life of deep dependence on God. 00:07:29.080 --> 00:07:34.800 So that the objective or the goal of his life was stated this way. 00:07:35.460 --> 00:07:42.400 I have joyfully dedicated my whole life to show how much may be accomplished by prayer and faith. 00:07:42.399 --> 00:07:45.879 And if you were to write a summary over his entire life, 00:07:46.120 --> 00:07:47.939 that no better summary would exist. 00:07:48.799 --> 00:07:49.599 He was a pastor. 00:07:50.299 --> 00:07:52.359 He was one who founded a Bible college. 00:07:52.620 --> 00:07:57.319 He started an orphanage that over the course of the ministry, 00:07:57.739 --> 00:08:01.919 over 10,000 children were a part of his orphanage. 00:08:01.920 --> 00:08:07.780 And he trusted God to provide the means to provide for all of those children. 00:08:09.660 --> 00:08:12.140 Throughout the duration of his life, he learned, of course, 00:08:12.319 --> 00:08:13.900 lessons on dependence and faith. 00:08:14.819 --> 00:08:17.420 Let me just share briefly some of the things that he said. 00:08:18.720 --> 00:08:19.060 He says, 00:08:19.139 --> 00:08:23.520 We should not shrink from opportunities where our faith may be tried. 00:08:24.240 --> 00:08:27.680 The more I'm in a position to be tried in faith, 00:08:27.680 --> 00:08:31.840 the more I will have the opportunity of seeing God's help and deliverance. 00:08:32.920 --> 00:08:38.659 Every fresh instance in which he helps and delivers me will increase my faith. 00:08:39.580 --> 00:08:45.460 The believer should not shrink from situations, positions, or circumstances in of the Jordan. 00:09:43.939 --> 00:09:49.000 He's going to make his way into Jericho and ultimately up to Jerusalem. 00:09:50.099 --> 00:09:51.339 We know what he waits him there. 00:09:51.340 --> 00:10:01.660 And here in these final moments and teachings of Jesus, he's interested in helping his disciples and those who listen 00:10:01.660 --> 00:10:04.560 understand the significance of faith against those who are self-reliant. 00:10:47.820 --> 00:10:54.860 We find he told this parable to some who trusted in themselves that they were righteous and treated others with contempt. 00:10:55.660 comes, rather than praying to God, we find that he's praying about himself. 00:11:29.759 --> 00:11:32.639 Some translations will say he prayed to himself. 00:11:32.819 --> 00:11:34.139 And that may be more accurate. 00:11:35.240 --> 00:11:36.740 He's the center of his prayer. 00:11:36.740 --> 00:11:40.519 He's really the only person he cares about. 00:11:40.700 --> 00:11:46.580 And he wants to This deep dependence on God. 00:12:14.220 --> 00:12:19.820 He recognizes something is true about God's character, that he is a God of mercy. 00:12:20.080 --> 00:12:27.080 And this word for mercy is
