shall conceive and bear a son and shall call his name Emmanuel, right? 00:06:19.620 --> 00:06:21.920 This is to fulfill the prophet. 00:06:22.600 --> 00:06:26.920 In chapter two, how did the wise men know they need to go to Bethlehem? 00:06:27.420 --> 00:06:29.740 Well, two, verse five. 00:06:29.840 --> 00:06:35.819 They told him in Bethlehem of Judea, for so it is written by the prophet, et cetera. 00:06:35.819 --> 00:06:40.300 And then it goes on in chapter two, and this was two, verse 15. 00:06:40.459 --> 00:06:42.759 This was to fulfill what the Lord had spoken by the prophet. 00:06:43.480 --> 00:06:47.219 2.17, then was fulfilled what was spoken by the prophet Jeremiah, right? 00:06:47.459 --> 00:06:51.839 All through, it's kind of, okay, Jesus fulfills all these prophecies. 00:06:54.139 --> 00:06:55.939 Now, this is absolutely true. 00:06:56.240 --> 00:06:59.899 It's not just Jesus' birth, Jesus' death on the cross. 00:06:59.899 --> 00:07:05.739 You know, there's like these really detailed predictions from like a thousand years before Jesus actually died. 00:07:06.139 --> 00:07:07.719 That's pretty amazing. 00:07:08.039 --> 00:07:09.639 Now, why is that? 00:07:09.739 --> 00:07:12.539 Partly, it's helpful to recognize Jesus, right? 00:07:12.560 --> 00:07:15.099 That they were waiting for Jesus, they were waiting for the Messiah. 00:07:15.459 --> --> 00:09:50.800 This is about history. 00:09:50.980 --> 00:09:53.159 The Old Testament is a book of history. 00:09:53.480 --> 00:09:56.940 And Jesus, well, he came at the end of that history.
