00:07:09.620 --> 00:07:11.740 These are the who's who, right, in the history of science. 00:07:12.240 --> 00:07:17.759 And these people, they are great scientists, and they were also devout Christians. 00:07:18.220 --> 00:07:23.480 And even today, we still have many intelligent scientists who are Christians, Bible believers. 00:07:24.540 --> 00:07:31.240 People like Francis Collins, who was the director of the Human Genome Project, 00:07:31.240 --> 00:07:35.000 where they charted the human genome back in 2003. 00:07:35.160 --> 00:07:38.560 And he's now the director of NIH, the National Institute of Health. 00:07:38.660 --> 00:07:39.800 You see him in the news very often. 00:07:40.000 --> 00:07:45.519 They are at the forefront of trying to come up with a vaccine for the coronavirus. 00:07:45.860 --> 00:07:47.060 And he's a very devout Christian. 00:07:48.540 --> 00:07:51.280 And there is also Cambridge physicist John Porkinghorne 00:07:51.280 --> 00:07:52.680 and Harvard astronomer Owen Gingrich. 00:07:53.019 --> 00:07:54.340 And there are many, many others, right? 00:07:54.819 --> 00:08:00.240 So, you might wonder, why do these great scientists believe that there's a God, right? 00:08:00.240 --> 00:08:05.519 Now, you might think that, well, I cannot see God, right? 00:08:05.579 --> 00:08:09.180 So, how do I, you know, so why should I believe that he exists? 00:08:09.560 --> 00:08:12.420 And why would these intelligent scientists believe that God exists? 00:08:14.319 --> 00:08:15.680 Now, look at this picture. 00:08:16.560 --> 00:08:17.340 Do you see anyone there? 00:10:09.339 --> 00:10:12.739 Isaac Newton was one of the greatest scientists in the history of science. 00:10:13.759 --> 00:10:20.399 And the modern world, which we live in right now, is in a large part credited to him, right? 00:10:20.399 --> 00:10:24.799 Because of the laws that he discovered, right? 00:10:24.899 --> 00:10:26.220 The laws that he formulated, right? 00:10:26.240 --> 00:10:27.840 The laws of motion, the laws of gravity. 00:10:29.779 --> 00:10:33.480 The scientists are able to launch rockets, right? 00:10:33.559 --> 00:10:38.740 Engineers design buildings, and inventors create motor cars, right? 00:10:39.100 --> 00:10:45.019 So, when scientists do this, they all use Newton's laws, right? 00:10:45.079 --> 00:10:47.279 So, we call this Newton's laws. 00:10:47.279 --> 00:10:52.360 And so, people would say, we should thank Newton, right, for this, right? 00:10:53.179 --> 00:10:56.779 However, Newton did not actually create these laws, right? 00:10:57.519 --> 00:10:59.759 Newton only discovered these laws, right? 00:11:00.419 --> 00:11:04.100 He was not the one who is responsible for putting these laws there, right? 00:11:04.100 --> 00:11:05.360 He only discovered them. 00:11:06.019 --> 00:11:09.720 Even before Newton discovered these laws, these laws were already there, right? 00:11:10.159 --> 00:11:11.439 So, we need to ask, right? 00:13:05.980 --> 00:13:08.299 So, when we look at all these amazing equations, right? 00:13:08.299 --> 00:13:12.500 These equations are like a kind of software of the universe, right? 00:13:12.600 --> 00:13:14.100 They're a kind of program of the universe. 00:13:14.240 --> 00:13:16.019 So, once you understand these equations, right, 00:13:16.019 --> 00:13:17.960 you know how the universe works, right? 00:13:18.500 --> 00:13:22.740 So, we need to ask where did this software come from, right? 00:13:23.019 --> 00:13:26.340 Now, obviously, a software couldn't have came about without a software engineer, right? 00:13:59.659 --> 00:14:03.439 So, if you are into science, right, you have this sense of wonder, right? 00:14:03.439 --> 00:14:05.360 You discover how amazing our universe is. 00:14:05.480 --> 00:14:06.319 Wow, right? 00:14:07.059 --> 00:14:15.399 And scientists feel this genuine sense of wonder at the rational beauty that is revealed in the scientific inquiry. 00:14:15.399 --> 00:14:21.059 Now, science itself can offer no explanation for why the universe should be like this, right? 00:15:00.779 --> 00:15:10.539 And that's why John Polkinghorne goes on to say that science survey a world whose order makes it appear sought through with the science of a mind, of intelligence. 00:15:10.539 --> 00:15:19.339 And the religious believer can affirm that this is so because it is indeed the mind of God that is revealed in the works of creation, right? 00:17:14.960 --> 00:17:19.960 So the resurrection of Jesus is the reason why they choose to believe in a Christian God. 00:17:19.960 --> 00:17:26.579 Now, the resurrection of Jesus is highly significant. 00:17:28.180 --> 00:17:31.079 Why? Because it is the central claim of Christianity. 00:17:31.660 --> 00:17:34.680 In the book of Acts in the Bible, it says that, 00:17:34.940 --> 00:17:41.840 for God has set a day when he will judge 00:24:27.819 This is a historical fact that is testified by multiple independent historical sources. 00:24:27.819 --> 00:24:35.819 And moreover, very soon after he was crucified, a number of people had experiences that they 00:24:35.819 --> 00:24:38.639 believed were the appearances of the risen Jesus, right? 00:24:38.640 --> 00:24:43.120 So, you know, a number of people saw him alive after he was crucified. 00:24:43.940 --> 00:24:46.940 And the body of Jesus was missing, right? 00:24:47.000 --> 00:24:49.200 The body was no longer there, right? 00:24:49.380 --> 00:24:56.340 So, these three historical facts are widely agreed upon by historians, because without these 00:24:56.340 --> 00:25:00.180 historical facts, you cannot explain how did Christianity began, right? 00:25:01.640 -->
