accusing God of abandonment? 00:08:43.679 --> 00:08:44.239 Or of abandonment? 00:08:45.239 --> 00:08:48.639 Or of ignoring him? 00:08:50.319 --> 00:08:52.059 And it kind of raises the question. 00:08:52.259 --> 00:08:55.259 Has God forsaken David in this moment? 00:08:56.620 --> 00:08:58.879 Has God not been answering David's prayers? 00:08:59.679 --> 00:09:02.500 And it kind of depends on your view of the Psalms. 00:09:02.659 --> 00:09:07.399 And how this is both the word of man and the word of God at the same time. 00:09:08.000 --> 00:09:09.919 We might come to some different conclusions. 00:09:09.919 --> 00:09:12.479 Some will say that for these words to be true. 00:09:12.480 --> 00:09:16.700 God really has forsaken David in this moment. 00:09:16.820 --> 00:09:18.180 thoughts that David really has in his heart. 00:09:37.559 --> 00:09:43.519 They accurately describe the feelings that he has right now. 00:09:44.019 --> 00:09:46.399 And I think that's the right way to read this. 00:09:47.399 --> 00:09:49.919 There are a lot of things said in the Psalms 00:09:49.919 --> 00:09:53.000 that seem to convey the feeling truth, 00:09:53.500 --> 00:09:55.519 the inward thoughts of the individual, 00:09:55.899 --> 00:09:59.819 rather than the fact truth of the circumstance 00:09:59.819 --> 00:10:01.599 that that individual is in, 00:10:01.659 --> 00:10:04.000 or what's going on between him and God. 00:10:04.000 --> 00:10:07.340 And this seems to be the conclusion that David comes to 00:10:07.340 --> 00:10:08.740 in the second part of the Psalm. 00:10:09.500 --> 00:10:11.620 Just look with me quickly to verse 24. 00:10:12.740 --> 00:10:16.159 Here at verse 24, David is praising God. 00:10:16.279 --> 00:10:18.940 He's worshiping God, celebrating him. 00:10:20.240 --> 00:10:22.240 And then he starts calling on all the people of Israel 00:10:22.240 --> 00:10:23.899 to join him in praise. 00:10:24.340 --> 00:10:24.879 And why? 00:10:25.440 --> 00:10:27.039 David answers in verse 24. 00:10:27.259 --> 00:10:27.659 He says, 00:10:27.659 --> 00:10:40.899 It's as though David is saying, 00:10:41.039 --> 00:10:43.039 how I felt earlier before, 00:10:44.639 --> 00:10:46.759 before the answer to my prayers came, 00:10:47.120 --> 00:10:48.579 it wasn't the reality. 00:10:49.240 --> 00:10:51.199 You hadn't hidden your face from me. 00:10:51.259 --> 00:10:53.500 All along, you were watching me. 00:10:54.199 --> 00:10:55.620 You were listening to my prayers. 00:10:55.620 --> 00:10:57.919 You were seeing me, hearing me. 00:11:00.000 -->
