00:02:11.039 He said, of all the events, of all the things that I could go see in the Bible, go back in time and see, 00:02:11.680 --> 00:02:15.780 the one thing I would like to see would be Jesus praying. 00:02:18.139 --> 00:02:19.360 And some very flashy. 00:02:20.259 --> 00:02:25.000 But wouldn't it have been amazing to be there and hear Jesus pray to his Father in heaven? 00:02:25.000 --> 00:02:30.360 Well, the text that we have this morning in John chapter 17 is exactly that. 00:02:31.159 --> 00:02:36.800 It is a candid insight into the prayer life of Jesus Christ himself. 00:02:36.800 --> 00:02:46.400 Consider this, of all the things that the disciples could have asked Jesus to teach them, 00:02:46.840 --> 00:02:52.100 in the New Testament, we only have record of them asking him to teach them one thing. 00:02:53.100 --> 00:02:56.140 Jesus, teach us how to pray. 00:02:57.140 --> 00:03:02.580 Not Jesus, teach us how to cast out miracles, teach us how to preach better, teach us how to pray. 00:03:02.580 --> 00:03:05.000 I think that's very significant. 00:03:05.820 --> 00:03:12.960 Because surely they saw that at the heart of Christ's ministry was his praying in your mind, do you see him crying with tears and shouting out loudly? 00:03:41.660 --> 00:03:43.300 Because he was full of passion. 00:03:45.500 --> 00:03:48.700 Imagine how incredible it
