WEBVTT

00:00:00.000 --> 00:00:28.519
 He shall come down like the rain upon the mowgrass,

00:00:28.519 --> 00:00:28.519

00:00:28.519 --> 00:00:32.519
 as showers that water the earth,

00:00:33.240 --> 00:00:37.640
 as showers that water the earth.

00:00:38.060 --> 00:00:45.519
 He shall deliver the needy when he cryeth,

00:00:46.519 --> 00:00:53.700
 the poor also and him that hath no helper.

00:00:53.700 --> 00:01:05.920
 Blessed be the Lord God, who only doeth wondrous things.

00:01:05.920 --> 00:01:14.280
 Blessed be the Lord God, who only doeth wondrous things.

00:01:14.280 --> 00:01:24.200
 Blessed be the Lord God, who only doeth wondrous things.

00:01:24.500 --> 00:01:30.520
 And blessed be his glorious name forever.

00:01:30.519 --> 00:01:42.519
 He shall come down like the rain upon the mowgrass,

00:01:42.519 --> 00:01:47.519
 as showers that water the earth,

00:01:48.239 --> 00:01:52.519
 as showers that water the earth.

00:01:53.000 --> 00:02:00.519
 He shall deliver the needy when he cryeth,

00:02:00.519 --> 00:02:10.519
 the poor also and him that hath no helper.

00:02:10.520 --> 00:02:37.120
 And with that same type of quietness,

00:02:37.120 --> 00:02:40.120
 there is a hymn on page 159, which...

00:02:40.120 --> 00:03:01.120
 Savior, like a shepherd lead us,

00:03:01.120 --> 00:03:06.120
 much we need thy tender care.

00:03:07.120 --> 00:03:13.360
 In thy pleasant pastures feed us,

00:03:13.360 --> 00:03:17.120
 for our use thy faults prepare.

00:03:17.120 --> 00:03:24.120
 Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus,

00:03:24.120 --> 00:03:25.120
 blessed Jesus,

00:03:25.120 --> 00:03:31.120
 thou hast bought us, thine we are.

00:03:31.120 --> 00:03:38.120
 Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus,

00:03:38.120 --> 00:03:45.120
 thou hast bought us, thine we are.

00:03:45.120 --> 00:04:02.120
 Thou hast promised to receive us,

00:04:02.120 --> 00:04:07.120
 poor and sinful though we be.

00:04:07.120 --> 00:04:10.120
 Thou hast mercy to relieve us,

00:04:10.120 --> 00:04:14.120
 Thou hast mercy to relieve us,

00:04:14.120 --> 00:04:19.120
 grace to cleanse and power to free.

00:04:19.120 --> 00:04:25.120
 Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus,

00:04:25.120 --> 00:04:32.120
 early let us turn to thee.

00:04:32.120 --> 00:04:38.120
 Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus,

00:04:38.120 --> 00:04:46.120
 early let us turn to thee.

00:04:46.120 --> 00:05:01.120
 We turn to Daniel chapter 10.

00:05:01.120 --> 00:05:11.120
 I'm aware that it's difficult to keep continuity in a book such as Daniel.

00:05:11.120 --> 00:05:16.120
 We are all interested in the prophecies of Daniel,

00:05:16.120 --> 00:05:24.120
 the visions that Daniel interpreted of the heathen kings from chapter 1 through chapter 6.

00:05:24.120 --> 00:05:30.120
 We certainly are interested in Daniel's own visions and prophecy of chapter 7, chapter 8,

00:05:30.120 --> 00:05:36.120
 and his prayer of chapter 9, which is answered by an angel with four verses,

00:05:36.120 --> 00:05:43.120
 which are probably the most foremost important verses from a prophetic revelation standpoint in your Bible.

00:05:43.120 --> 00:05:48.120
 May I just take time again tonight to read and comment.

00:05:48.120 --> 00:05:52.120
 The tenth chapter, by my own personal liking,

00:05:52.120 --> 00:06:00.120
 is a chapter which anyone who enjoys studying the Bible would like to just stay in a week in and a week out

00:06:00.120 --> 00:06:03.120
 and pick up a thought here and a thread there.

00:06:03.120 --> 00:06:07.120
 But that's not entertaining enough for most Baptists,

00:06:07.120 --> 00:06:10.120
 so you have to do a little more to keep them coming.

00:06:10.120 --> 00:06:14.120
 But the tenth chapter is sort of an interlude.

00:06:14.120 --> 00:06:16.120
 I told you that before.

00:06:16.120 --> 00:06:19.120
 And basically, we've studied only one time,

00:06:19.120 --> 00:06:22.120
 that was two weeks ago tonight, in this tenth chapter.

00:06:22.120 --> 00:06:28.120
 It is unique in the fact that it's the only time in Daniel's history that we have

00:06:28.120 --> 00:06:32.120
 that he didn't get prayer immediately answered.

00:06:32.120 --> 00:06:38.120
 Before this time in chapter 2, and in chapter 4, and in chapter 9,

00:06:38.120 --> 00:06:44.120
 Daniel prays, and sometimes while he prays the answer comes.

00:06:44.120 --> 00:06:47.120
 But this time that is not true.

00:06:47.120 --> 00:06:52.120
 I think it's well for us always, and we will not review that a great deal tonight,

00:06:52.120 --> 00:06:57.120
 because I jumped from verse 3 to verse 12 the last time we were together.

00:06:57.120 --> 00:07:02.120
 I personally believe that the tenth chapter of Daniel gives us a great deal of teaching latitude,

00:07:02.120 --> 00:07:07.120
 not only about Daniel, but about persistent praying,

00:07:07.120 --> 00:07:13.120
 a good instance and illustration in the Old Testament of the Lord Jesus Christ.

00:07:13.120 --> 00:07:18.120
 Quite a bit of teaching about angels and demons.

00:07:18.120 --> 00:07:26.120
 So the chapter is full of good biblical instruction.

00:07:26.120 --> 00:07:32.120
 As well as good Bible practicality.

00:07:32.120 --> 00:07:37.120
 Follow me as I get you to a couple of places tonight, and I'm being honest with what I'd like to do.

00:07:37.120 --> 00:07:42.120
 I'd like to get you to the place tonight that next Sunday night I can study with you

00:07:42.120 --> 00:07:47.120
 in its fullest simple content about the doctrine of angels.

00:07:47.120 --> 00:07:50.120
 How many of them are there?

00:07:50.120 --> 00:07:52.120
 What do they do?

00:07:52.120 --> 00:07:54.120
 What's their ministry?

00:07:54.120 --> 00:07:58.120
 How do we look at angels?

00:07:58.120 --> 00:08:00.120
 Do demons have to have a body?

00:08:00.120 --> 00:08:02.120
 And etc.

00:08:02.120 --> 00:08:09.120
 Now I do not want to get into depth, but I do want to take you just briefly to the word of God,

00:08:09.120 --> 00:08:12.120
 if I'm to that place tonight when we close.

00:08:12.120 --> 00:08:15.120
 And even though I will use Daniel 10 as a takeoff next Sunday night,

00:08:15.120 --> 00:08:20.120
 I will use your entire Bible for a simple study of the subject of angels.

00:08:20.120 --> 00:08:27.120
 Daniel writes in the third year of Cyrus, king of Persia, a thing was revealed unto Daniel,

00:08:27.120 --> 00:08:31.120
 or a word was revealed unto Daniel, whose name was called Belshazzar.

00:08:31.120 --> 00:08:33.120
 And the word was true.

00:08:33.120 --> 00:08:36.120
 But the time appointed was long.

00:08:36.120 --> 00:08:38.120
 Your Bible says it's the word great.

00:08:38.120 --> 00:08:43.120
 I personally believe that some place along the line Daniel received some confidence

00:08:43.120 --> 00:08:49.120
 that the nation of Israel was going to be allowed to go back out of captivity to the place of Jerusalem.

00:08:49.120 --> 00:08:54.120
 Now you are aware from chapter 9 he has read Jeremiah in its entirety.

00:08:54.120 --> 00:09:00.120
 And Jeremiah literally says that 70 years after the children of Israel are taking captive,

00:09:00.120 --> 00:09:05.120
 they would be allowed to release themselves and the kings would release themselves by decree,

00:09:05.120 --> 00:09:08.120
 to go back to Jerusalem.

00:09:08.120 --> 00:09:11.120
 That happened in the book of Nehemiah and Ezra.

00:09:11.120 --> 00:09:19.120
 Daniel at the time that he wrote or revealed chapter 9 was close to having been 70 years in exile.

00:09:19.120 --> 00:09:22.120
 He was close to 85 years of age.

00:09:22.120 --> 00:09:28.120
 Whether this verse of chapter 10 verse 1 is connected to the vision of chapter 9

00:09:28.120 --> 00:09:33.120
 or his reading of Jeremiah, it would seem he had some confidence

00:09:33.120 --> 00:09:41.120
 that what he saw and what was told him was going to take place very quickly and then it didn't.

00:09:41.120 --> 00:09:47.120
 And Jeremiah as all people of God, and I didn't say men of God,

00:09:47.120 --> 00:10:00.120
 should become very, very concerned when God isn't answering prayer directly connected to his word.

00:10:00.120 --> 00:10:03.120
 Now I believe that's where Jeremiah is.

00:10:03.120 --> 00:10:10.120
 You realize in chapter 11 you have the major prophecy of Daniel.

00:10:10.120 --> 00:10:18.120
 Chapter 9 is a major prophecy, but chapter 11 is the major prophecy that deals with length with the Antichrist

00:10:18.120 --> 00:10:23.120
 and the closing of the age before the millennial reign of Christ.

00:10:23.120 --> 00:10:29.120
 So this little interlude is a practical lesson as well as a very theological lesson.

00:10:29.120 --> 00:10:34.120
 And so I believe the time of the word was long and he understood the thing.

00:10:34.120 --> 00:10:40.120
 Daniel had perfect consciousness of what God was saying and had understanding of the vision.

00:10:40.120 --> 00:10:44.120
 In those days I, Daniel, was mourning three, four weeks.

00:10:44.120 --> 00:10:46.120
 Now that's strange.

00:10:46.120 --> 00:10:50.120
 Never before had he prayed three weeks to get an answer.

00:10:50.120 --> 00:10:55.120
 And of course, as we go along, you'll again come to verse 12.

00:10:55.120 --> 00:11:02.120
 Daniel found, tried to find out whether he was the problem of God not answering prayer.

00:11:02.120 --> 00:11:05.120
 And that should always be our case.

00:11:05.120 --> 00:11:08.120
 First of all, examination in the light of the word of God.

00:11:08.120 --> 00:11:11.120
 Now kindly notice in verse 3.

00:11:11.120 --> 00:11:17.120
 During this three weeks of time, basically human pleasure was laid aside.

00:11:17.120 --> 00:11:23.120
 I assume from the context at least that Daniel was fasting.

00:11:23.120 --> 00:11:24.120
 He was mourning.

00:11:24.120 --> 00:11:26.120
 He was sorrowful.

00:11:26.120 --> 00:11:29.120
 Food was not interesting to him.

00:11:29.120 --> 00:11:32.120
 You have to get a Christian pretty miserable before he won't eat.

00:11:32.120 --> 00:11:35.120
 That's what it says.

00:11:35.120 --> 00:11:37.120
 I ate no pleasant bread.

00:11:37.120 --> 00:11:39.120
 Neither came flesh nor wine in my mouth.

00:11:39.120 --> 00:11:44.120
 Neither did I anoint myself or set myself apart for any godly mission.

00:11:44.120 --> 00:11:48.120
 Until three whole weeks were fulfilled.

00:11:48.120 --> 00:11:49.120
 Twenty-one days.

00:11:49.120 --> 00:11:52.120
 And that's peculiar.

00:11:52.120 --> 00:11:55.120
 He did not give up praying.

00:11:55.120 --> 00:12:01.120
 Daniel always believed that you prayed until you got an answer.

00:12:01.120 --> 00:12:07.120
 Even when the king said, you can't pray for thirty days, Daniel did what he normally did.

00:12:07.120 --> 00:12:10.120
 He practiced his spiritual habit three times a day.

00:12:10.120 --> 00:12:20.120
 And he believed that God by prayer could intervene even in a kingly command that was contrary to the freedom of spirituality.

00:12:20.120 --> 00:12:28.120
 Now you are aware that at seventy years of age, God had to deliver Daniel out of the lion's den.

00:12:28.120 --> 00:12:33.120
 But his prayer was answered.

00:12:33.120 --> 00:12:34.120
 So you come to verse four.

00:12:34.120 --> 00:12:38.120
 On the twenty-fourth day of the first month, I was by the side of the great river, which is Hetico.

00:12:38.120 --> 00:12:40.120
 Now we've seen that before.

00:12:40.120 --> 00:12:45.120
 Now I want to be technical with you for a little while, if you'll allow me.

00:12:45.120 --> 00:12:50.120
 Then I lifted up mine eyes and looked and behold a...

00:12:50.120 --> 00:12:52.120
 Now you have two words, class, that interest me.

00:12:52.120 --> 00:12:55.120
 Now if you have a reference Bible, you have some reference to what I'm going to say.

00:12:55.120 --> 00:13:00.120
 If you have commentaries at home, you're going to have debates on the next five verses.

00:13:00.120 --> 00:13:05.120
 I think you have to accept the Bible in its specifics, first of all.

00:13:05.120 --> 00:13:10.120
 And the fact that we have a full Bible and we can compare Scripture with Scripture.

00:13:10.120 --> 00:13:15.120
 Now Daniel lifts up an eyes and looked, behold, a certain man.

00:13:15.120 --> 00:13:18.120
 Now that is a specific phrase.

00:13:18.120 --> 00:13:20.120
 A certain man.

00:13:20.120 --> 00:13:28.120
 If you read some of your commentaries, there are those who say that in verse five, Daniel was introduced to an angel.

00:13:28.120 --> 00:13:35.120
 And the conversation from verse five with any that Daniel has is an angel.

00:13:35.120 --> 00:13:37.120
 Now I personally do not believe that.

00:13:38.120 --> 00:13:44.120
 I believe that verse five, when he speaks of a certain man and then he describes something,

00:13:44.120 --> 00:13:49.120
 is an Old Testament illustration again of the Lord Jesus Christ.

00:13:49.120 --> 00:13:51.120
 Now look what he says.

00:13:51.120 --> 00:13:53.120
 He saw a certain man.

00:13:53.120 --> 00:13:55.120
 And you'll kindly notice something.

00:13:55.120 --> 00:13:56.120
 I'm running ahead of myself.

00:13:56.120 --> 00:14:02.120
 It seems to me when the Bible wants to speak specifically, it says so.

00:14:02.120 --> 00:14:06.120
 When it speaks of angels, very often it speaks in a general term.

00:14:06.120 --> 00:14:09.120
 Not certain or the, but a.

00:14:09.120 --> 00:14:12.120
 Now I think that's good Bible.

00:14:12.120 --> 00:14:15.120
 Now he describes the certain man he sees.

00:14:15.120 --> 00:14:17.120
 Somebody says to me, well, why is that important?

00:14:17.120 --> 00:14:20.120
 It must be important because all scripture is important to us.

00:14:20.120 --> 00:14:23.120
 This certain man is clothed in linen.

00:14:23.120 --> 00:14:25.120
 The Hebrew term is fine linen.

00:14:25.120 --> 00:14:30.120
 Now immediately only one person in the Old Testament times ever wore fine linen.

00:14:30.120 --> 00:14:31.120
 Who was it class?

00:14:31.120 --> 00:14:33.120
 Who was it class?

00:14:33.120 --> 00:14:37.120
 Oh, what a bunch of deadheads.

00:14:37.120 --> 00:14:41.120
 Who wore fine linen in the Old Testament only?

00:14:41.120 --> 00:14:43.120
 The high priest.

00:14:43.120 --> 00:14:47.120
 When did he wear the fine linen class?

00:14:47.120 --> 00:14:49.120
 Huh?

00:14:49.120 --> 00:14:54.120
 On the day of atonement only.

00:14:54.120 --> 00:14:59.120
 Now your Bible in the Old Testament very often speaks in type.

00:14:59.120 --> 00:15:09.120
 Now I personally believe that Daniel has revealed to him prophetically and practically in the ages to come, the Lord Jesus Christ.

00:15:09.120 --> 00:15:13.120
 The one whom he has seen before is taking over the kingdom of the Antichrist.

00:15:13.120 --> 00:15:18.120
 He described him in one of the chapters as the Ancient of Days.

00:15:18.120 --> 00:15:23.120
 So here we have a certain man pictured as the high priest on the day of atonement.

00:15:23.120 --> 00:15:27.120
 Secondly, whose loins were girded with fine gold.

00:15:27.120 --> 00:15:34.120
 Now girded loins always speak of the person being ready to work or able to work.

00:15:34.120 --> 00:15:37.120
 He doesn't have the flowing robes that are going to get in his ways.

00:15:37.120 --> 00:15:40.120
 He has his loins girded and ready for work.

00:15:40.120 --> 00:15:45.120
 And kindly notice his loins are girded with the best material the Bible can describe, gold.

00:15:45.120 --> 00:15:48.120
 Then you come to verse 6.

00:15:48.120 --> 00:15:51.120
 Strange term and we do not understand it.

00:15:51.120 --> 00:15:54.120
 His body also was like the barrel.

00:15:54.120 --> 00:15:57.120
 In other words, this is the color of azure.

00:15:57.120 --> 00:16:00.120
 It is the color of the sky, blue.

00:16:00.120 --> 00:16:03.120
 Maybe a picture of heaven.

00:16:03.120 --> 00:16:10.120
 But certainly a picture of what we know is serene and calm and blessed and appealing.

00:16:10.120 --> 00:16:13.120
 Not someone to be afraid of.

00:16:13.120 --> 00:16:17.120
 And his face as the appearance of lightning.

00:16:17.120 --> 00:16:22.120
 Now that immediately gives you something that's the opposite of the azure.

00:16:22.120 --> 00:16:27.120
 Lightning in the Bible always speaks of terror or fear.

00:16:27.120 --> 00:16:34.120
 And the only fear that you connect with Christ is the fact that he has to deal with evil and sin.

00:16:34.120 --> 00:16:43.120
 So here Daniel, concerned about the fact he does not get a prayer answered the way he usually does,

00:16:43.120 --> 00:16:54.120
 is given the privilege of a new fresh vision of one who presents peace and is ready and is the atonement and also he will do evil.

00:16:54.120 --> 00:16:57.120
 And then he says his eyes like the lamps of fire.

00:16:57.120 --> 00:17:00.120
 In other words, his ability to see all.

00:17:00.120 --> 00:17:03.120
 And his arms and feet like in color to polish brass.

00:17:03.120 --> 00:17:07.119
 Prophetically speaking, that speaks of the brightness of the gospel.

00:17:07.119 --> 00:17:17.119
 And a voice so much like his words was as the voice of multitude speaking.

00:17:17.119 --> 00:17:22.119
 Now basically, when we look at this, we are concerned.

00:17:22.119 --> 00:17:34.119
 If you drop down, you are aware that Daniel was so concerned with this vision of a certain man that he fell on his face.

00:17:34.119 --> 00:17:39.119
 He even goes to fact to say he was in a deep sleep and my face was toward the ground.

00:17:39.119 --> 00:17:44.119
 Now stop here for acceptance because you have a reference Bible and turn to Revelation 1.

00:17:44.119 --> 00:17:58.119
 I personally believe that when Daniel introduces a certain man, which I believe is the illustration of the Lord Jesus Christ,

00:17:58.119 --> 00:18:03.119
 Daniel falls down in some kind of a consternation.

00:18:03.119 --> 00:18:05.119
 Now look at Revelation 1.

00:18:05.119 --> 00:18:15.119
 I believe that the illustration of Daniel and the illustration of John and the Isle of Patmos in Revelation 1 connects the two books.

00:18:15.119 --> 00:18:24.119
 So that whatever is going to take place in Daniel after this vision is highlighted in the very prophecy of the New Testament.

00:18:24.119 --> 00:18:28.119
 What is going to take place that John describes after that vision?

00:18:28.119 --> 00:18:38.119
 Therefore, Daniel's writing and the writing of Revelation can be compared and many places synonymous in what's going to take place.

00:18:38.119 --> 00:18:42.119
 Now in Revelation 1, you all are ahead of me.

00:18:42.119 --> 00:18:52.119
 But just read or follow along as I read as John comes through the introduction to the seven churches and come with me at verse 10.

00:18:52.119 --> 00:18:58.119
 I was in the spirit on the Lord's day and heard behind me a great voice as of a trumpet saying,

00:18:58.119 --> 00:19:04.119
 I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last, and what thou seest write in a book and send it unto the seven churches which are in Asia.

00:19:04.119 --> 00:19:05.119
 Verse 12.

00:19:05.119 --> 00:19:06.119
 Verse 12.

00:19:06.119 --> 00:19:09.119
 And I turned to see the voice that spake with me.

00:19:09.119 --> 00:19:12.119
 And when he turned, he did not see the voice immediately.

00:19:12.119 --> 00:19:18.119
 Being turned, I saw seven golden candlesticks, which are the seven churches and the ministers of the seven churches.

00:19:18.119 --> 00:19:24.119
 And in the midst of the candlesticks, one light unto the Son of Man, a certain man.

00:19:24.119 --> 00:19:27.119
 Now he describes him.

00:19:27.119 --> 00:19:35.119
 Kindly notice the description of Revelation 1 is exactly except for one phrase the same as Daniel 10.

00:19:35.119 --> 00:19:37.119
 What does he say?

00:19:37.119 --> 00:19:38.119
 Clothed with a garment.

00:19:38.119 --> 00:19:40.119
 There's the high priest picture again.

00:19:40.119 --> 00:19:43.119
 A specific garment down to the foot.

00:19:43.119 --> 00:19:47.119
 And gird about the paps or the loins with a golden girdle.

00:19:47.119 --> 00:19:50.119
 Same thing as Daniel, ready for work.

00:19:50.119 --> 00:19:53.119
 His head and his hair were white like wool, as white as snow.

00:19:53.119 --> 00:19:58.119
 Now that phrase is not in Daniel 10, but it's in Daniel 7.

00:19:58.119 --> 00:20:03.119
 So Daniel has already seen the ancient of days, pictured in the whiteness.

00:20:03.119 --> 00:20:04.119
 He's already seen that.

00:20:04.119 --> 00:20:06.119
 He does not have to see that again.

00:20:06.119 --> 00:20:08.119
 Pick it up in verse 14.

00:20:08.119 --> 00:20:15.119
 And his eyes were as a flame of fire, that piercing knowledge and ability of Christ to see all.

00:20:15.119 --> 00:20:16.119
 Same as Daniel.

00:20:16.119 --> 00:20:21.119
 And his feet like undefined brass, as if they burned in a furnace.

00:20:21.119 --> 00:20:29.119
 And his voice like the sound of many waters.

00:20:29.119 --> 00:20:34.119
 Now what I want you to see is, look at verse 17.

00:20:34.119 --> 00:20:40.119
 And when I saw him, I fell as his feet as dead.

00:20:40.119 --> 00:20:43.119
 The same experience that Daniel had.

00:20:43.119 --> 00:20:47.119
 Now all we can do is conjecture.

00:20:47.119 --> 00:20:51.119
 Why did John fall down as dead?

00:20:51.119 --> 00:20:57.119
 Why did Daniel prostrate himself on his face in sleep?

00:20:57.119 --> 00:21:08.119
 The only thing we can think is, that both men could not believe what God had revealed to them.

00:21:08.119 --> 00:21:14.119
 Is it possible that this is going to take place?

00:21:14.119 --> 00:21:27.119
 Is it possible that the very one Daniel saw is the very one John saw, already completed his ministry and waiting for his kingdom to be set up?

00:21:27.119 --> 00:21:34.119
 He did not fall dead because of the person he saw.

00:21:34.119 --> 00:21:37.119
 John was a follower of the Christ.

00:21:37.119 --> 00:21:44.119
 And he has to find himself, for some reason, concerned of what he is told and what he is going to be told.

00:21:44.119 --> 00:21:53.119
 Certainly John on the Isle of Patmos, by himself, and pay attention to that phrase, is concerned of why he's there.

00:21:53.119 --> 00:21:55.119
 Exiled to Patmos.

00:21:55.119 --> 00:21:57.119
 What can he do for God?

00:21:57.119 --> 00:22:03.119
 What can a lone individual do who has no relationships or fellowships?

00:22:03.119 --> 00:22:08.119
 If he had not been alone, he'd have never gotten a prophecy of revelation.

00:22:12.119 --> 00:22:14.119
 It would be too startling.

00:22:14.119 --> 00:22:19.119
 And Daniel has had revealed to him one startling prophecy after another.

00:22:19.119 --> 00:22:24.119
 And basically he's physically exhausted in chapter 10.

00:22:24.119 --> 00:22:26.119
 Go back to chapter 10.

00:22:26.119 --> 00:22:33.119
 I'm saying to you that what Daniel sees in a certain man and John sees in the Son of God, or appears as the Son of God,

00:22:33.119 --> 00:22:39.119
 connects the two books together in the relationship of doctrine and in the relationship of time.

00:22:39.119 --> 00:22:45.119
 One is before the cross.

00:22:45.119 --> 00:22:48.119
 And the other is after the cross.

00:22:48.119 --> 00:22:50.119
 But both have the same message.

00:22:50.119 --> 00:22:52.119
 Now look at verse 7.

00:22:52.119 --> 00:22:53.119
 Verse 7.

00:22:53.119 --> 00:23:02.119
 And I, Daniel, alone, saw the vision.

00:23:02.119 --> 00:23:05.119
 For the men that were with me saw not the vision.

00:23:05.119 --> 00:23:08.119
 In other words, he was with others at the river Hitticum.

00:23:08.119 --> 00:23:17.119
 But a great quaking fell upon them, or around them, or something of nature caused them to be fearful, so that they fled to hide themselves.

00:23:17.119 --> 00:23:19.119
 Therefore, I was left alone.

00:23:19.119 --> 00:23:21.119
 We don't pay attention to these words in our Bible.

00:23:21.119 --> 00:23:24.119
 Do you like to be alone?

00:23:24.119 --> 00:23:34.119
 What's a practical application to this seemingly inapplicable picture of Daniel?

00:23:34.119 --> 00:23:35.119
 Alone.

00:23:35.119 --> 00:23:38.119
 I'll think of something for a second.

00:23:38.119 --> 00:23:53.119
 Someone says that men are at their best, and they're the best men when they're alone with God.

00:23:53.119 --> 00:23:59.119
 Character is what man is when he's alone.

00:23:59.119 --> 00:24:01.119
 You see something here that's very interesting.

00:24:01.119 --> 00:24:04.119
 You read about the lonely men of God in the Bible.

00:24:04.119 --> 00:24:05.119
 Enoch.

00:24:05.119 --> 00:24:07.119
 Walked with God.

00:24:07.119 --> 00:24:10.119
 And the inference is by himself.

00:24:10.119 --> 00:24:13.119
 And you have it here.

00:24:13.119 --> 00:24:15.119
 You have it with Joseph.

00:24:15.119 --> 00:24:17.119
 All by himself.

00:24:17.119 --> 00:24:18.119
 Alone.

00:24:18.119 --> 00:24:22.119
 You have it with Elijah on Mount Carmel.

00:24:22.119 --> 00:24:23.119
 How many were there to help him?

00:24:23.119 --> 00:24:25.119
 No one against the prophets of Baal.

00:24:25.119 --> 00:24:26.119
 Just Elijah.

00:24:26.119 --> 00:24:27.119
 Alone.

00:24:27.119 --> 00:24:28.119
 Alone.

00:24:28.119 --> 00:24:30.119
 You have it with Paul.

00:24:30.119 --> 00:24:32.119
 Caught up into the third heaven.

00:24:32.119 --> 00:24:34.119
 First Corinthians chapter 12.

00:24:34.119 --> 00:24:35.119
 Second Corinthians chapter 12.

00:24:35.119 --> 00:24:36.119
 Alone.

00:24:36.119 --> 00:24:39.119
 You have John on the island of Patmos.

00:24:39.119 --> 00:24:40.119
 Alone.

00:24:40.119 --> 00:24:48.119
 I would remind you that the world tries to show you that being alone is bad.

00:24:48.119 --> 00:24:53.119
 The world is afraid to be alone because then it has to think.

00:24:53.119 --> 00:24:58.119
 And I believe that you know that Daniel was a loner, don't you?

00:24:58.119 --> 00:25:03.119
 Other than Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, we haven't heard from them for a number of years.

00:25:03.119 --> 00:25:05.119
 Daniel is alone.

00:25:05.119 --> 00:25:14.119
 I personally believe that every Hebrew boy that was taken captive apart from those four compromised with the heathens in the land in which they were slaves.

00:25:14.119 --> 00:25:15.119
 Daniel was a loner.

00:25:15.119 --> 00:25:17.119
 Daniel was a loner.

00:25:17.119 --> 00:25:27.119
 And godly people are the best and more susceptible to God's leading when they're alone.

00:25:27.119 --> 00:25:29.119
 And that's where you find Daniel.

00:25:29.119 --> 00:25:30.119
 Let's go a little further.

00:25:30.119 --> 00:25:37.119
 Now that's a very difficult verse.

00:25:37.119 --> 00:25:39.119
 What vision?

00:25:39.119 --> 00:25:42.119
 The vision that he was looking for in verse 1?

00:25:42.119 --> 00:25:45.119
 No, that vision he had already understood.

00:25:45.119 --> 00:25:53.119
 The great vision he had just seen was one that had been given in between the one he knew and the one he wanted to know.

00:25:53.119 --> 00:25:57.119
 This was the vision of the Lord Jesus Christ.

00:25:57.119 --> 00:26:06.119
 And that's why I believe you destroy Daniel 10 if you say that beginning with verse 5, God has introduced an angel into Daniel's life.

00:26:06.119 --> 00:26:13.119
 He saw a great vision and there remained no strength in me.

00:26:13.119 --> 00:26:15.119
 I talked about this the last time.

00:26:15.119 --> 00:26:17.119
 I would remind you something.

00:26:17.119 --> 00:26:25.119
 The more knowledge you have of God and the more knowledge you have of his word, the greater is the burden and physically drained you.

00:26:28.119 --> 00:26:31.119
 And I don't think anybody realizes this.

00:26:33.119 --> 00:26:35.119
 And Daniel was physically drained.

00:26:35.119 --> 00:26:37.119
 Twice we have this in this same chapter.

00:26:37.119 --> 00:26:39.119
 You've had it before in other chapters.

00:26:39.119 --> 00:26:42.119
 For my comeliness was turned in me into corruption.

00:26:42.119 --> 00:26:46.119
 In other words, I look like I was going to die, perishing.

00:26:46.119 --> 00:26:49.119
 And I retain no strength.

00:26:49.119 --> 00:26:51.119
 Now, let me just keep going.

00:26:51.119 --> 00:26:58.119
 Yet, in this weakened physical condition, I heard the voice of his words.

00:26:58.119 --> 00:27:05.119
 And when I heard the voice of his words, then was I in a deep sleep on my face and my face toward the ground, prostrate.

00:27:05.119 --> 00:27:08.119
 But you can't serve God in that position.

00:27:14.119 --> 00:27:16.119
 Now you come to verse 10.

00:27:16.119 --> 00:27:19.119
 And I believe the reference Bible tells us here exactly what it should be.

00:27:20.119 --> 00:27:25.119
 And behold, an hand touched me, not the hand of the certain man, a hand.

00:27:25.119 --> 00:27:38.119
 Now Daniel is introduced to the angel that was supposed to bring the answer to his prayer, which had been waiting for 21 to 24 days.

00:27:38.119 --> 00:27:46.119
 Behold, a hand touched me, which set me upon my knees and upon the palms of my hands.

00:27:47.119 --> 00:27:49.119
 And he said unto me.

00:27:49.119 --> 00:27:50.119
 Now I have to stop.

00:27:50.119 --> 00:27:52.119
 I told you when I was in the other chapter that has this phrase.

00:27:52.119 --> 00:27:55.119
 Every time you come to this phrase, you have to stop.

00:27:55.119 --> 00:28:01.119
 He said unto me, O Daniel, a man greatly beloved.

00:28:02.119 --> 00:28:03.119
 Notice verse 19.

00:28:04.119 --> 00:28:08.119
 And said, O man greatly beloved.

00:28:10.119 --> 00:28:11.119
 That sounds like Job.

00:28:14.119 --> 00:28:15.119
 Chapter 1, verse 1.

00:28:15.119 --> 00:28:16.119
 Job.

00:28:16.119 --> 00:28:20.119
 Man after God's perfectness.

00:28:22.119 --> 00:28:25.119
 Who walked after God and eschewed evil.

00:28:25.119 --> 00:28:26.119
 Upright.

00:28:28.119 --> 00:28:30.119
 Now you've had this once before in Daniel.

00:28:30.119 --> 00:28:36.119
 If you look back in chapter 9 for a moment and look at verse 23, you seem to say the same thing.

00:28:37.119 --> 00:28:46.119
 Here again, Gabriel, the angel, comes to answer Daniel's prayer of great length this time about the children of Israel and their sin.

00:28:46.119 --> 00:28:55.119
 And in verse 23, he says to them again, at the beginning of thy supplications, the commandment came forth, and I am come forth to show thee, for thou art greatly beloved.

00:28:57.119 --> 00:28:59.119
 Daniel wasn't sinning.

00:28:59.119 --> 00:29:01.119
 That wasn't why he wasn't getting prayer answered.

00:29:02.119 --> 00:29:04.119
 Again, let's stop for a second.

00:29:04.119 --> 00:29:07.119
 How do you become greatly beloved by God?

00:29:09.119 --> 00:29:16.119
 Do you ever ask yourself, and I have these crazy questions that come to my mind, why did Daniel have the privilege of becoming a prophet?

00:29:18.119 --> 00:29:20.119
 Do you ever ask yourself that question?

00:29:25.119 --> 00:29:26.119
 I have a conviction on it.

00:29:26.119 --> 00:29:32.119
 In chapter 1, don't turn back to it.

00:29:32.119 --> 00:29:37.119
 As a young fellow, no younger than 12 and no older than 18, we have that span to consider.

00:29:39.119 --> 00:29:49.119
 Daniel stood up to the servant of the king, who had been told to give them the best food that come from the king's table, and said, in essence, I will not compromise.

00:29:49.119 --> 00:29:50.119
 I have decided to trust God.

00:29:50.119 --> 00:29:54.119
 I have decided to trust God.

00:29:54.119 --> 00:30:02.119
 It was not because of the fact he had position in the land.

00:30:02.119 --> 00:30:06.119
 The prophetic mission of Daniel grew out of his position of public life.

00:30:06.119 --> 00:30:09.119
 He could interpret the dreams of the king.

00:30:09.119 --> 00:30:12.119
 But that came because of his personal life.

00:30:13.119 --> 00:30:17.119
 Did you ever wonder why God asked you to live a separated life?

00:30:21.119 --> 00:30:28.119
 You ever question the New Testament situation of why God would have the gall who saves you by his grace to say, live by my word?

00:30:28.119 --> 00:30:36.119
 Why would John write, love not the world, neither the things of the world.

00:30:36.119 --> 00:30:39.119
 If the love of the world is in you, the love of the Father is not in you.

00:30:39.119 --> 00:30:42.119
 You cannot serve God and mammon at the same time.

00:30:42.119 --> 00:30:44.119
 That has nothing to do with your salvation.

00:30:45.119 --> 00:30:47.119
 It has nothing to do with your eternal life.

00:30:48.119 --> 00:30:50.119
 It basically has nothing to do with heaven.

00:30:50.119 --> 00:30:53.119
 You accept heaven and eternal life by the grace of God.

00:30:53.119 --> 00:30:54.119
 It's a free gift by faith.

00:30:54.119 --> 00:30:56.119
 I believe.

00:30:57.119 --> 00:31:03.119
 Daniel is a good example, I believe, of an uncompromising saint.

00:31:06.119 --> 00:31:16.119
 And that's what brought Daniel to the place of being given power by God ten times greater than the astrologers of the heathen king.

00:31:16.119 --> 00:31:23.119
 We somehow have not grasped what God wants us to do.

00:31:23.119 --> 00:31:29.119
 There are a lot of us that are average Christians.

00:31:29.119 --> 00:31:32.119
 We are not totally carnal.

00:31:32.119 --> 00:31:35.119
 And we are not totally spiritual.

00:31:35.119 --> 00:31:38.119
 We are in the middle.

00:31:38.119 --> 00:31:45.119
 And certainly God would not define us as greatly beloved.

00:31:45.119 --> 00:31:49.119
 Do you remember there is one New Testament saint that has that same thing.

00:31:49.119 --> 00:31:53.119
 John is called the beloved disciple.

00:31:55.119 --> 00:31:56.119
 Why?

00:31:57.119 --> 00:31:59.119
 Did you ever read about John?

00:31:59.119 --> 00:32:00.119
 Hmm?

00:32:03.119 --> 00:32:05.119
 When they were at the table?

00:32:05.119 --> 00:32:08.119
 Who was closest to Christ?

00:32:08.119 --> 00:32:09.119
 John.

00:32:09.119 --> 00:32:13.119
 Not trying to separate himself.

00:32:14.119 --> 00:32:16.119
 Who stood at the foot of the cross?

00:32:17.119 --> 00:32:20.119
 And accepted the responsibility for the mother of Christ?

00:32:20.119 --> 00:32:21.119
 John.

00:32:22.119 --> 00:32:29.119
 Who recognized Christ when Peter jumped out of the ship and walked towards the shore after the resurrection?

00:32:29.119 --> 00:32:30.119
 Was John.

00:32:30.119 --> 00:32:50.119
 It would seem to me that someday, whether we do it in beginning teaching to young people, we ought to say to ourselves and prove to ourselves from the word of God that not compromising is the basis to being used of God in an extraordinary way.

00:32:50.119 --> 00:32:58.119
 And all of you sit and say, Pastor, but I have to work every day of my life.

00:32:58.119 --> 00:33:02.119
 But that means you have a better opportunity not to compromise than somebody who's in the Lord's work.

00:33:02.119 --> 00:33:07.119
 It's easy for a pastor not to compromise.

00:33:07.119 --> 00:33:09.119
 He doesn't want to be touched by the world.

00:33:09.119 --> 00:33:11.119
 He just doesn't go out in the world.

00:33:12.119 --> 00:33:14.119
 He shuts himself in his little office.

00:33:15.119 --> 00:33:17.119
 And he doesn't have to compromise.

00:33:17.119 --> 00:33:18.119
 You do not have that choice.

00:33:18.119 --> 00:33:20.119
 You walk in the world every day.

00:33:21.119 --> 00:33:24.119
 There are days in my life I never see another individual beside my family.

00:33:26.119 --> 00:33:28.119
 But you don't have that privilege.

00:33:29.119 --> 00:33:35.119
 Here's that phrase, which I know we're probably harboring on too much, but it's twice in this paragraph.

00:33:35.119 --> 00:33:44.119
 Daniel, you are a man that is greatly beloved, an uncompromising nature, beginning at childhood.

00:33:48.119 --> 00:33:49.119
 You can see it in the physical.

00:33:53.119 --> 00:33:57.119
 What do you do with a sinner who dissipates his body and then accepts Christ?

00:33:57.119 --> 00:33:59.119
 Give him a new body.

00:33:59.119 --> 00:34:13.119
 No, you take a youngster who is willing to dedicate himself to the Lord and not compromise with the world's gains and with the world's physical attraction and you keep him pure and his life probably will be lived for Christ a long time.

00:34:13.119 --> 00:34:19.119
 Think about it.

00:34:20.119 --> 00:34:23.119
 Here's a man greatly beloved because he didn't compromise.

00:34:23.119 --> 00:34:27.119
 Here's a man greatly beloved, no doubt, because he was a man of prayer.

00:34:28.119 --> 00:34:29.119
 He prayed regularly.

00:34:29.119 --> 00:34:30.119
 He prayed specially.

00:34:31.119 --> 00:34:32.119
 He prayed specifically.

00:34:33.119 --> 00:34:34.119
 He was always concerned.

00:34:34.119 --> 00:34:41.119
 Here's a man who never cheated on his duty.

00:34:41.119 --> 00:34:45.119
 His everyday life was above reproach.

00:34:45.119 --> 00:34:46.119
 Listen to me carefully.

00:34:46.119 --> 00:34:47.119
 You can't read in the Bible.

00:34:47.119 --> 00:34:48.119
 You can only imagine.

00:34:49.119 --> 00:34:58.119
 How under the sun did he stay as being president of a land under four different kings if he wasn't above board?

00:34:58.119 --> 00:35:03.119
 Because a heathen king could get a new president at the drop of a hat.

00:35:03.119 --> 00:35:06.119
 How he stayed alive for 70 years is amazing.

00:35:10.119 --> 00:35:13.119
 He must have been a genius when it came to business.

00:35:15.119 --> 00:35:18.119
 The king must have trusted him explicitly.

00:35:18.119 --> 00:35:25.119
 For example, when Belshazzar saw the handwriting on the wall, the new king came in that night, didn't he, and took over the castle and Daniel never missed a meal.

00:35:29.119 --> 00:35:30.119
 Can you say that?

00:35:33.119 --> 00:35:39.119
 Here's a man that lived 70 years and not just as a man of God, a man of politics.

00:35:41.119 --> 00:35:43.119
 And kept in that position.

00:35:43.119 --> 00:35:46.119
 I personally think he was totally faithful.

00:35:47.119 --> 00:35:48.119
 Certainly we've seen this before.

00:35:49.119 --> 00:35:50.119
 He was always interested in the welfare of others.

00:35:52.119 --> 00:35:53.119
 He was interested in his land.

00:35:54.119 --> 00:35:55.119
 Why did he pray in chapter 9?

00:35:55.119 --> 00:35:58.119
 Because he wanted Israel back to the place of turning to God.

00:35:58.119 --> 00:36:00.119
 Is it possible for a sinning nation to find atonement?

00:36:01.119 --> 00:36:02.119
 He answered yes.

00:36:03.119 --> 00:36:04.119
 He wasn't concerned about his own skin.

00:36:06.119 --> 00:36:07.119
 He was concerned about others.

00:36:08.119 --> 00:36:09.119
 He was concerned about his land.

00:36:09.119 --> 00:36:10.119
 He was concerned about being a patriarch.

00:36:10.119 --> 00:36:13.119
 I could go on with this.

00:36:13.119 --> 00:36:14.119
 I'm not sure it's important.

00:36:15.119 --> 00:36:19.119
 You know that Daniel always looked at life through the eyes of God.

00:36:23.119 --> 00:36:25.119
 What does it mean to God?

00:36:26.119 --> 00:36:27.119
 What will it do for God?

00:36:28.119 --> 00:36:31.119
 During this last week as I was preaching in this little prayer conference,

00:36:32.119 --> 00:36:33.119
 I made this statement.

00:36:33.119 --> 00:36:44.119
 Do you live your life, no matter what you do, that you would be afraid to embarrass God?

00:36:49.119 --> 00:36:51.119
 Are you always concerned that God is first?

00:36:52.119 --> 00:36:54.119
 Are you always concerned that his word is not embarrassed?

00:36:54.119 --> 00:36:55.119
 Are you always concerned that his testimony is not decreased?

00:36:55.119 --> 00:36:58.119
 Are you always concerned that his testimony is not decreased?

00:36:59.119 --> 00:37:01.119
 I've mentioned this before in this pulpit.

00:37:01.119 --> 00:37:07.119
 Years ago, I had a man that came to my church.

00:37:08.119 --> 00:37:09.119
 A lovely man.

00:37:10.119 --> 00:37:13.119
 55 or 60 years of age, but a heathen.

00:37:13.119 --> 00:37:16.119
 Came regularly to church.

00:37:16.119 --> 00:37:20.119
 All of a sudden, one day, I didn't see him there.

00:37:21.119 --> 00:37:26.119
 So in the course of conversation, I talked to some folks who knew him, and they said,

00:37:26.119 --> 00:37:27.119
 Pastor, he's not coming back to church.

00:37:28.119 --> 00:37:29.119
 That was interesting to me.

00:37:29.119 --> 00:37:38.119
 So I had occasion to talk to him once, and I said to him, just as a friend, why did you stop coming to church?

00:37:40.119 --> 00:37:42.119
 He said to me, Pastor, do you know so and so?

00:37:42.119 --> 00:37:43.119
 I said, yeah, he's a member of my church.

00:37:43.119 --> 00:37:45.119
 He said, that's why I never came back.

00:37:46.119 --> 00:37:49.119
 I said, I'd appreciate if you explained.

00:37:50.119 --> 00:37:51.119
 He said, this was his word.

00:37:51.119 --> 00:37:59.119
 That man has a more filthy mouth than anybody I've ever heard in my life.

00:38:00.119 --> 00:38:06.119
 And he said, if that man goes to your church, I don't need your church.

00:38:09.119 --> 00:38:10.119
 Now that scares us.

00:38:11.119 --> 00:38:15.119
 But it also ought to put us in a position to realize that people look at us.

00:38:15.119 --> 00:38:20.119
 They look at a pastor, and that is not the key, friends.

00:38:20.119 --> 00:38:24.119
 I'm convinced that the key to witnessing and revival is the people that sit in a pew.

00:38:27.119 --> 00:38:30.119
 Here was Daniel, who always looked at things through the eyes of God.

00:38:30.119 --> 00:38:32.119
 And here he's prayed for three weeks.

00:38:33.119 --> 00:38:34.119
 And he has consternation.

00:38:35.119 --> 00:38:37.119
 Why haven't I got my prayer answered?

00:38:38.119 --> 00:38:39.119
 Never had that before.

00:38:40.119 --> 00:38:42.119
 Have I walked out of God's way?

00:38:42.119 --> 00:38:43.119
 Have I walked out of God's will?

00:38:43.119 --> 00:38:45.119
 Have I walked out of God's command?

00:38:45.119 --> 00:38:46.119
 I better find out.

00:38:46.119 --> 00:38:47.119
 You are now to verse 12.

00:38:47.119 --> 00:38:48.119
 We studied it the last time.

00:38:49.119 --> 00:38:51.119
 Look at verse 11 to start with.

00:38:52.119 --> 00:38:53.119
 I wish I had time to go on that.

00:38:53.119 --> 00:38:57.119
 You realize that Daniel's probably the most consistent spiritual Christian in the Bible?

00:39:00.119 --> 00:39:01.119
 That's right.

00:39:01.119 --> 00:39:02.119
 He's even better than Paul.

00:39:03.119 --> 00:39:05.119
 At least in the history of Daniel, there are no ups and downs.

00:39:06.119 --> 00:39:08.119
 He's consistently spiritual.

00:39:08.119 --> 00:39:12.119
 Now he says to me, Daniel, man greatly beloved.

00:39:12.119 --> 00:39:13.119
 This is the angel.

00:39:13.119 --> 00:39:19.119
 Kindly notice, if you want to have some fun this week, go through your Bible and see how many times angels have answered prayers.

00:39:19.119 --> 00:39:23.119
 I have been fascinated about that subject.

00:39:23.119 --> 00:39:24.119
 I believe in angels.

00:39:24.119 --> 00:39:26.119
 You believe in angels, right?

00:39:27.119 --> 00:39:30.119
 Do you know why you should sit up and pay attention tonight and behave yourself in church?

00:39:30.119 --> 00:39:31.119
 Because angels are here.

00:39:31.119 --> 00:39:32.119
 I'll prove that to you next week.

00:39:32.119 --> 00:39:33.119
 Not just one angel either.

00:39:33.119 --> 00:39:34.119
 If each believer has a guardian angel, and he does.

00:39:34.119 --> 00:39:35.119
 And I got 200 people here tonight that are Christians.

00:39:35.119 --> 00:39:37.119
 I got 200 guardian angels listening to me preach.

00:39:37.119 --> 00:39:45.119
 And Daniel said, I better be finding something else.

00:39:46.119 --> 00:39:55.119
 Some of you are going to go home and try to argue with me that there are no angels here.

00:39:55.119 --> 00:40:01.179
 and daniel said i better be finding something out

00:40:01.179 --> 00:40:06.119
 now some of you are going to go home and try to argue with me that there's no angels here

00:40:06.119 --> 00:40:09.980
 it happens to be in the new testament not in the old testament

00:40:09.980 --> 00:40:14.500
 and it happens to be attached to a local church

00:40:14.500 --> 00:40:19.299
 now read with me for a second our time is shortly drawing to a close

00:40:19.299 --> 00:40:24.579
 he said to me oh daniel a man greatly bestowed understand the words that i speak unto thee and

00:40:24.579 --> 00:40:32.400
 stand up you cannot listen laying down you cannot be ready to serve prostrate on the ground even

00:40:32.400 --> 00:40:38.239
 though the vision has caused you some consternation that john had that same thing the son of god said

00:40:38.239 --> 00:40:45.159
 to him john stand up and tell the church is what i want you to tell him same thing stand up all right

00:40:45.159 --> 00:40:50.219
 for unto thee am i now sent all right an angel was sent to daniel now be careful of something

00:40:50.219 --> 00:40:54.539
 this angel spoke to daniel it doesn't have to be that angel speak today

00:40:54.539 --> 00:41:02.119
 to be any less useful and when he had spoken this word unto me i stood up trembling that's the first

00:41:02.119 --> 00:41:07.679
 inclination of my bible i feel a little human weakness of daniel but i probably would tremble too

00:41:07.679 --> 00:41:13.279
 then said he unto me now i'd study this all for you two weeks ago tonight i'm just reviewing it

00:41:13.280 --> 00:41:22.100
 quickly to get you to a place fear not that's the result of what daniel got when he prayed

00:41:22.100 --> 00:41:28.720
 no fear now i covered that a week ago sunday morning there is no gray areas in your bible

00:41:28.720 --> 00:41:34.300
 the minute you walk out of the realm of faith you walk into the realm of fear

00:41:34.300 --> 00:41:43.120
 you can't have half fear and half faith it's impossible in the word of god so that every

00:41:43.120 --> 00:41:46.960
 time we as believers have fear we are not having faith

00:41:46.960 --> 00:41:53.820
 and there is nothing in the bible to be contrary to that statement as far as i know and i've read

00:41:53.820 --> 00:42:02.780
 now he says to daniel fear not for from the first day now look for 24 days at least 21 days he had

00:42:02.780 --> 00:42:10.480
 prayed from the first day the answer was on the way right that's what he says now you have this

00:42:10.480 --> 00:42:15.200
 little lesson that i gave you about how did daniel pray for three weeks how should we pray when

00:42:15.200 --> 00:42:24.000
 prayer is not being answered he's examining himself this is how daniel prayed thou did set thine heart

00:42:24.000 --> 00:42:30.720
 you were willing to be changed if that was necessary to get this prayer answered to understand to find out

00:42:30.719 --> 00:42:38.419
 what the vision was to understand when it's going to come to pass you are willing to say god i have to

00:42:38.419 --> 00:42:43.139
 know and he kept praying that and praying that and praying that for 21 days

00:42:43.139 --> 00:42:50.019
 and to chasten thyself that's verse three

00:42:50.019 --> 00:42:53.659
 willing not to eat

00:42:53.659 --> 00:42:59.559
 willing not to set himself apart all he was concerned about is lord

00:42:59.559 --> 00:43:08.059
 if i'm the person that's in the way to answer this prayer show me we don't pray that way i don't pray that way

00:43:08.059 --> 00:43:15.619
 we do not like to humble ourself in the sight of the lord

00:43:15.619 --> 00:43:21.179
 do not like to humble ourself in the sight of those who know us

00:43:21.179 --> 00:43:24.679
 but daniel was willing to chasten himself

00:43:24.679 --> 00:43:28.239
 and he did it before god

00:43:28.239 --> 00:43:30.159
 then he says he prayed

00:43:30.159 --> 00:43:32.059
 thy words were heard

00:43:32.059 --> 00:43:34.960
 and i am come for thy words

00:43:34.960 --> 00:43:37.239
 i've got the answer for you daniel

00:43:37.239 --> 00:43:38.879
 well where you been

00:43:38.879 --> 00:43:42.879
 well i got stopped between heaven and earth

00:43:42.880 --> 00:43:45.940
 he got stopped

00:43:45.940 --> 00:43:48.280
 yeah i got stopped

00:43:48.280 --> 00:43:49.860
 who'd you get stopped by

00:43:49.860 --> 00:43:52.380
 well i had a little fight with the demons while i was coming through the atmosphere

00:43:52.380 --> 00:43:56.820
 may i remind you something

00:43:56.820 --> 00:44:00.840
 there are three involved when you pray

00:44:00.840 --> 00:44:03.780
 you

00:44:03.780 --> 00:44:06.220
 and god

00:44:06.220 --> 00:44:08.600
 and satan

00:44:08.600 --> 00:44:16.660
 if daniel had stopped praying

00:44:16.660 --> 00:44:19.640
 the answer would not have come

00:44:19.640 --> 00:44:25.579
 this is not far out theology

00:44:25.579 --> 00:44:28.699
 twice in this chapter

00:44:28.699 --> 00:44:30.559
 and angel says to daniel

00:44:30.559 --> 00:44:32.500
 i am having problems

00:44:32.500 --> 00:44:34.559
 with the beings of satan

00:44:34.559 --> 00:44:37.099
 read what he says

00:44:37.099 --> 00:44:40.639
 when your words were first heard

00:44:40.639 --> 00:44:43.279
 the first day i started out with the answer for you

00:44:43.279 --> 00:44:46.119
 but that's verse 13

00:44:46.119 --> 00:44:47.940
 that's one of the biggest buts in the bible

00:44:47.940 --> 00:44:52.940
 the prince of the kingdom of persia

00:44:52.940 --> 00:44:56.460
 if we believe in guardian angels

00:44:56.460 --> 00:44:59.340
 then the word of god also teaches us

00:44:59.340 --> 00:45:01.800
 there is at least one angel of satan

00:45:01.800 --> 00:45:05.500
 set to try to take care of national situations

00:45:05.500 --> 00:45:12.159
 there was a demon

00:45:12.159 --> 00:45:13.940
 an emissary of satan

00:45:13.940 --> 00:45:15.760
 which was assigned to persia

00:45:15.760 --> 00:45:18.940
 and this evil angel was appointed by satan

00:45:18.940 --> 00:45:20.539
 to control persia

00:45:20.539 --> 00:45:23.599
 do you see why god says

00:45:23.599 --> 00:45:25.679
 pray for those in authority over you

00:45:25.679 --> 00:45:29.500
 pray for the place in which you live

00:45:29.500 --> 00:45:30.739
 there is a demon

00:45:30.739 --> 00:45:32.119
 an angel servant

00:45:32.119 --> 00:45:34.659
 who is after the united states

00:45:34.659 --> 00:45:37.860
 if you don't believe me

00:45:37.860 --> 00:45:39.139
 drop over to verse 20

00:45:39.139 --> 00:45:41.199
 then said he

00:45:41.199 --> 00:45:42.679
 we have a problem who the he is

00:45:42.679 --> 00:45:43.840
 but for tonight let's leave it

00:45:43.840 --> 00:45:46.840
 knowest thou wherefore i come unto thee

00:45:46.840 --> 00:45:51.920
 and now will i return to fight with the satanic prince of persia again

00:45:51.920 --> 00:45:53.120
 to get back into heaven

00:45:53.120 --> 00:45:58.400
 and when i am gone forth victorious there

00:45:58.400 --> 00:46:00.600
 lo the prince of greece that come after me

00:46:00.600 --> 00:46:02.200
 and i'll have to battle with him

00:46:02.200 --> 00:46:03.980
 on behalf of the people again

00:46:03.980 --> 00:46:07.100
 did you ever read that before

00:46:07.099 --> 00:46:12.219
 daniel prayed

00:46:12.219 --> 00:46:13.079
 one day two days

00:46:13.079 --> 00:46:13.539
 three days

00:46:13.539 --> 00:46:14.039
 seven days

00:46:14.039 --> 00:46:14.539
 twelve days

00:46:14.539 --> 00:46:15.179
 fifteen days

00:46:15.179 --> 00:46:15.839
 twenty-one days

00:46:15.839 --> 00:46:16.619
 the answer didn't come

00:46:16.619 --> 00:46:18.980
 the angel was on his way

00:46:18.980 --> 00:46:21.960
 he didn't make it

00:46:21.960 --> 00:46:25.579
 the prince of the kingdom of persia

00:46:25.579 --> 00:46:26.139
 withstood me

00:46:26.139 --> 00:46:27.880
 one and twenty days

00:46:27.880 --> 00:46:32.239
 i had to go through the sphere

00:46:32.239 --> 00:46:35.879
 of satan

00:46:35.879 --> 00:46:39.019
 now i'm just doing something off the top of my head

00:46:39.019 --> 00:46:39.959
 i don't have any notes

00:46:39.959 --> 00:46:40.959
 i don't have any notes in front of me

00:46:40.959 --> 00:46:42.459
 but i don't have my original notes

00:46:42.459 --> 00:46:43.399
 so if you were here this morning

00:46:43.399 --> 00:46:45.259
 and heard mr greer say something that's very unique

00:46:45.259 --> 00:46:47.019
 that i had never thought about

00:46:47.019 --> 00:46:49.659
 you remember he talked about the canopy of moisture

00:46:49.659 --> 00:46:50.779
 over the earth

00:46:50.779 --> 00:46:52.319
 before the flood

00:46:52.319 --> 00:46:52.899
 right

00:46:52.899 --> 00:46:56.039
 and then he referred you to peter

00:46:56.039 --> 00:46:58.859
 and said there is now a canopy of fire

00:46:58.859 --> 00:47:00.359
 over the earth

00:47:00.360 --> 00:47:02.720
 reserve the judgment of fire

00:47:02.720 --> 00:47:05.039
 god is gathering fire

00:47:05.039 --> 00:47:07.000
 that is not without comparison

00:47:07.000 --> 00:47:09.480
 to the prince of the power of the air

00:47:09.480 --> 00:47:11.240
 the principalities and the powers

00:47:11.240 --> 00:47:14.300
 and that which is in the control of satan

00:47:14.300 --> 00:47:18.900
 this angel had to go through that

00:47:18.900 --> 00:47:22.680
 and he would have never made it

00:47:22.680 --> 00:47:24.599
 first of all if daniel had stopped praying

00:47:24.599 --> 00:47:27.460
 and for the prayers of daniel being lifted to heaven

00:47:27.460 --> 00:47:30.160
 god sent michael to help that angel

00:47:30.159 --> 00:47:31.440
 through that atmosphere

00:47:31.440 --> 00:47:34.119
 that's what he says

00:47:34.119 --> 00:47:35.099
 but lo

00:47:35.099 --> 00:47:37.619
 michael one of the chief princes

00:47:37.619 --> 00:47:39.019
 came to help me

00:47:39.019 --> 00:47:41.579
 and i remained there with the kings of persia

00:47:41.579 --> 00:47:43.159
 and we finally made it

00:47:43.159 --> 00:47:46.980
 now i am come to make the understand

00:47:46.980 --> 00:47:50.179
 which shall befall thy people in the latter days

00:47:50.179 --> 00:47:52.899
 i'm come to give you more of the vision

00:47:52.900 --> 00:47:56.840
 i know i've reviewed 15 minutes

00:47:56.840 --> 00:47:57.860
 and talked for 25

00:47:57.860 --> 00:48:03.059
 but don't talk to me anymore about persistent praying

00:48:03.059 --> 00:48:04.059
 it's necessary

00:48:04.059 --> 00:48:11.500
 drop back to verse 19 as i close

00:48:11.500 --> 00:48:18.960
 you realize again i personally believe that daniel saw christ again in verse 16

00:48:18.960 --> 00:48:28.019
 and behold one like the similitude of the sons of men touched me it wasn't the son of men but one like him touched my lips

00:48:28.019 --> 00:48:38.019
 then i opened my mouth and spake and said unto him that stood before me oh my lord by the vision now kindly notice physically and mentally he's exhausted again

00:48:38.019 --> 00:48:40.579
 i wish i'd get that across to you

00:48:40.579 --> 00:48:44.400
 i'm not playing on your mercy

00:48:44.400 --> 00:48:45.579
 there is none

00:48:45.579 --> 00:48:49.860
 but once in a while your pastor gets tired

00:48:49.860 --> 00:48:55.620
 you know i don't even have to reduce on sunday did you know that

00:48:55.620 --> 00:48:59.620
 i lose five pounds every sunday from morning till night

00:48:59.620 --> 00:49:04.039
 don't even have to try

00:49:04.039 --> 00:49:07.860
 the more knowledge

00:49:07.860 --> 00:49:09.780
 the more responsibility

00:49:09.780 --> 00:49:11.400
 the more exhaustion

00:49:11.400 --> 00:49:15.700
 if you're a sunday school teacher you know what i'm talking about

00:49:15.700 --> 00:49:18.920
 if you've ever stood before a group of people

00:49:18.920 --> 00:49:26.059
 and done everything from start to finish and try to make it honor christ and not honor yourself when you're done you're exhausted

00:49:26.059 --> 00:49:32.840
 you can always do it on yourself if i could get up here to honor myself i could put a big show on real easy that's no problem at all that's like falling off a law

00:49:32.840 --> 00:49:36.680
 but not to do it for christ

00:49:36.680 --> 00:49:45.180
 and daniel is exhausted again and he says my lord by the vision my sorrows are turned upon me and i've retained no strength

00:49:45.179 --> 00:49:52.319
 for how can the servant of this my lord talk with this my lord for as for me straightway there remaineth no strength in me neither is any breath

00:49:52.320 --> 00:49:53.320
 left in me

00:49:53.320 --> 00:49:59.460
 then there came again and touched me one like the appearance of a man that's different than one touched by the similitude of a man i personally think

00:49:59.460 --> 00:50:00.460
 this is an angel again

00:50:00.460 --> 00:50:02.960
 and he strengthened me

00:50:02.960 --> 00:50:04.400
 and he said

00:50:04.400 --> 00:50:09.800
 oh man greatly beloved you don't compromise you pray you're faithful you're intelligent you're willing

00:50:09.800 --> 00:50:13.580
 you do your everyday job you look at everything through the eyes of the lord

00:50:13.579 --> 00:50:17.179
 now he gives you three things that i want to send you home with

00:50:19.019 --> 00:50:19.659
 fear not

00:50:21.179 --> 00:50:21.900
 in that grave

00:50:24.139 --> 00:50:26.460
 peace be unto thee

00:50:28.059 --> 00:50:29.259
 now change the translation

00:50:30.940 --> 00:50:31.579
 have faith

00:50:34.539 --> 00:50:36.139
 you can't be strong without faith

00:50:36.139 --> 00:50:41.339
 and when he had spoken unto me

00:50:41.339 --> 00:50:43.019
 i

00:50:43.019 --> 00:50:44.779
 was what class

00:50:44.779 --> 00:50:46.379
 they

00:50:46.379 --> 00:50:49.179
 that wait upon the lord

00:50:50.779 --> 00:50:52.219
 shall renew their strength

00:50:54.779 --> 00:50:57.099
 you know why some of you 20 year olds are always tired

00:50:57.980 --> 00:50:58.539
 hmm

00:50:58.539 --> 00:51:01.099
 it's because you don't wait on the lord

00:51:01.099 --> 00:51:09.179
 you know why some 60 year olds have got more energy than anybody else it's because they put the lord first

00:51:12.139 --> 00:51:12.940
 said fear not

00:51:14.139 --> 00:51:14.940
 peace daniel

00:51:16.299 --> 00:51:16.940
 have faith

00:51:17.980 --> 00:51:18.940
 immediately when he spoke

00:51:20.380 --> 00:51:21.259
 i was strengthened

00:51:22.779 --> 00:51:24.619
 and said let my lord speak

00:51:25.900 --> 00:51:27.259
 for thou has strengthened me

00:51:28.380 --> 00:51:29.179
 let's stop there

00:51:31.420 --> 00:51:32.299
 what about angels

00:51:33.900 --> 00:51:34.860
 what about demons

00:51:35.980 --> 00:51:37.019
 what about prayer

00:51:38.299 --> 00:51:39.739
 most of you think i'm crazy

00:51:42.539 --> 00:51:48.139
 i want you here on wednesday night to defeat the powers of the principality of the air

00:51:50.779 --> 00:51:51.739
 and it's above us

00:51:53.500 --> 00:51:58.699
 and every prayer that's answered's got to come through that fight with satan

00:51:58.699 --> 00:52:03.099
 and sometimes it takes 21 days

00:52:05.739 --> 00:52:07.500
 if daniel had stopped praying

00:52:09.739 --> 00:52:19.099
 god might not have sent michael to help the angel and the angel would have been defeated in bringing the force to end now all of you are going to say well that couldn't be it could have been

00:52:19.099 --> 00:52:20.460
 why didn't he just go back there

00:52:21.500 --> 00:52:26.860
 if the angel was strong enough to get through by himself why didn't he just push the demons out of the way and say you guys can't do anything to me

00:52:27.900 --> 00:52:29.579
 he didn't make it for 21 days

00:52:30.699 --> 00:52:37.659
 and he says when i get back to go through the the princes of persia on behalf of the people then i have to come back and fight the prince of greece

00:52:41.099 --> 00:52:41.819
!

00:52:41.820 --> 00:52:48.780
 that's a picture of a man greatly beloved

00:52:49.660 --> 00:52:51.660
 here's a picture of answers to prayer

00:52:52.380 --> 00:52:52.780
 based

00:52:53.820 --> 00:52:55.100
 on our willingness to pray

00:52:55.100 --> 00:52:56.539
 heavenly father thank you for the word

00:52:57.660 --> 00:53:01.180
 you take it tonight and you use it we've come to this place now and daniel

00:53:02.059 --> 00:53:03.660
 that maybe we can look

00:53:03.660 --> 00:53:05.660
 at that which you give to us

00:53:07.019 --> 00:53:09.580
 maybe tonight we can look again at the privilege of prayer

00:53:09.579 --> 00:53:14.460
 and the privilege of a crucified buried risen ascended christ

00:53:16.380 --> 00:53:19.099
 who says to us be of good courage

00:53:20.860 --> 00:53:23.980
 be strong in the lord put on the armor of his might

00:53:26.460 --> 00:53:27.259
 and stand

00:53:29.659 --> 00:53:33.259
 our father as we read this passage and put it together with the armor

00:53:33.260 --> 00:53:38.700
 where you said put on the whole armor of god that you maybe will stand against the wiles of the devil

00:53:40.620 --> 00:53:43.980
 certainly one of his wiles is to stop answered prayer

00:53:45.660 --> 00:53:49.340
 maybe that's true in this work maybe that's true with a building we really don't know

00:53:49.340 --> 00:53:52.140
 but we've kept on praying

00:53:54.300 --> 00:53:56.460
 close the service for the glory of christ

00:53:57.740 --> 00:53:58.140
 amen

00:53:58.140 --> 00:54:02.860
 i'd have you sing a stanza or two of our hymn of the month oh he's a wonderful savior it fits in

00:54:03.500 --> 00:54:05.820
 with the high priest and the atonement and the girded

00:54:06.380 --> 00:54:11.019
 girdle of gold and the eyes and the piercing brass

00:54:11.019 --> 00:54:17.739
 and the voice of many waters he's a wonderful savior 41 shall we stand and close the day in the lord

00:54:23.820 --> 00:54:31.820
 oh he's a wonderful savior glory to him we ascribe

00:54:31.820 --> 00:54:40.620
 oh he's a wonderful savior who can his mercies describe

00:54:40.620 --> 00:54:44.940
 going to dark calvary

00:54:46.940 --> 00:54:49.580
 dying our death on that tree

00:54:51.500 --> 00:54:55.420
 oh he's a wonderful savior

00:54:56.700 --> 00:54:59.420
 wonderful savior is he
