00:02:17.639 That's a pretty good encouragement, right? 00:02:17.659 --> 00:02:21.139 A pretty good reason for us to think highly of God's word. 00:02:21.240 --> 00:02:27.319 In fact, Jesus said that he came not to abolish the law and the prophets, but to fulfill it. 00:02:27.560 --> 00:02:30.520 Every jot and tittle was important to him, right? 00:02:31.740 --> 00:02:37.659 When he spoke to the crowds and the religious leaders and he quoted the scriptures to them, 00:02:37.659 --> 00:02:42.099 he asserted that they cannot be broken. 00:02:42.299 --> 00:02:44.120 They're perfect, right? 00:02:44.479 --> 00:02:45.319 That was his view. 00:02:47.120 --> 00:02:52.439 Perhaps most profoundly and helpfully for us, when Jesus is tempted by Satan, 00:02:53.879 --> 00:02:58.939 he reminds us that man cannot live by bread alone. 00:02:59.620 --> 00:03:00.699 We need more than that. 00:03:00.699 --> 00:03:07.259 Man lives by every word that comes from the mouth of God. 00:03:07.399 --> her. 00:07:21.719 --> 00:07:24.439 Or you can actually spend time together. 00:07:24.439 --> 00:07:35.100 The psalmist writes here about the blessed, happy person delighting in God's word. 00:07:36.079 --> 00:07:39.959 And what a wonder that we can even do that, right? 00:07:40.000 --> 00:07:49.159 We contemplated that last week that God, the king and creator of the universe and us, speaks to us. 00:07:49.160 --> 00:08:00.820 When he speaks, when we have his word, when we long to delight in what God says, how do we do that? 00:08:02.040 --> 00:08:05.560 How do we listen to it? 00:08:06.760 --> 00:08:17.140 Is it so precious that we take our copy of the Bible and we put it far away so that we never touch it and make sure the spine doesn't get cracked and that's how we delight in it? 00:08:17.139 --> 00:08:29.879 Or do we take it and we so want to delight in God's word that we sleep with it under our pillow every night and hope that by doing that, our relationship with God will grow deeper? 00:08:30.019 --> 00:08:32.539 Is that how we delight in God's word? 00:08:34.620 --> 00:08:37.960 Well, let's be practical today. 00:08:37.960 --> 00:08:53.500 How does God direct us to listen to him as he speaks so that our lives are transformed so that we live with him the way he made us to, the way we so long to experience in our lives? 00:08:54.740 --> 00:09:00.759 I hope not surprisingly, the first part of listening is to engage our ears. 00:09:00.759 --> 00:09:06.740 We actually need to sit with God's word regularly. 00:09:06.879 --> 00:09:09.080 Oh, how I need that. 00:09:09.740 --> 00:09:18.319 Do you feel that need to listen, to hear what God is saying and how he would shape our lives? 00:09:18.480 --> 00:09:20.399 There's so many other things to listen to. 00:09:20.399 --> 00:09:28.460 The psalmist says, the blessed one, on his law, he meditates day and night. 00:09:28.460 --> 00:09:36.820 Friends, to walk in relationship with Jesus means regularly if we're auditory learners, are finding that very helpful these days as you can listen to the scriptures read even as you look at them or even as you drive. 00:09:54.299 --> 00:09:57.639 Maybe at microphones, right? 00:19:57.099 --> 00:19:58.779 So they're going through the crowds of people, 00:19:58.779 --> 00:20:03.079 helping them understand what's being read. 00:20:03.079 --> 00:20:06.819 Verse 8, they gave the sense 00:20:06.819 --> 00:20:11.000 so the people understood the reading. 00:20:11.700 --> 00:20:14.220 It's important to hear God's Word. 00:20:14.359 --> 00:20:17.160 It's
