00:03:41.580 --> 00:03:42.620 resurrection of Jesus. 00:03:43.400 --> 00:03:45.560 So he's a pagan, not Jewish. 00:03:45.560 --> 00:03:52.500 I think he's the only pagan writer in the New Testament, beginning of the book is that he says that he's pursued 00:04:00.719 --> 00:04:07.800 eyewitnesses and eyewitness reports to write a true story of what went on with Jesus. 00:04:08.460 --> 00:04:11.259 And that's a very important thing to see that that's his claim. 00:04:11.259 --> 00:04:18.779 He doesn't say that this is a story, my story is inspired by true events or based on true 00:05:46.459 Hold it right there. 00:05:47.019 --> 00:05:49.000 I mean, those stories aren't true. 00:05:49.179 --> 00:05:53.919 Like they have angels in them and virgin birth and all that stuff, and 00:08:02.540 Lord is with you. 00:08:03.340 --> 00:08:08.699 But she was greatly troubled at the saying and tried to discern what sort of greeting this 00:08:08.699 --> 00:08:09.340 might be. 00:08:10.400 --> 00:08:17.379 And oh favored one, it's an idiomatic expression. 00:08:17.379 --> 00:08:22.439 I keep trying to come up with new ways of expressing something like this. 00:08:23.019 --> 00:08:30.540 But if somebody says to you that they have a screw loose, if you say about somebody that 00:08:30.540 --> 00:08:34.100 they have a screw loose, you don't literally believe that they have a screw, you know, 00:08:34.179 --> 00:08:37.799 a cap in their skull that's screwed in and one of them's loose. 00:08:37.840 --> 00:08:39.799 You're referring to somebody who's a bit crazy. 00:08:39.899 --> 00:08:41.500 That's an idiomatic expression. 00:08:42.039 --> 00:08:47.059 And there's a bit of an idiomatic or Semitic, Semitism here in what the angel says. 00:08:47.059 --> 00:08:52.559 When he says, oh favored one, what he's saying is, I'm speaking to you who are a recipient 00:08:52.559 --> 00:08:55.279 of God's grace. 00:08:55.779 --> 00:08:56.779 That's what it First of all, she's in Nazareth. 00:09:40.560 --> 00:09:45.300 And Nazareth is another way for saying, in the New Testament, we now think of Nazareth 00:09:45.300 --> 00:09:46.500 as being something important. 00:09:47.080 --> 00:09:50.500 But one of the ways, if you want to understand the New Testament, every time you see the word 00:09:50.500 --> 00:09:52.560 Nazareth, read nowhere. 00:09:53.740 --> 00:09:59.400 It would be as if you had a map and you looked at one empty spot and it looked at another empty 00:09:59.400 --> 00:09:59.860 spot. 00:09:59.860 --> 00:10:04.159 And then you wanted to go from one unimportant empty spot to another. 00:10:04.259 --> 00:10:05.800 In the middle of that would be Nazareth. 00:10:07.120 --> 00:10:08.820 Like it's nowhere, Bill. 00:10:08.899 something that causes you to shake, to almost feel like you're being unmade. 00:10:38.180 --> 00:10:44.419 So she neither understands why she, who is in nowhere, between nowhere and nowhere and 00:10:44.419 --> 00:10:51.080 nowhere, that she somehow is getting this vision from an angel which is just causing her literally 00:10:51.080 --> 00:10:53.960 to shake by being in the presence of something which is so holy. 00:10:54.740 --> 00:10:56.560 So she's terrified. 00:10:57.639 --> 00:10:59.799 So what happens next? 00:10:59.919 --> 00:11:01.680 Well, the angel has to speak to her. 00:14:02.340 --> 00:14:09.300 And so I'm saying this because, you see, when the angel says that the child to be born to 00:14:09.300 --> 00:14:14.120 you will be a son and it's named Jesus, the angel
