Numbers chapter 15, verse 1. 00:00:17.359 --> 00:00:26.060 The Lord spoke to Moses, saying, Speak to the people of Israel and say to them, When you come into the land you are to inhabit, which I am giving you. 00:00:26.059 --> 00:00:41.560 And you offer to the Lord from the herd or from the flock a food offering or a burnt offering or a sacrifice to fulfill a vow or as a freewill offering or at your appointed feast to make a pleasing aroma to the Lord. 00:00:41.560 --> 00:00:53.300 Then he who brings his offering shall offer to the Lord a grain offering of a tenth of an ephah of fine flour takes them through the wilderness towards the promised land. 00:11:07.980 --> 00:11:11.100 The promised land is a land of flourishing and thriving life. 00:11:11.400 --> 00:11:13.940 But as they go from Egypt to the promised land, 00:11:13.980 --> 00:11:15.240 they've got to go through the wilderness, 00:11:15.400 --> 00:11:16.720 and they've got to live by faith. 00:11:16.759 --> 00:11:18.259 They've got to trust God in the wilderness. 00:11:18.259 --> 00:11:22.519 And we've been saying this is an apt analogy for the Christian life. 00:11:22.899 --> 00:11:25.819 Those of us that are Christians know that we too have been saved 00:11:25.819 --> 00:11:27.700 from a terrible, terrible past, 00:11:28.100 --> 00:11:30.259 a slavery from which we could not save ourselves. 00:11:30.879 --> 00:11:33.279 We were under God's wrath and judgment in hell. 00:11:33.799 --> 00:11:34.860 And God has saved us, 00:11:34.919 --> 00:11:37.399 and He's bringing us through to the new creation, 00:11:43.039 --> 00:11:44.840 we've got to travel through this wilderness, 00:11:45.100 --> 00:11:47.399 this life, this wilderness of faith. 00:11:47.399 --> 00:11:50.659 And on this journey of faith, we must trust Him. 00:11:51.439 --> 00:11:55.079 And so the book of Numbers is about how God's people are called to trust Him 00:11:55.079 --> 00:11:58.259 and hold on to Him and live by faith on the journey through the wilderness. 00:11:59.000 --> 00:12:03.079 But if living by faith and trusting the sovereign God is the one thing they call to do, 00:12:03.159 --> 00:12:04.959 it's the one 00:13:47.279 --> 00:13:51.439 It's like this beautiful rich vein of gold in a dark, dank mine. 00:13:52.240 --> 00:13:54.299 And we're going to see something of God's grace. 00:13:54.419 --> 00:13:56.219 So let's dive in and look at it. 00:13:56.259 --> 00:13:58.459 Firstly, encountering God's grace. 00:13:58.719 --> 00:13:59.500 Encountering grace. 00:13:59.500 --> 00:14:03.120 I don't
