of humility and being teachable by other believers, Priscilla and Aquila there, 00:01:21.379 --> 00:01:26.400 and a model of reputation as he really defended the gospel against all its opponents. telling just a lot of where Paul went. 00:05:20.219 --> 00:05:25.980 There's not much talk here in Acts 20 about why he was going to all these different places. 00:05:26.099 --> 00:05:29.879 But if we look at a lot of different cross-references from a few of his letters, 00:05:29.959 --> 00:05:33.199 we can piece together what all was going on there. 00:05:34.279 --> 00:05:39.939 And the second, it really is a pretty crazy story of Paul preaching for a really, really, really long time. 00:05:39.939 --> 00:05:41.800 A young man getting very sleepy. 00:05:42.519 --> 00:05:46.259 It was probably then he was raised from the dead. 00:05:51.500 --> 00:05:54.500 So these are two really, really awesome things. 00:05:54.959 --> 00:05:58.759 But if you look through this passage, there isn't really a big theological statement. 00:05:58.959 --> 00:06:01.060 There's not a big exhortation. 00:06:01.159 --> 00:06:04.339 There's not a big spot where it's explaining some key piece of doctrine. 00:06:04.339 --> 00:06:08.579 But, as we just talked about from 2 Timothy, 00:06:08.919 --> 00:06:12.039 all scripture is read that by God and profitable for teaching, 00:06:12.299 --> 00:06:15.299 for proof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 00:06:15.959 --> 00:06:19.179 that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work. 00:06:19.479 --> 00:06:21.079 So this is true of this passage. 00:06:21.299 --> 00:06:25.179 And it has proven true so much for me and my study. 00:06:25.239 --> 00:06:27.019 And I hope it is for you this morning. 00:06:27.019 --> 00:06:30.599 So the more I studied it and the more I looked at it, 00:06:30.639 --> 00:06:35.899 I was seeing very clearly just so many ways in which Paul demonstrates his love for the church. 00:07:49.959 --> 00:07:52.399 and that's the context where we'll pick up reading. 00:07:53.519 --> 00:07:55.439 But he's explaining currently 00:07:55.439 --> 00:07:57.879 that he is trying to get to Jerusalem, 00:07:58.319 --> 00:08:00.239 doesn't want to visit them in Rome yet 00:08:00.239 --> 00:08:01.439 because he's trying to get there, 00:08:01.819 --> 00:08:02.879 because he's bringing support 00:08:02.879 --> 00:08:04.439 to some poor believers that are there. 00:08:04.819 --> 00:08:06.739 So let's read it in Romans 15, 00:08:06.839 --> 00:08:08.479 verses 25 through 29. layer of accountability there 00:12:16.780 --> 00:12:19.640 to show that Paul is not using the money 00:12:19.640 --> 00:12:21.300 for his own good 00:12:21.300 --> 00:12:24.460 or just trying to sneak money away somehow, 00:12:25.000 --> 00:12:26.580 just to prove to the churches 00:12:26.580 --> 00:12:28.960 that he's being faithful to what he has set out to do. 00:12:30.560 --> 00:12:34.260 look at a couple of spots 00:14:22.179 --> 00:14:23.700 where we can see Paul praying 00:14:23.700 --> 00:14:25.759 for believers in different areas. 00:14:26.259 --> 00:14:28.860 So first off, let's turn to Ephesians 1. 00:14:34.460 --> 00:14:36.360 So really what I'm doing with these passages 00:14:36.360 --> 00:14:39.360 is trying to show us some of what Paul's heart is 00:14:39.360 --> 00:14:41.659 in building up the church spiritually there. 00:14:44.279 --> 00:14:45.679 So here in Ephesians 1, 00:14:45.779 --> 00:14:48.399 this is a prayer of Paul's for the local church. 00:14:48.500 --> 00:14:50.460 At Ephesus, the one we just, 00:14:50.759 --> 00:14:53.039 in chapter 19, we'll hear about from Clay, 00:14:54.000 --> 00:14:55.299 where the riot was and all that. 00:22:08.240 And so he did not just keep going 00:22:08.240 --> 00:22:10.339 and keep pressing on, 00:22:10.460 --> 00:22:11.420 hurrying on this journey. 00:22:11.880 --> 00:22:13.779 He was so available to them 00:22:13.779 --> 00:22:15.180 and so persistent with them 00:22:15.180 --> 00:22:18.440 and just tireless in his efforts here. 00:22:19.779 --> 00:22:21.440 And so since he loves
