Not really. Back in 1982, some crazy psycho in Chicago 00:01:04.379 --> 00:01:22.439 put cyanide-laced Tylenol capsules in some bottles in a drugstore. One lady took one of those cyanide-laced 00:01:22.439 --> 00:01:31.179 pills, thinking it was Tylenol, and it killed her. Before the whole thing was over, seven people, 00:01:32.019 --> 00:01:43.659 seven people lost their lives, thinking that they were taking Tylenol, a pain reducer, fever reducer. 00:01:43.659 --> 00:02:02.159 But it was laced with a poison that killed them. You know, there is an important lesson about faith in that tragic story. 00:02:03.159 --> 00:02:07.799 And that is, it's not enough to just sincerely believe something. 00:02:07.799 --> 00:02:15.539 Those people were as sincere as they could be in going in there and thinking that that bottle labeled Tylenol, 00:02:16.539 --> 00:02:17.719 that it would help them. 00:02:19.460 --> 00:02:22.479 But 00:09:22.319 As we begin this study on assurance, 00:09:23.319 --> 00:09:24.019 I want us to start out 00:09:24.019 --> 00:09:26.620 by noticing three kinds of assurance 00:09:26.620 --> 00:09:28.079 found in the Bible. 00:09:28.980 --> 00:09:31.219 First, right here in Matthew chapter 7, 00:09:31.579 --> 00:09:33.600 there is undeserved assurance, 00:09:34.199 --> 00:09:35.299 or we can call it they call Him Lord, 00:09:44.480 --> 00:09:48.240 but they shouldn't have that assurance. 00:09:49.219 --> 00:09:51.279 They have false assurance, 00:09:51.659 --> 00:09:52.779 undeserved assurance. 00:09:53.120 --> 00:09:53.699 Now what kind of people 00:09:53.699 --> 00:09:56.620 are Jesus talking about here? 00:09:57.860 --> 00:09:59.759 People who profess faith in Christ, 00:10:00.620 --> --> 00:10:15.459 Lord, Lord, 00:10:15.639 --> 00:10:17.439 will enter the kingdom of heaven. 00:10:18.659 --> 00:10:20.399 But the one who does the will of my Father 00:10:20.399 --> 00:10:21.339 who is in heaven, 00:10:21.439 --> 00:10:22.699 that's the one who will. 00:10:25.399 --> 00:10:27.199 He's talking about a false, 00:10:27.519 --> 00:10:29.319 or a faulty, 00:10:29.319 --> 00:10:31.659 profession of faith here. 00:10:33.740 --> 00:10:35.319 Here's what Jesus is wanting us to know. 00:10:36.199 --> 00:10:37.779 People who truly know Him, 00:10:38.339 --> 00:10:40.079 people who truly have a relationship with Him, 00:10:40.080 --> 00:10:43.520 people who really have true, 00:10:43.820 --> 00:10:44.900 saving faith, 00:10:45.080 --> 00:10:45.500 trust, 00:10:45.680 --> 00:10:46.740 confidence in Him, 00:10:48.240 --> 00:10:52.420 will also desire to please Him 00:10:52.420 --> 00:10:55.080 and be like Him 00:10:55.080 --> 00:10:58.379 in that they want to know and do the will of God. 00:10:59.240 --> 00:11:01.840 See, that was Jesus' food. 00:11:02.040 --> 00:11:03.540 That's what fueled Him. 00:11:03.720 --> 00:11:05.540 That's what kept Him going in this world. 00:11:05.539 --> 00:11:07.539 He wanted to know the will of His Father. 00:11:07.699 --> 00:11:09.120 He wanted to do the will of His Father. 00:11:09.299 --> 00:11:11.839 He wanted to bring glory and honor to His Father 00:11:11.839 --> 00:11:13.679 and all that He did in this world. 00:11:14.019 --> 00:11:15.459 And if we are His followers, 00:11:16.399 --> 00:11:19.000 we'll want to know the same. statement. 00:11:36.120 --> 00:11:37.780 As we pray, we pray to God, 00:11:38.000 --> 00:11:39.120 Your kingdom come. 00:11:39.580 --> 00:11:43.060 Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. 00:12:23.200 --> 00:12:26.440 de-emphasizing the fact 00:12:26.440 --> 00:12:29.560 that salvation is by the grace of God, 00:12:29.559 --> 00:12:31.239 it's unearned, it's undeserved, 00:12:31.819 --> 00:12:33.059 it's by the grace of God 00:12:33.059 --> 00:12:37.039 through faith in Jesus, 00:12:37.639 --> 00:12:39.279 through faith in who He is 00:12:39.279 --> 00:12:40.959 and what He's
