Judah in the fourth year of Ahab, king of Israel. 00:03:14.580 --> 00:03:18.080 Jehoshaphat was 35 years old when he became king, 00:03:18.540 --> 00:03:21.860 and he reigned in Jerusalem for 25 years. 00:03:22.000 --> 00:03:26.180 So he certainly brought stability to the nation. 00:03:26.180 --> 00:03:29.980 His mother's name was Azuba, daughter of Shili. 00:03:30.099 --> 00:03:34.680 In everything he followed the ways of his father Asa, 00:03:34.879 --> 00:03:37.040 and did not stray from them. 00:03:37.480 --> 00:03:41.260 He did what was right in the eyes of the Lord. 00:03:41.259 --> 00:03:46.079 I wonder if you remember his father, king Asa. 00:03:46.759 --> 00:03:54.959 In chapter 15, we're told that Asa's heart was fully committed to the Lord all his life. 00:03:55.899 --> 00:03:57.139 Asa was a good king. 00:03:57.620 --> 00:04:02.680 And now Jehoshaphat, his son, is following in the father's ways. 00:04:03.299 --> 00:04:06.500 In fact, his royal record proves it. exploits, 00:04:15.860 --> 00:04:20.660 are they not written in the book of the annals of the king of Judah? 00:04:21.959 --> 00:04:23.639 He won lots of battles. 00:04:24.319 --> 00:04:25.899 He did good things. 00:04:27.240 --> 00:04:31.699 And he's concerned that people love God and worship God. 00:04:31.699 --> 00:04:38.300 In verse 46, he rid the land of the rest of the male shrine prostitutes 00:04:38.300 --> 00:04:42.939 who remained there even after the reign of his father Asa. 00:04:43.639 --> 00:04:48.039 So these were shrines where prostitutes would have been, 00:04:48.319 --> 00:04:52.819 and part of all that carried on was in some ways to enhance 00:04:52.819 --> 00:04:57.959 or to bring fertility to the land for the rains to come and so forth. 00:04:58.039 --> 00:05:00.779 But his father had left some of them behind. 00:05:00.779 --> 00:05:04.699 And it's like, well, Jehoshaphat has done one better than his father. 00:05:04.859 --> 00:05:06.139 He's got rid
