struggle. 00:06:18.019 --> 00:06:22.199 I can relate to the king in distress. 00:06:22.199 --> 00:06:24.459 I can relate to asking for strength. 00:06:25.539 --> 00:06:28.579 I can relate to pleading for deliverance. 00:06:29.159 --> 00:06:33.479 I can relate to wanting to succeed and not knowing if it will come. 00:06:34.699 --> 00:06:38.120 The struggle feels real and close. 00:06:38.799 --> 00:06:41.479 And victory of Psalm 21 feels far away. 00:06:41.480 --> 00:06:47.360 Sometimes it doesn't feel like I'm very victorious. 00:06:48.480 --> 00:06:50.720 Sometimes it feels like my enemies and considered it further, 00:07:31.519 --> 00:07:37.060 I realized a few things that helped me receive Psalm 21 and its praise, 00:07:37.419 --> 00:07:38.959 and I want to share those with you. 00:07:39.319 --> 00:07:46.539 Because as I read the passage, I saw three missteps, three mistakes we can make in looking at a passage like Psalm 21. 00:07:48.019 --> 00:07:52.639 There are three ways that we can miss what God is trying to show us in a passage like this. 00:07:52.639 --> 00:07:57.039 Whether you've been reading and studying the Scriptures for your entire life, 00:07:57.120 --> 00:07:59.639 for your 50, 60, 70, 80 years, 00:07:59.899 --> 00:08:04.240 or you've never looked at the Bible before, and this is the first time you've heard it, 00:08:05.399 --> 00:08:08.379 these things should help each one of us. 00:08:09.060 --> 00:08:13.879 First, it's mistaken timing, mistaken priority, and mistaken identity. 00:08:15.680 --> 00:08:17.199 Let's start with mistaken timing. 00:08:17.579 --> 00:08:20.099 That Psalm 21, verse 9 says, 00:08:20.100 --> 00:08:25.020 When you appear for battle, you will burn them up as in a blazing furnace. 00:08:25.939 --> 00:08:28.040 When you, you being God the Father, 00:08:28.160 --> 00:08:31.120 when you appear for battle, you will burn them up as in a blazing furnace. 00:08:31.180 --> 00:08:32.759 The key word in that verse is when. 00:08:33.659 --> 00:08:36.120 When you appear for battle, you will burn them up. 00:08:37.379 --> 00:08:40.340 The New King James Version puts it slightly differently, 00:08:40.899 --> 00:08:43.519 and maybe helps it make a little clearer what we're talking about. 00:08:43.519 --> 00:08:47.039 I'll wait for the siren to go. 00:08:49.039 --> 00:08:51.019 But in the NKJV, it says, 00:08:51.179 --> 00:08:55.079 You shall make them as a fiery oven in the time of your anger. 00:08:56.000 --> 00:08:56.799 It's like he's saying, 00:08:56.860 --> 00:09:01.039 God, you do what needs to be done, but do it in your time. 00:09:01.039 --> 00:09:05.240 See, the reality is we often assume 00:09:05.240 --> 00:09:09.059 that our understanding of time and timing 00:09:09.059 --> 00:09:11.319 is the right one, the only one. 00:09:12.199 --> 00:09:13.199 And it's understandable. 00:09:13.360 --> 00:09:16.240 It would be weird for us to pray to God and say, 00:09:16.319 --> 00:09:17.879 God, would you deliver me from this thing 00:09:17.879 --> 00:09:19.620 in like two months' time? 00:09:20.919 --> 00:09:21.179 Right? 00:09:21.240 --> 00:09:22.659 I can live with it a little bit longer. 00:09:23.240 --> 00:09:24.819 Maybe you have a few more lessons for me. 00:09:25.819 --> 00:09:28.419 No, but we think now is best. 00:09:29.039 --> 00:09:31.079 We think now is the because we feel like we're still in the middle of the fight. 00:11:06.159 --> 00:11:08.480 And it might be the middle of some crisis 00:11:09.019 --> 00:11:09.919 that we're facing, 00:11:10.179 --> 00:11:11.960 some thing that feels real, 00:11:12.139 --> 00:11:14.000 or just the fact that we're still in the world 00:11:14.000 --> 00:11:16.440 and sin is still here 00:11:16.440 --> 00:11:18.740 and Jesus hasn't come to deliver that final victory. 00:11:19.179 --> 00:11:21.559 And we miss the forest for the trees. 00:11:22.460 --> 00:11:22.659 Right? 00:11:22.679 --> 00:11:24.460 All we can communication is key to any relationship. 00:13:48.820 --> 00:13:52.120 And so prayer is our way to be that. 00:13:52.440 --> 00:13:56.340 And answered prayer is a particularly special thing, right? like 00:14:10.339 --> 00:14:11.399 our prayers aren't being answered. 00:14:12.239 --> 00:14:14.239 So when we feel that way, 00:14:14.299 --> 00:14:16.799 when we feel like our prayers are not being answered, 00:14:16.919 --> 00:14:18.779 when God might not be listening, 00:14:18.959 --> 00:14:20.699 when we feel like we cannot say 00:14:20.699 --> 00:14:22.959 that God has granted us our heart's
