fear, such things. 00:02:39.159 --> 00:02:45.959 And they say that they've seen a 170% increase in their web traffic. 00:02:46.959 --> 00:02:55.579 And that's because fear, which is a spiritual malady, spreads even more virulently than the virus itself. 00:02:55.580 --> 00:03:03.920 And this presents a great opportunity for us as Christians to offer the hope of eternal life found in Jesus series in 1 John, 00:04:19.980 --> 00:04:24.639 you know that John has been emphasizing throughout the letter that faith in Jesus Christ 00:04:24.639 --> 00:04:28.939 and love for our brothers and sisters in Christ are the twin test, 00:04:28.939 --> 00:04:33.579 kind of two-pronged tests of whether or not our conversion is genuine, 00:04:33.660 --> 00:04:36.639 whether or not we really belong to God and are born of God. 00:04:36.959 --> 00:04:39.360 And here he is referencing those two things again. 00:04:40.019 --> 00:04:44.279 First, everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has been born of God. 00:04:44.519 --> 00:04:45.699 So this is the first test. 00:04:46.579 --> 00:04:52.079 Christ is not Jesus' last name, but it's his title, which means anointed one, 00:04:52.560 --> 00:04:55.459 referring to the fact that he is the messianic king, 00:04:55.459 --> 00:04:58.339 the prophesied king that was to come to deliver his people. 00:04:59.600 --> 00:05:04.699 And if you believe that Jesus is this king, the son of God, Jesus is the Christ, 00:05:04.860 --> 00:05:08.180 then you have been born again into God's family. 00:05:09.079 --> 00:05:10.800 And there is no hate his children? 00:07:20.720 --> 00:07:26.840 How can your love for your father not express itself naturally in your love for his children, 00:07:26.980 --> 00:07:28.420 your brothers and sisters in Christ? 00:07:28.420 --> 00:07:34.120 And so then how are we to know that we are indeed loving those who are born of God? 00:07:34.319 --> 00:07:36.040 How do we know that we are loving one belong to God's family 00:08:55.480 --> 00:08:58.700 is not a love for men apart from God, 00:08:59.259 --> 00:09:04.539 but a love for our brothers and sisters that is centered around the love of
