00:02:50.399 --> 00:02:53.099 Because there's a peace that comes from Jesus Christ 00:02:53.099 --> 00:02:56.879 that surpasses all understanding. 00:02:56.879 --> 00:02:59.039 Have you ever experienced that before? 00:03:00.039 --> 00:03:03.180 Have you ever experienced a moment of peace 00:03:03.180 --> 00:03:06.979 despite something that has happened to you? 00:03:06.979 --> 00:03:09.959 Maybe a peace that seemed beyond what people 00:03:09.959 --> 00:03:13.159 or what the world would define as peace. 00:03:13.159 --> 00:03:16.759 I want you to take a moment and reflect on that 00:03:16.759 --> 00:03:18.560 and think if there has been a moment. 00:03:21.300 --> 00:03:25.400 You know, in a world that we live in today, 00:03:25.400 --> 00:03:27.680 there's so much conflict. 00:03:27.680 --> 00:03:30.039 There's war that's going on in the world. 00:03:30.039 --> 00:03:32.199 There's uncertainty. 00:03:32.199 --> 00:03:36.359 There is confusion, and there is division 00:03:36.359 --> 00:03:40.460 that exists not just here in the United States, 00:03:40.460 --> 00:03:41.859 but also in the world. 00:03:41.860 --> 00:03:44.540 It doesn't take much for us to see or to hear 00:03:44.540 --> 00:03:49.540 or even experience uncertainty in days like this. 00:03:51.140 --> 00:03:54.340 And with all the things that go on in our own lives 00:03:54.340 --> 00:03:55.980 or what goes on in this nation 00:03:55.980 --> 00:03:58.220 or what goes on in this world, 00:03:58.220 --> 00:04:00.620 it can be very unsettling. 00:04:00.620 --> 00:04:03.860 It can give us a sense of uneasiness. 00:04:03.860 --> 00:04:08.860 And for some of us, we search for peace in our lives. 00:04:08.860 --> 00:04:12.700 Some of us live this life feeling empty. 00:04:12.700 --> 00:04:16.340 Some of us have this desire to find something 00:04:16.340 --> 00:04:19.540 that is beyond what this earth has to offer. 00:04:20.980 --> 00:04:24.139 Some of us desire to be part of something greater, 00:04:24.139 --> 00:04:26.620 something bigger than themselves. 00:04:26.620 --> 00:04:29.220 And many of us in the world are searching for peace 00:04:29.220 --> 00:04:32.660 in this life, but sometimes they find. 00:04:32.660 --> 00:04:34.620 Maybe you can relate. 00:04:34.620 --> 00:04:37.100 Maybe you've experienced temporary peace. 00:04:37.100 --> 00:04:39.620 Maybe you've experienced temporary peace. 00:04:40.580 --> 00:04:42.740 Well, that's worldly peace. 00:04:42.740 --> 00:04:45.260 Maybe something that doesn't last very long. 00:04:45.260 --> 00:04:49.100 And we will find in our scripture reading today 00:04:49.100 --> 00:04:53.700 and in our message today that Christ being the prince 00:04:53.700 --> 00:04:57.820 of peace brings peace to earth. 00:04:57.820 --> 00:05:02.260 It is Christ who is the prince of peace. 00:05:02.260 --> 00:05:05.420 And the piece that I speak of is not the piece 00:05:05.420 --> 00:05:09.460 that we think of in everyday worldly standards. 00:05:09.460 --> 00:05:12.379 I know sometimes with our screaming kids and our families, 00:05:12.379 --> 00:05:16.180 can I just get a moment of peace here, peace and quiet? 00:05:16.180 --> 00:05:18.580 Come on, we've all had this experience before, 00:05:18.580 --> 00:05:19.939 where things are too loud, 00:05:19.939 --> 00:05:23.340 or maybe you just want a nice nap, 00:05:23.340 --> 00:05:25.740 and you hear there's construction going on 00:05:25.740 --> 00:05:27.700 right down the street. 00:05:27.700 --> 00:05:29.220 Some of us have experienced that. 00:05:29.220 --> 00:05:32.020 That's not the kind of piece I'm talking about. 00:05:32.019 --> 00:05:37.019 I'm talking about the peace that surpasses all understanding. 00:05:38.180 --> 00:05:42.379 The ones who have this peace, they have this sense of calm. 00:05:42.379 --> 00:05:43.699 They have this sense of calm 00:05:43.699 --> 00:05:46.459 knowing that everything will be all right, 00:05:46.459 --> 00:05:50.299 regardless of a life-changing tragedy, 00:05:50.299 --> 00:05:54.740 a bad event, a bad day, or whatever happens. 00:05:54.740 --> 00:05:56.419 And I don't know about you, 00:05:57.339 --> 00:06:00.019 but the very biblical idea of having a peace 00:06:00.019 --> 00:06:02.539 that surpasses all understanding, 00:06:02.539 --> 00:06:07.099 that God loves me, that God provides salvation in Christ, 00:06:07.099 --> 00:06:10.339 and provides peace, is wonderful. 00:06:11.180 --> 00:06:16.180 I want a peace that is longer than the temporary. 00:06:16.139 --> 00:06:18.699 I want a peace that is lasting. 00:06:19.620 --> 00:06:24.620 And so today, I invite you, let's open the word of God. 00:06:26.180 --> 00:06:28.379 Let's turn to our first scripture reading, 00:06:28.379 --> 00:06:32.339 which is found in Isaiah chapter 52 verse seven, 00:06:32.339 --> 00:06:37.339 which is found on page 728 in your ESVP Bible. 00:06:37.339 --> 00:06:41.179 ESVP Bible. 00:06:55.099 --> 00:06:58.459 So that's Isaiah chapter 52 verse seven. 00:07:00.019 --> 00:07:01.259 Let's read it together. 00:07:03.139 --> 00:07:06.299 How beautiful upon the mountains 00:07:06.300 --> 00:07:10.379 are the feet of him who brings good news, 00:07:10.379 --> 00:07:15.340 who publishes peace, who brings good news of happiness, 00:07:15.340 --> 00:07:20.340 who publishes salvation, who says to Zion, your God reigns. 00:07:23.460 --> 00:07:25.019 So we start off with this verse 00:07:25.019 --> 00:07:27.180 about the beauty of the mountains, right? 00:07:27.180 --> 00:07:30.180 How beautiful upon the mountains. 00:07:30.180 --> 00:07:32.060 And you know, traditionally, 00:07:32.060 --> 00:07:34.780 this language in this verse is used 00:07:34.779 --> 00:07:39.099 as a symbolic sign of important news that is coming. 00:07:39.099 --> 00:07:41.619 You may think of the time when Moses 00:07:41.619 --> 00:07:43.579 is descending from Mount Sinai, 00:07:43.579 --> 00:07:46.259 and he's bringing the 10 commandments. 00:07:46.259 --> 00:07:47.899 It's very similar language, 00:07:47.899 --> 00:07:50.699 that there is this sense of important news 00:07:50.699 --> 00:07:52.500 that is coming from the mountains, right? 00:07:52.500 --> 00:07:54.299 News that is descending. 00:07:55.899 --> 00:07:57.099 What a great reminder of that 00:07:57.099 --> 00:07:59.659 when we're thinking of how beautiful upon the mountains, 00:07:59.659 --> 00:08:02.619 there's this news that's coming. 00:08:02.620 --> 00:08:05.259 We go on then, how beautiful upon the mountains 00:08:05.259 --> 00:08:06.379 are the what? 00:08:09.300 --> 00:08:11.939 Are the feet of him, right? 00:08:11.939 --> 00:08:14.220 So the verse goes on and talks about the feet of him. 00:08:14.220 --> 00:08:15.660 And don't you wonder, 00:08:15.660 --> 00:08:19.060 it's kind of a strange language when we read it today. 00:08:19.060 --> 00:08:21.259 You know, how wonderful the feet like, 00:08:21.259 --> 00:08:23.899 I'm sorry, I don't wanna see any of you guys' feet right now, 00:08:23.899 --> 00:08:26.060 but that's kind of a strange language 00:08:26.060 --> 00:08:28.259 that we read nowadays. 00:08:28.259 --> 00:08:29.699 Talking about the feet of him, 00:08:29.699 --> 00:08:32.060 this language is talking about someone 00:08:32.059 --> 00:08:34.579 who is arriving, the presence of someone. 00:08:34.579 --> 00:08:36.500 A modern day comparison would be, 00:08:36.500 --> 00:08:39.539 I have touched ground, I have landed, right? 00:08:39.539 --> 00:08:41.500 I put my feet on the ground, 00:08:41.500 --> 00:08:44.099 someone who is arriving at a destination. 00:08:44.099 --> 00:08:47.099 That would be a similar, not exactly the same, 00:08:47.099 --> 00:08:49.019 but a similar wording of that. 00:08:50.019 --> 00:08:52.459 It's talking about the arrival of a person. 00:08:53.419 --> 00:08:55.339 Well, who is it that is arriving? 00:08:56.299 --> 00:09:00.139 We're talking about the coming of Jesus Christ, right? 00:09:00.139 --> 00:09:04.939 So how beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him, 00:09:04.939 --> 00:09:06.580 the arrival of Jesus Christ, 00:09:06.580 --> 00:09:10.500 who is going to bring peace and salvation. 00:09:10.500 --> 00:09:15.500 We see in this next part, who brings good news. 00:09:15.539 --> 00:09:17.740 I want you to look a little further down in your verse, 00:09:17.740 --> 00:09:20.340 it says, who brings good news? 00:09:20.340 --> 00:09:22.179 And there's also good news of happiness. 00:09:22.179 --> 00:09:27.179 So you find a duplicate, a repetition as it were, 00:09:27.179 --> 00:09:30.219 bringing good news and good news of happiness. 00:09:30.219 --> 00:09:32.179 We see this twice. 00:09:32.179 --> 00:09:35.139 Well, whenever you see repetition in scripture, 00:09:35.139 --> 00:09:37.299 that's something that you should take note of. 00:09:37.299 --> 00:09:40.339 Consider, holy, holy, holy, right? 00:09:40.339 --> 00:09:43.500 Or when we're saying, when you see anything in scripture, 00:09:43.500 --> 00:09:45.819 anything that's repeated, take note of that. 00:09:46.779 --> 00:09:49.939 Well, this is mentioning of good tidings, 00:09:49.939 --> 00:09:53.639 glad news or a cheerful announcement. 00:09:53.639 --> 00:09:56.699 We see here that there is good news, right? 00:09:56.700 --> 00:09:58.580 And it's going to talk about, 00:09:58.580 --> 00:10:01.020 there's this idea of publishing. 00:10:01.020 --> 00:10:02.820 That's kind of a weird word to use, right? 00:10:02.820 --> 00:10:03.700 When you think of publishing, 00:10:03.700 --> 00:10:05.500 we're thinking of printing, right? 00:10:05.500 --> 00:10:09.340 The printing press, we're thinking of magazines and books. 00:10:09.340 --> 00:10:11.740 What do you mean by publishing? 00:10:11.740 --> 00:10:13.620 So there's the announcement of salvation, 00:10:13.620 --> 00:10:15.640 and then you see in the verse, 00:10:15.640 --> 00:10:19.540 publishes peace and publishes salvation. 00:10:19.540 --> 00:10:22.540 And this is where things get very significant in this verse. 00:10:22.540 --> 00:10:24.259 It's very interesting. 00:10:24.259 --> 00:10:28.939 This, the word publishing, it is used as a unique word. 00:10:28.939 --> 00:10:31.399 It's talking about the announcement. 00:10:31.399 --> 00:10:33.220 So it means an announcement 00:10:33.220 --> 00:10:36.019 or something we need to listen to, right? 00:10:36.019 --> 00:10:38.220 So if something is published in the news, right? 00:10:38.220 --> 00:10:41.019 You see big headlines, right? 00:10:41.019 --> 00:10:43.700 I think of the classic like, man on the moon, right? 00:10:43.700 --> 00:10:46.620 It's a big announcement that you should take note of. 00:10:46.620 --> 00:10:47.740 That's what we're talking about. 00:10:47.740 --> 00:10:50.100 So think peace or you think salvation, 00:10:50.100 --> 00:10:54.899 just like in a news article, so to speak. 00:10:54.899 --> 00:10:57.500 Think of proclamation, something that is proclaimed, 00:10:57.500 --> 00:10:59.220 something that is preached, 00:10:59.220 --> 00:11:01.019 something that's of great significance 00:11:01.019 --> 00:11:02.620 that you should take note of. 00:11:03.920 --> 00:11:06.860 The announcement, there is the proclamation of peace 00:11:06.860 --> 00:11:08.580 and the announcement of salvation 00:11:08.580 --> 00:11:10.740 or the proclamation of salvation. 00:11:10.740 --> 00:11:13.100 And I want you to take note of the Hebrew 00:11:13.100 --> 00:11:16.220 that is found in the word peace and salvation. 00:11:16.220 --> 00:11:18.440 Let's put that next slide on here. 00:11:18.440 --> 00:11:19.460 Take a look at this. 00:11:19.460 --> 00:11:21.340 This is very interesting. 00:11:21.340 --> 00:11:25.980 In the Hebrew, it's talking about the publishing 00:11:25.980 --> 00:11:27.740 or the announcement of peace. 00:11:27.740 --> 00:11:30.259 And some of you know this word as shalom, right? 00:11:30.259 --> 00:11:31.620 It's talking about peace. 00:11:31.620 --> 00:11:33.820 And the Jewish people would greet one another 00:11:33.820 --> 00:11:38.060 saying shalom to each other and it can mean peace, right? 00:11:38.060 --> 00:11:40.340 So the publishing of peace, 00:11:40.340 --> 00:11:44.060 but there's also the publishing of salvation. 00:11:44.060 --> 00:11:45.740 What is that word? 00:11:45.740 --> 00:11:47.220 Yeshua. 00:11:47.220 --> 00:11:52.220 Doesn't that sound like a very similar name to Christ? 00:11:52.740 --> 00:11:55.620 In researching this, I thought this was very interesting 00:11:55.620 --> 00:11:58.259 that we're talking about the coming of Jesus Christ 00:11:58.259 --> 00:12:00.779 who's going to be born in a manger, right? 00:12:00.779 --> 00:12:03.180 We're talking about in this verse, 00:12:03.180 --> 00:12:04.580 how beautiful upon the mountains 00:12:04.580 --> 00:12:06.060 the announcements that's coming, 00:12:06.060 --> 00:12:08.540 the arrival of someone who's bringing good news, 00:12:08.540 --> 00:12:10.700 someone who is announcing peace 00:12:10.700 --> 00:12:12.820 and someone who is announcing salvation. 00:12:12.820 --> 00:12:14.740 And there's this connection here 00:12:14.740 --> 00:12:19.740 with salvation being Yeshua and Christ being Yeshua. 00:12:20.060 --> 00:12:22.539 Christ being salvation. 00:12:22.539 --> 00:12:26.539 I just found that to be very interesting, very unique, 00:12:26.539 --> 00:12:29.899 especially when you're looking at the Old Testament. 00:12:29.899 --> 00:12:31.980 And you know, when we're reading the Old Testament, 00:12:31.980 --> 00:12:36.980 sometimes you don't see connections on the surface. 00:12:37.180 --> 00:12:39.180 But to me personally, I don't know about you. 00:12:39.180 --> 00:12:44.180 When I read this and I see this, it helps me in my faith 00:12:44.179 --> 00:12:47.819 that God is the God of salvation, right? 00:12:47.819 --> 00:12:49.699 That God provides salvation. 00:12:49.699 --> 00:12:54.179 Well, God provides Jesus Christ as Yeshua. 00:12:54.179 --> 00:12:57.179 God is providing salvation, Yeshua. 00:12:58.739 --> 00:12:59.579 That's wild. 00:13:00.679 --> 00:13:01.579 Be very honest with you. 00:13:01.579 --> 00:13:04.620 That's absolutely incredible. 00:13:04.620 --> 00:13:07.059 Peace is defined as Shalom 00:13:07.059 --> 00:13:09.779 and salvation is defined as Yeshua, 00:13:09.779 --> 00:13:14.500 the same name that we find in Jesus. 00:13:14.500 --> 00:13:16.220 Wow. 00:13:16.220 --> 00:13:17.980 We find towards the end of the verse 00:13:17.980 --> 00:13:21.139 that it talks about the announcement of salvation 00:13:21.139 --> 00:13:23.100 defined as Yeshua. 00:13:24.699 --> 00:13:29.059 It's important for us to take note of things like this, 00:13:29.059 --> 00:13:32.579 these little connections here in the word of God. 00:13:32.579 --> 00:13:34.259 And isn't it amazing to know 00:13:34.259 --> 00:13:37.860 that the good news comes from our Lord, 00:13:37.860 --> 00:13:41.659 who loves us, who sent his son, Jesus Christ, 00:13:41.659 --> 00:13:45.259 to come to earth as the means of salvation? 00:13:45.259 --> 00:13:46.659 It is through Christ, right? 00:13:46.659 --> 00:13:50.340 We receive salvation and in the same way, 00:13:50.340 --> 00:13:54.740 we receive the peace that surpasses all understanding. 00:13:55.820 --> 00:13:58.060 Christ is the Prince of Peace 00:13:58.060 --> 00:14:01.100 and he gives us peace that is not of this world 00:14:01.100 --> 00:14:03.379 but something that is much greater. 00:14:03.379 --> 00:14:05.019 The verse goes on to say, 00:14:05.019 --> 00:14:09.620 who says to Zion, your God reigns. 00:14:09.620 --> 00:14:12.340 And we arrive to the end of this verse 00:14:12.340 --> 00:14:15.740 where there is mention that God is in control. 00:14:15.740 --> 00:14:17.220 And in the context of this, 00:14:17.220 --> 00:14:19.299 it's talking about Zion, right? 00:14:19.299 --> 00:14:22.220 A declaration to Jerusalem, 00:14:22.220 --> 00:14:27.220 that God is sovereign and that he is the divine ruler. 00:14:27.419 --> 00:14:29.299 And in the same way that we can read 00:14:29.299 --> 00:14:34.299 that God is Lord over Zion and that God reigns, 00:14:34.299 --> 00:14:39.299 we too can take note that the God that we believe in 00:14:39.459 --> 00:14:42.339 is sovereign, he is in control 00:14:43.819 --> 00:14:46.500 and he loves each and every one of us. 00:14:47.740 --> 00:14:50.459 It's just wonderful to take note of that. 00:14:50.459 --> 00:14:55.459 And this should be a call for us to, number one, 00:14:55.819 --> 00:14:57.979 have that relationship with Jesus 00:14:57.979 --> 00:15:00.979 by first and foremost believing in him. 00:15:00.980 --> 00:15:05.100 And secondly, as you receive salvation, 00:15:05.100 --> 00:15:07.740 put your trust in the Lord, 00:15:07.740 --> 00:15:10.100 knowing that he is the source of life 00:15:10.100 --> 00:15:12.539 and he will supply all that you need. 00:15:13.620 --> 00:15:17.220 Doesn't scripture tell us that we shouldn't worry? 00:15:17.220 --> 00:15:20.620 And yet how easy is it for us to worry about things, right? 00:15:20.620 --> 00:15:23.180 I know we're human, we worry at times, right? 00:15:24.180 --> 00:15:26.100 But scripture calls for us not to worry 00:15:26.100 --> 00:15:31.100 and that almost seems easier said than done. 00:15:31.620 --> 00:15:34.420 But to think that God gives us this good news 00:15:34.420 --> 00:15:37.580 of salvation in Christ, it's a call for us 00:15:37.580 --> 00:15:40.820 to believe in the Lord, receive salvation, 00:15:40.820 --> 00:15:43.940 receive the peace that surpasses all understanding, 00:15:43.940 --> 00:15:48.779 be in prayer, be in fellowship with other Christian believers. 00:15:48.779 --> 00:15:51.480 Read scripture and allow for the word of God 00:15:51.480 --> 00:15:52.980 to work in and through you. 00:15:52.980 --> 00:15:57.980 The word of God has transforming power in our lives. 00:15:58.820 --> 00:16:00.500 We allow for God to work in us. 00:16:00.500 --> 00:16:03.379 Let's turn to our next scripture verse. 00:16:03.379 --> 00:16:07.220 It's gonna be Luke chapter two, verse 14. 00:16:07.220 --> 00:16:26.220 It's gonna be on page 1018. 00:16:26.220 --> 00:16:28.540 Some of you may know this verse, right? 00:16:28.540 --> 00:16:30.580 Let's read it together. 00:16:30.580 --> 00:16:33.980 Glory to God in the highest and on earth, 00:16:33.980 --> 00:16:38.420 peace among those whom he is pleased, right?
