32. 00:26:48.359 --> 00:26:53.720 They are the people with whom God has made his saving covenant. 00:26:53.720 --> 00:26:58.000 And on whom he has set his steadfast love. 00:26:59.000 --> 00:27:05.079 They are the people who are surrounded by the steadfast love of the Lord. 00:27:05.200 --> 00:27:07.799 And while the counsel of the nations comes to nothing, 00:27:07.920 --> 00:27:12.279 we're told And how did they become God's people? 00:31:09.819 --> 00:31:17.000 Peter goes on to say, once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy. 00:31:17.939 --> 00:31:21.419 What is the blessing of being his? 00:31:22.379 --> 00:31:28.199 It is that he has poured out his mercy on us in the forgiveness of our sins. 00:31:29.859 --> 00:31:36.519 God's unthwartable plan was to save a people through forgiving their sins and adopting them as his own children. 00:31:36.859 --> 00:31:42.019 And he did that by sending his own son to atone for their sins on the cross. 00:31:44.579 -->
