Now, some identify them with comic book characters or football players. 00:04:50.000 --> 00:04:53.019 But before we talk about their biblical identities, 00:04:53.959 --> 00:05:01.719 let me clarify that some look at these four horsemen along with other events in Revelation 00:05:01.720 --> 00:05:12.220 and see them fulfilled specifically in the first century with events surrounding the destruction of the Jerusalem temple. 00:05:12.220 --> 00:05:15.260 And then other Bible scholars say, 00:05:15.260 --> 00:05:15.960 No, no, no. 00:05:16.320 --> 00:05:24.560 These are all people and events that are future, that are yet to come still today. 00:05:26.260 --> 00:05:28.260 Those could be correct. 00:05:28.259 --> 00:05:38.079 But I think the best understanding of Revelation here is I called my son. 00:06:16.399 --> 00:06:24.399 Now, Hosea says that, which looking back clearly refers to the exodus of Israel. 00:06:24.399 --> 00:06:28.979 God's people, God's son from Egypt, right? 00:06:30.359 --> 00:06:43.419 Hundreds of years later, however, Matthew, looking forward, says Hosea's prophecy is also fulfilled in Jesus, God's son, 00:06:43.620 --> 00:06:50.620 who after fleeing to Egypt as a baby with his parents due to Herod's threats, remember, returns to Israel. 00:06:50.620 --> 00:06:56.100 Same prophecy, multiple layers of fulfillment. 00:06:57.100 --> 00:06:57.340 identify because some people believe the rider is Jesus himself. 00:07:33.579 --> 00:07:36.939 Others believe it's an Antichrist figure. 00:07:36.939 --> 00:07:42.699 So all over the map as people try to understand Revelation 6. 00:07:43.199 --> 00:07:47.199 And while Jesus does ride a white horse later in Revelation, 00:07:47.699 --> 00:07:50.480 I don't think that's the best understanding here.
