many of you have parents that are still alive? 00:04:59.980 --> 00:05:02.980 Let me see your hands. 00:05:02.980 --> 00:05:07.980 Good. 00:05:07.980 --> 00:05:14.980 Basically, the lesson tonight is to boys and girls. 00:05:14.980 --> 00:05:21.980 But in essence, it engulfs all believers. 00:05:21.980 --> 00:05:30.980 We are studying very slowly what the Apostle Paul tells us in Ephesians chapter 5. 00:05:30.980 --> 00:05:37.980 Walk circumspectly. 00:05:37.980 --> 00:05:43.980 In essence, it could be translated, walk accurately. 00:05:43.980 --> 00:05:52.980 Having said that, and commanded it by the Holy Spirit to the Ephesian Christians, 00:05:52.980 --> 00:05:58.980 He tells us what an accurate walk consists of. 00:05:58.980 --> 00:06:07.980 First of all, it consists of acting like a wise person and not a foolish person. 00:06:07.980 --> 00:06:15.980 Secondly, it demands redeeming the time or the opportunity for which you may never have another chance. 00:06:15.980 --> 00:06:16.980 Second of all, it is a wise person. 00:06:16.980 --> 00:06:28.980 Thirdly, the accurate walk of a believer demands that he understands what the will of the Lord is. 00:06:28.980 --> 00:06:33.980 Now, do not take it out of context. 00:06:33.980 --> 00:06:37.980 He is not talking about the will of the Lord for your job. 00:06:37.980 --> 00:06:44.980 He is not talking about the will of the Lord for position or for service or for calling. 00:06:44.980 --> 00:06:50.980 He is talking about what is the will of the Lord for the everyday Christian. 00:06:50.980 --> 00:06:57.980 And there is only one will demanded of every Christian. 00:06:57.980 --> 00:07:05.980 Be not drunk with wine wherein is excess, but be filled with the Spirit. 00:07:05.980 --> 00:07:14.980 The will of the Lord for every Christian who wants to walk accurately is to be filled with the Holy Spirit. 00:07:14.980 --> 00:07:21.980 My personal conviction, you do not need to disagree with me, you agree with me, 00:07:21.980 --> 00:07:31.980 is that Satan today is trying to get the believer's attention away from the biblical teaching of the results of the filling of the Holy Spirit. 00:07:31.980 --> 00:07:42.980 I would remind you that Ephesians 5 is the only place in your New Testament that commands a believer to be filled with the Holy Spirit. 00:07:42.980 --> 00:07:50.980 Now, having told us what filling of the Holy Spirit is demanded, he tells us what the results are in our lives. 00:07:50.980 --> 00:07:53.980 Number one, we will be happy Christians. 00:07:53.980 --> 00:07:57.980 Number two, we will be helpful Christians. 00:07:57.980 --> 00:07:59.980 Number three, we will be thankful Christians. 00:07:59.980 --> 00:08:06.980 And number four, the most important, is in verse 21, we will be submissive Christians. 00:08:06.980 --> 00:08:11.980 Submitting ourselves one to another in the fear of the Lord. 00:08:11.980 --> 00:08:14.980 Now, I've taken five weeks to come from that verse. 00:08:14.980 --> 00:08:28.980 From that verse on, he breaks down to chapter 6, verse 10, every category of Christian apart from one. 00:08:28.980 --> 00:08:32.980 And that happens to be mothers. 00:08:32.980 --> 00:08:42.980 Mothers are not mentioned in the resultant submission to the filling of the Holy Spirit. 00:08:42.980 --> 00:08:43.980 He begins with wives. 00:08:43.980 --> 00:08:51.980 No believing wife can be filled with the Holy Spirit who's not submissive to her husband. 00:08:51.980 --> 00:09:00.980 And contrary, a submissive wife to a believing husband will be filled with the Holy Spirit. 00:09:00.980 --> 00:09:04.980 Now, you can see how you can walk in and out of the filling of the Holy Spirit. 00:09:04.980 --> 00:09:10.980 You can see why it's not a once-for-all situation, can't you? 00:09:10.980 --> 00:09:14.980 Because it depends upon you. 00:09:14.980 --> 00:09:21.980 No believing husband can be filled with the Holy Spirit who does not love his wife. 00:09:21.980 --> 00:09:28.980 And no believing husband who loves his wife will not be filled with the Holy Spirit. 00:09:28.980 --> 00:09:34.980 But from now on, I'm concerned. 00:09:34.980 --> 00:09:37.980 It says, walk accurately. 00:09:37.980 --> 00:09:48.980 Not as the unwise, redeeming the time, understanding what the will of the Lord is, be filled with the Spirit. 00:09:48.980 --> 00:09:51.980 I come back to my original lesson for a moment. 00:09:51.980 --> 00:09:56.980 It does not just say men are to be filled with the Holy Spirit. 00:09:56.980 --> 00:10:04.980 It does not say just believing wives are to be filled with the Holy Spirit. 00:10:04.980 --> 00:10:07.980 The command is to everybody. 00:10:07.980 --> 00:10:11.980 Now, I challenge you tonight to think, class. 00:10:11.980 --> 00:10:20.980 When is the last time you heard a lesson given to boys and girls and to children that they are to be filled with the Holy Spirit? 00:10:20.980 --> 00:10:29.980 I would remind you we segregate things. 00:10:29.980 --> 00:10:30.980 We segregate submission. 00:10:30.980 --> 00:10:35.980 For the moment I segregate it by saying I'm talking about believing wives. 00:10:35.980 --> 00:10:41.980 And I'd remind you over and over in this paragraph, which is the result of the filling of the Holy Spirit, 00:10:41.980 --> 00:10:44.980 we are reminded as Christ is the example. 00:10:44.980 --> 00:10:47.980 That's what you have to keep before you. 00:10:47.980 --> 00:10:50.980 Now, you come to chapter 6, verse 1. 00:10:50.980 --> 00:10:53.980 It's too bad the chapter is there. 00:10:53.980 --> 00:10:55.980 It should not be the sixth chapter. 00:10:55.980 --> 00:10:59.980 My personal conviction is chapter 6 should begin with verse 10. 00:10:59.980 --> 00:11:00.980 Finally, brethren. 00:11:02.980 --> 00:11:08.980 I think what we find at the beginning of chapter 6 is a continuation of the Spirit-filled life. 00:11:10.980 --> 00:11:16.980 Now, I might say to you, I think sometimes we have to stop and rethink our position. 00:11:17.980 --> 00:11:22.980 No one is not saying that boys and girls can't be saved. 00:11:22.980 --> 00:11:24.980 Now, don't ever go away and say, I said that. 00:11:24.980 --> 00:11:31.980 But I do not believe that little boys and girls should be pressured into being saved. 00:11:31.980 --> 00:11:36.980 I don't think little boys and girls should be scared into being saved. 00:11:36.980 --> 00:11:53.980 If they are taught the word of God and they come from a Christian home and you lovingly bring them to the place when the Lord expects them to totally understand without any pressure, they will accept Christ. 00:11:53.980 --> 00:12:01.980 How many of you sitting here have said to me, Pastor, the time I thought I was saved, I wasn't saved. 00:12:01.980 --> 00:12:02.980 I didn't understand. 00:12:02.980 --> 00:12:08.980 Now, that doesn't mean a little boy or a girl can't be saved. 00:12:08.980 --> 00:12:09.980 I didn't say that. 00:12:09.980 --> 00:12:25.980 But it almost ought to come with him begging us to be saved, not with us begging him to be saved, to please mother or dad or a teacher or because he's been scared by some means, even from the word of God, of coming to Christ. 00:12:25.980 --> 00:12:30.980 I think we ought to be very careful with boys and girls. 00:12:30.980 --> 00:12:40.980 I would remind you, boys and girls tonight, if you claim to be saved, you are to walk the way the word of God says to walk and begin with in chapter six, verse one. 00:12:40.980 --> 00:12:41.980 You got your Bible open. 00:12:41.980 --> 00:12:44.980 It says children obey your parents. 00:12:44.980 --> 00:12:54.980 No Christian boy or girl, how young he may be, can be filled with the Holy Spirit who does not obey. 00:12:54.980 --> 00:12:56.980 His parents. 00:12:56.980 --> 00:13:03.980 And a boy or girl who obeys his parents is filled with the Holy Spirit. 00:13:03.980 --> 00:13:06.980 Now, how simple can we get? 00:13:06.980 --> 00:13:11.980 Do you teach your children this? 00:13:11.980 --> 00:13:23.980 We get little boys and girls and older boys and girls and even teenagers saved and we may teach them baptism, but we have to be very careful that we don't force that on them, that it comes by their own conviction again. 00:13:23.980 --> 00:13:32.980 But do we ever show them that their walk is to be governed by the word of God and the Holy Spirit? 00:13:32.980 --> 00:13:34.980 I might say something to you honestly tonight. 00:13:34.980 --> 00:13:39.980 I have a little trouble trying to teach the filling of the Holy Spirit to a five year old. 00:13:39.980 --> 00:13:44.980 And yet it's in the word of God, isn't it? 00:13:44.980 --> 00:13:51.980 I have a little trouble teaching a little five year old that he receives the Holy Spirit. 00:13:51.980 --> 00:13:57.980 You'll realize that the traditional vernacular of teaching boys and girls is totally wrong. 00:13:57.980 --> 00:13:59.980 It makes him a schizophrenic personality. 00:13:59.980 --> 00:14:08.980 We teach little boys and girls to let Jesus come into his heart. 00:14:08.980 --> 00:14:10.980 That is a misnomer. 00:14:10.980 --> 00:14:15.980 Because a little child's heart is here and he thinks that's where the Lord Jesus comes. 00:14:15.980 --> 00:14:17.980 That is not what the Bible teaches. 00:14:17.980 --> 00:14:24.980 Now you're saying, Pastor, you're sounding like a liberal. 00:14:24.980 --> 00:14:26.980 No, I'm not sounding like a liberal. 00:14:26.980 --> 00:14:35.980 I am saying to you that we always put the teaching of the Holy Spirit and the walk of the believer on the shoulders of the adult. 00:14:35.980 --> 00:14:39.980 But Paul did not do that in this passage. 00:14:39.980 --> 00:14:46.980 After he finishes with the believing wife, he doesn't even talk about the believing mother. 00:14:46.980 --> 00:14:52.980 Because if she's a believing wife, she'll be a believing mother. 00:14:52.980 --> 00:14:57.980 And if you get a home where a believing wife will not submit to a husband and for a moment a believing husband, 00:14:57.980 --> 00:15:00.980 although I don't believe that that statement, 00:15:00.980 --> 00:15:04.980 you will have no problem with your children. 00:15:04.980 --> 00:15:08.980 And that's exactly what Paul is trying to teach us. 00:15:08.980 --> 00:15:14.980 Submission is taught in the Word of God because God is a God of order. 00:15:14.980 --> 00:15:20.980 If you've been in my class on Sunday morning, you know that's what I've been teaching over and over and over again. 00:15:20.980 --> 00:15:23.980 God is not a God of disorder. 00:15:23.980 --> 00:15:25.980 Let's look at it tonight for a second. 00:15:25.980 --> 00:15:28.980 It's a very, very touchy subject. 00:15:28.980 --> 00:15:38.980 Are you aware that the Apostle Paul added to the commandments? 00:15:38.980 --> 00:15:41.980 Or aren't you aware of that? 00:15:41.980 --> 00:15:44.980 I would also make you aware tonight of something, parents. 00:15:44.980 --> 00:15:53.980 That you must demand obedience from your boys and girls at home. 00:15:53.980 --> 00:15:56.980 It is a God-given responsibility. 00:15:56.980 --> 00:15:59.980 And we as parents, as Christians, should say to our children, 00:15:59.980 --> 00:16:05.980 you must obey because that's my responsibility before God for you to accomplish. 00:16:05.980 --> 00:16:11.980 And boys and girls and young people must say I obey because that's what God commands me to do. 00:16:11.980 --> 00:16:15.980 And we don't talk that way anymore. 00:16:15.980 --> 00:16:20.980 I have a little book stuck in my desk where nobody knows where it is. 00:16:20.980 --> 00:16:24.980 It's called The Little Red Schoolhouse. 00:16:24.980 --> 00:16:30.980 It happens to be a book that was written by a Norwegian and passed around in the Scandinavian schools. 00:16:30.980 --> 00:16:36.980 That is given to junior hires to show them how to disobey authority. 00:16:36.980 --> 00:16:43.980 And it is sold in schools in the United States of America. 00:16:43.980 --> 00:16:53.980 You have no reason to be amazed at the lack of authority taken by children because of the fact God has set an order. 00:16:53.980 --> 00:17:00.980 When we learn to obey God, then we learn to obey our parents, then we also learn to obey the authorities over us. 00:17:00.980 --> 00:17:04.980 And the moment you take that away, you destroy God's order. 00:17:04.980 --> 00:17:09.980 Read, parents and young people. 00:17:09.980 --> 00:17:12.980 All you have to do is read. 00:17:12.980 --> 00:17:15.980 You can read of the young people that get into trouble. 00:17:15.980 --> 00:17:22.980 You can go into the stir of the beginning of the 70s or the late 60s and read what those young people said, 00:17:22.980 --> 00:17:24.980 why they acted the way they did. 00:17:24.980 --> 00:17:30.980 And you'll find out that the parent gave them everything and didn't do anything when it came to obedience and authority over them. 00:17:30.980 --> 00:17:34.980 Every one of them says it from top to bottom without any difference in their language. 00:17:34.980 --> 00:17:44.980 And you realize, as my kids realize, that the moment I make them obey, they holler like stuck pigs. 00:17:44.980 --> 00:17:47.980 And parents are softies. 00:17:47.980 --> 00:17:50.980 Oh, I hate to see that kid unhappy. 00:17:50.980 --> 00:17:52.980 And so parent gives in. 00:17:52.980 --> 00:17:56.980 And so when the teacher puts the arm down, the kid cries. 00:17:56.980 --> 00:18:00.980 And the teacher doesn't dare to give in because she's got 29 other kids there. 00:18:00.980 --> 00:18:04.980 And so the teacher finds disobedience right down the line. 00:18:04.980 --> 00:18:07.980 And the kid becomes obnoxious because of the home. 00:18:07.980 --> 00:18:13.980 We live in an age of minority. 00:18:13.980 --> 00:18:16.980 The minorities are not the black people. 00:18:16.980 --> 00:18:22.980 The minorities are the Bible-believing Christians who want to live by the word of God. 00:18:22.980 --> 00:18:28.980 They are the minority even from the Christians who are saved but don't want to live by the word of God. 00:18:28.980 --> 00:18:31.980 Let's look at it. 00:18:31.980 --> 00:18:33.980 I don't know how far we can get tonight. 00:18:33.980 --> 00:18:36.980 It's a very serious subject. 00:18:36.980 --> 00:18:41.980 I think boys and girls ought to be told they have to obey. 00:18:41.980 --> 00:18:43.980 If they put up any guff, I think they ought to be told, 00:18:43.980 --> 00:18:48.980 You must obey because God demands that I make you obey. 00:18:48.980 --> 00:18:53.980 Now that doesn't mean fathers won't be wrong occasionally. 00:18:53.980 --> 00:18:55.980 But I want to tell you something. 00:18:55.980 --> 00:19:02.980 A believing father will be right more than he's wrong if he's filled with the Holy Spirit. 00:19:02.980 --> 00:19:06.980 Did you notice that in Ephesians 6, 1 and 2, 00:19:06.980 --> 00:19:13.980 which are the results of spirit-filled boys and girls and young people who are walking accurately 00:19:13.980 --> 00:19:19.980 because they understand that the will of God for them is two commands, not one. 00:19:19.980 --> 00:19:22.980 The first command is very interesting. 00:19:22.980 --> 00:19:25.980 It is not found in the Old Testament. 00:19:25.980 --> 00:19:27.980 The first command says children. 00:19:27.980 --> 00:19:29.980 And for the moment I talk to believing children. 00:19:29.980 --> 00:19:32.980 I'm not going to talk to unbelieving kids. 00:19:32.980 --> 00:19:37.980 It would seem that the word children means those that are in the home. 00:19:37.980 --> 00:19:40.980 That seems to be what it's saying. 00:19:40.980 --> 00:19:47.980 Now when the child goes out of the home on his own, he probably reverts to verse 2. 00:19:47.980 --> 00:19:50.980 For that is the Old Testament verse. 00:19:50.980 --> 00:19:51.980 Honor. 00:19:51.980 --> 00:19:56.980 But kindly notice something, and I have never thought of this. 00:19:56.980 --> 00:19:59.980 Someone has said, 00:19:59.980 --> 00:20:06.980 You are not able to honor until you first know how to obey. 00:20:06.980 --> 00:20:10.980 Not vice versa. 00:20:10.980 --> 00:20:15.980 There is a diverse teaching that if you can get boys and girls to respect somebody, 00:20:15.980 --> 00:20:17.980 they will obey something. 00:20:17.980 --> 00:20:20.980 Biblically, that is not true. 00:20:20.980 --> 00:20:24.980 Obedience comes before honoring. 00:20:24.980 --> 00:20:26.980 Now, honoring is a very interesting word. 00:20:26.980 --> 00:20:28.980 Whether we get that far tonight or not is not important. 00:20:28.980 --> 00:20:32.980 But honor is the word reverence. 00:20:32.980 --> 00:20:35.980 Honor is the word respect. 00:20:35.980 --> 00:20:38.980 Honor is a word which means piety. 00:20:38.980 --> 00:20:40.980 It has a Christian atmosphere to it. 00:20:41.980 --> 00:20:43.980 Honor is the word to submit. 00:20:43.980 --> 00:20:45.980 Now, submission is not necessary. 00:20:45.980 --> 00:20:46.980 Totally obedience. 00:20:46.980 --> 00:20:49.980 Because when you become an adult and still have parents, 00:20:49.980 --> 00:20:52.980 you are responsible to God as an adult, not as a parent or to the parent. 00:20:54.980 --> 00:20:56.980 So very simply, we can say tonight, 00:20:56.980 --> 00:21:00.980 boys and girls who claim the Lord Jesus Christ as their Savior, 00:21:00.980 --> 00:21:02.980 no matter how young or what age, 00:21:02.980 --> 00:21:04.980 who live at home, 00:21:04.980 --> 00:21:08.980 if they are to manifest the result of the filling of the Holy Spirit, 00:21:08.980 --> 00:21:10.980 must obey their parents. 00:21:10.980 --> 00:21:14.980 And if you do not obey your parents, 00:21:14.980 --> 00:21:17.980 you are not filled with the Holy Spirit. 00:21:17.980 --> 00:21:21.980 Now, go a little further with me. 00:21:21.980 --> 00:21:25.980 The word obey is a very interesting word in the original language. 00:21:27.980 --> 00:21:32.980 It really could be translated in its loose form, three things. 00:21:32.980 --> 00:21:37.980 And it works beautifully because the original language always gives the total intent. 00:21:37.980 --> 00:21:40.980 It could be translated, 00:21:40.980 --> 00:21:44.980 children, listen to your parents. 00:21:44.980 --> 00:21:50.980 Would you kindly notice that by the Holy Spirit, 00:21:50.980 --> 00:21:54.980 Paul does not use the singular word parent. 00:21:54.980 --> 00:21:58.980 He has added an S to it. 00:21:58.980 --> 00:22:06.980 It is not a child is just to listen to his father. 00:22:06.980 --> 00:22:10.980 He is to listen to his father and his mother. 00:22:10.980 --> 00:22:20.980 And the writer of Proverbs does a beautiful example of this in chapter one, chapter two, chapter four, chapter five, chapter six. 00:22:20.980 --> 00:22:30.980 Because the writer of Proverbs always refers to the law of the mother. 00:22:30.980 --> 00:22:38.980 So Paul is saying that boys and girls who live at home. 00:22:38.980 --> 00:22:42.980 Now that's interesting because he didn't put any age on it. 00:22:42.980 --> 00:22:44.980 Some of you are 18 and still living at home. 00:22:44.980 --> 00:22:46.980 It applies to you. 00:22:47.980 --> 00:22:51.980 If you are 20 and still living at home, it applies to you. 00:22:53.980 --> 00:22:55.980 Now that's very interesting. 00:22:55.980 --> 00:22:59.980 Spirit filled young people are to live at home. 00:22:59.980 --> 00:23:01.980 People are to listen to their parents. 00:23:01.980 --> 00:23:05.980 Now the second part of the translation, which might put in here. 00:23:05.980 --> 00:23:08.980 You know, lots of kids listen, but they don't hear. 00:23:10.980 --> 00:23:13.980 And the Greek language does this for us. 00:23:14.980 --> 00:23:20.980 Spirit filled children are to listen and hear their parents. 00:23:20.980 --> 00:23:23.980 And then, of course, you have the word you have here. 00:23:23.980 --> 00:23:25.980 So you put them together and this is what you have. 00:23:25.980 --> 00:23:32.980 A spirit filled child living at home, listen, hears and obeys his parents. 00:23:32.980 --> 00:23:34.980 Isn't that nice? 00:23:34.980 --> 00:23:39.980 And that's exactly the way God meant it to be. 00:23:40.980 --> 00:23:46.980 God never says to us, you do this without telling us why. 00:23:46.980 --> 00:23:52.980 He didn't say to us, be filled with the Holy Spirit and just drop it, right? 00:23:53.980 --> 00:23:56.980 Always refer back to your own commentary. 00:23:57.980 --> 00:24:01.980 When Paul said, walk accurately, understand what the will of the Lord is. 00:24:01.980 --> 00:24:04.980 I think that's the greatest phrase I've ever run across in a life. 00:24:07.980 --> 00:24:10.980 When a believing wife comes to me and chats with me and says, 00:24:10.980 --> 00:24:11.980 Pastor, I don't know what the will of the Lord is. 00:24:11.980 --> 00:24:13.980 I know what the will of the Lord is for a believing wife. 00:24:13.980 --> 00:24:14.980 Submit to your husband. 00:24:15.980 --> 00:24:16.980 I don't have any problem with that. 00:24:21.980 --> 00:24:22.980 Now it's interesting. 00:24:22.980 --> 00:24:32.980 What happens in the Old Testament when young people would not obey their parents? 00:24:33.980 --> 00:24:34.980 Does anybody know? 00:24:35.980 --> 00:24:36.980 Allah. 00:24:37.980 --> 00:24:39.980 They were killed, right? 00:24:41.980 --> 00:24:42.980 They were killed. 00:24:42.980 --> 00:24:43.980 Do you realize? 00:24:43.980 --> 00:24:52.980 That's why in the law it does not say in the fifth commandment, obey your parents. 00:24:53.980 --> 00:24:58.980 It says honor your mother and your father. 00:24:59.980 --> 00:25:00.980 Why? 00:25:01.980 --> 00:25:08.980 interesting in the Hebrew language. 00:25:26.980 --> 00:25:30.980 A child that disobeys his parents in the Hebrew language is cursing his parents. 00:25:34.980 --> 00:25:35.980 That's interesting. 00:25:35.980 --> 00:25:39.980 And if you translate that over into this little passage, you come to a very interesting thing. 00:25:41.980 --> 00:25:46.980 A believing child who will not listen to his parent would be the same as the Old Testament who is disobeying, 00:25:47.980 --> 00:25:48.980 and he would be cursed. 00:25:51.980 --> 00:25:54.980 No Jewish boy or girl would ever say to his father, 00:34:09.980 That is because they're concerned about their Christian testimony. 00:34:09.980 --> 00:34:16.980 Now in writing the commandments as Moses got them from the Lord, 00:34:16.980 --> 00:34:18.980 you come to the fifth command, which is verse 12. 00:34:18.980 --> 00:34:22.980 Honor thy father and thy mother. 00:34:22.980 --> 00:34:24.980 It doesn't say obedience. 00:34:24.980 --> 00:34:27.980 Because within the character of the law 00:34:28.980 --> 00:34:31.980 is the result of disobedience to parents. 00:34:31.980 --> 00:34:34.980 I will pick that up next week and show you word really means load with honor. 00:35:16.980 --> 00:35:17.980 Isn't that interesting? 00:35:17.980 --> 00:35:22.980 And in the Greek language, when Paul picks up the second result, 00:35:22.980 --> 00:35:26.980 the boys and girls who are going to walk according to the Holy Spirit 00:35:26.980 --> 00:35:28.980 who have been given when they were saved, 00:35:30.980 --> 00:35:34.980 the second result of that submission is not only obedience, 00:35:34.980 --> 00:35:37.980 but loading that parent with honor. 00:35:40.980 --> 00:35:44.980 My wife got a call today from a dear old saint whom you know, 00:35:44.980 --> 00:35:46.980 and I heard her when she finished the telephone, 00:35:46.980 --> 00:35:47.980 she said, 00:35:47.980 --> 00:35:48.980 I really feel badly. 00:35:48.980 --> 00:35:51.980 I should have gone over there and chatted with her months ago. 00:35:54.980 --> 00:35:56.980 She has a family who never comes to see her. 00:35:57.980 --> 00:35:58.980 How old is she? 00:35:58.980 --> 00:35:59.980 Ninety? 00:36:00.980 --> 00:36:01.980 Almost. 00:36:01.980 --> 00:36:02.980 Ninety. 00:36:03.980 --> 00:36:04.980 Lives by herself. 00:36:05.980 --> 00:36:06.980 A great realize if you're reading the commandments, 00:36:43.980 --> 00:36:46.980 that you're transisting from God to life, 00:36:47.980 --> 00:36:49.980 and in the middle is the home. 00:36:51.980 --> 00:36:53.980 How do you teach boys and girls not to lie? 00:36:57.980 --> 00:36:59.980 You never will if they won't honor you. 00:36:59.980 --> 00:37:02.980 How do you teach them not to steal? 00:37:44.980 --> 00:37:45.980 Now let's be honest. 00:37:45.980 --> 00:37:52.980 Saints who grow old by age and do not mature spiritually 00:37:53.980 --> 00:37:55.980 are kind of hard to get along with. 00:37:58.980 --> 00:38:01.980 That's why you should learn as much about the word of God 00:38:02.980 --> 00:38:04.980 when you're young and middle-aged as you can, 00:38:05.980 --> 00:38:07.980 because someday we're all going to get old and senile 00:38:08.980 --> 00:38:10.980 and you'll only be sweet Christians that are lovable 00:38:10.980 --> 00:38:11.980 if you've matured in Christ. 00:38:11.980 --> 00:38:15.980 And I know what I'm talking about. 00:38:18.980 --> 00:38:20.980 There has to be an affection. 00:38:23.980 --> 00:38:24.980 Now someone says, 00:38:24.980 --> 00:38:26.980 well, pastor, my parents don't demand affection 00:38:27.980 --> 00:38:28.980 or they don't deserve affection. 00:38:28.980 --> 00:38:29.980 Hey, wait a minute. 00:38:29.980 --> 00:38:30.980 You're a Christian? 00:38:32.980 --> 00:38:34.980 Then in order to be filled with the Holy Spirit. 00:38:35.980 --> 00:38:38.980 Look, my wife and I have aged parents. 00:38:38.980 --> 00:38:39.980 They're both alive yet. 00:38:39.980 --> 00:38:40.980 How much longer? 00:38:40.980 --> 00:38:41.980 We don't know. 00:38:42.980 --> 00:38:44.980 They really are difficult to get along with. 00:38:45.980 --> 00:38:47.980 Occasionally you'd like to blow your top. 00:38:49.980 --> 00:38:50.980 But you don't. 00:38:52.980 --> 00:38:54.980 Because you honor them. 00:38:55.980 --> 00:39:23.980 If your parents weren't your parents, you wouldn't be. 00:39:23.980 --> 00:39:25.980 Unless you can find another parent. 00:39:25.980 --> 00:39:27.980 I don't know how you knew that. 00:39:29.980 --> 00:39:31.980 You see, God is very logical. 00:39:31.980 --> 00:39:32.980 And we must stop. 00:39:33.980 --> 00:39:38.980 He is going from our attitude and our actions towards God to And I firmly believe that where most men get out of the realm of the Spirit's filling is being a father. 00:40:05.980 --> 00:40:10.980 Because it's contrary to our nature to be spirit-filled fathers.
