00:05:13.100 It's like when you redeem a voucher in Tesco. 00:05:13.540 --> 00:05:19.500 But the word redemption in the Bible is a very different use to how we use it. 00:05:19.740 --> 00:05:20.600 If we use it at all. 00:05:20.959 --> 00:05:23.620 Redemption in the Bible is to do with slavery. 00:05:23.620 --> 00:05:27.720 So if there's a slave who belongs to a slave owner. 00:05:28.280 --> 00:08:33.000 And in some way, the story of the Bible is a story about the quest for blood. 00:08:34.460 --> 00:08:37.740 Ever since the fall, we've needed blood. 00:08:38.340 --> 00:08:40.960 Because blood deals with sin. 00:08:41.899 --> 00:08:43.860 Hebrews, the book of Hebrews says, 00:08:44.220 --> 00:08:48.639 Without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness of sins. 00:08:48.639 --> 00:08:51.259 That's a big statement. 00:08:52.399 --> 00:08:56.480 So you here today, you here need something. 00:08:57.319 --> 00:08:59.720 And it doesn't matter who you are or what you've done. law, which we read earlier. 00:09:32.680 --> 00:09:33.580 He was given the law. 00:09:33.899 --> 00:09:36.379 And the law is more than the Ten Commandments. 00:09:36.720 --> 00:09:40.160 The law includes sacrifices to deal with sin. 00:09:40.159 --> 00:09:46.519 Sacrifices to deal with sin so that we could dwell with God. 00:09:47.319 --> 00:09:50.939 Animals had to be killed and blood shed to deal with sin in Israel. 00:10:10.480 --> 00:10:13.100 But the book of Hebrews says something about that blood 00:10:13.100 --> 00:10:14.559 that was shed. 00:10:15.939 --> 00:10:16.720 Hebrews says, 00:10:17.139 --> 00:10:20.579 it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats 00:10:20.579 --> 00:10:21.799 to take away sins. 00:10:21.799 --> 00:10:25.559 All that blood in the Old Testament 00:10:25.559 --> 00:10:28.599 did nothing for our sin. 00:10:29.959 --> 00:10:32.659 So a question hangs over the human story. 00:10:33.719 --> 00:10:35.899 Whose blood will save us? 00:10:36.959 --> 00:10:40.779 Whose blood is good enough to forgive our sins? 00:10:42.539 --> 00:10:45.539 Well, I have the privilege and the joy to declare today 00:10:45.539 --> 00:10:47.379 there is an answer. 00:10:47.559 --> 00:10:48.419 And the answer is here. 00:10:48.419 --> 00:10:52.779 In Jesus, we have redemption through his blood. 00:10:53.559 --> 00:10:55.759 The forgiveness of our trespasses.
