00:00:00.000 --> 00:00:04.620
 Our seminar was on praying for the world and praying for our city.

00:00:05.139 --> 00:00:08.859
 We started by identifying that that is something many of us find very difficult.

00:00:09.400 --> 00:00:13.000
 We find it a lot easier to pray for ourselves or our families or even our church.

00:00:13.720 --> 00:00:18.679
 But the world is so vast and there is so much need, it's difficult sometimes to know where to begin.

00:00:19.580 --> 00:00:24.580
 So we thought that to pray really effectively, first we need to know what is going on.

00:00:24.580 --> 00:00:28.740
 We need to have information and there are lots of resources where we can get information about prayer needs

00:00:28.739 --> 00:00:31.719
 in our city and around the world, whether books or online.

00:00:32.259 --> 00:00:34.299
 But also we need to really care about it.

00:00:34.719 --> 00:00:39.759
 We need to be able to put ourselves in the shoes of other people, perhaps our Christian brothers and sisters in other countries.

00:00:41.000 --> 00:00:44.379
 We then thought about four kinds of prayer for our city and for our world.

00:00:44.939 --> 00:00:50.500
 There is kingdom prayer, which is prayer for God's glory, that his kingdom may come, that his will may be done.

00:00:51.119 --> 00:00:56.980
 There is compassionate prayer when we hear of situations around the world where people are living in desperate circumstances,

00:00:56.979 --> 00:01:03.119
 whether because of natural disasters or because of human injustice, wars and so on.

00:01:03.899 --> 00:01:09.879
 We thought about fellowship prayers, praying for our brothers and sisters overseas, some being persecuted, some serving the Lord Jesus.

00:01:10.780 --> 00:01:15.640
 And then finally there is gospel prayers, praying that God's kingdom will come, that people will come to know the Lord Jesus.

00:01:16.079 --> 00:01:20.400
 And praying for individuals and organisations who are seeking to present the gospel.

00:01:20.400 --> 00:01:24.960
 We then spent some time praying for our world.

00:01:25.080 --> 00:01:30.560
 So we split the world into the seven continents and we prayed in our small groups for them.

00:01:30.640 --> 00:01:34.960
 But before we actually got to prayer, we discussed some of the things that have helped us in our own quiet times.

00:01:35.700 --> 00:01:40.480
 Things that we've used personally that have helped us pray for the world and how to do that best.

00:01:41.000 --> 00:01:43.240
 And then we prayed for different continents.

00:01:43.239 --> 00:01:47.339
 We prayed for Africa, we prayed for Asia and we prayed for Europe.

00:01:47.739 --> 00:01:51.119
 And each of those different continents has different countries in them.

00:01:51.259 --> 00:01:54.239
 And each country has its own struggles and difficulties.

00:01:54.419 --> 00:01:59.959
 But also each country has and within that continent has different signs of God's grace.

00:02:00.479 --> 00:02:03.140
 And we were thinking about how we can best pray for those.

00:02:03.219 --> 00:02:04.519
 So we prayed for those for a few moments.

00:02:04.519 --> 00:02:07.959
 And then we thought about our own city, how we can be praying for our own city.

00:02:08.060 --> 00:02:13.960
 But also how God might be able to use us in working out his will in our city.

00:02:14.199 --> 00:02:20.579
 And that goes into every area of life from work, family and also our evangelism.

00:02:20.939 --> 00:02:25.519
 And our work as a church and our effectiveness within the community.

00:02:25.960 --> 00:02:29.620
 And then we did what everyone should be doing on a day of prayer and we prayed.

00:02:34.520 --> 00:03:04.500
 Thank you.
