00:01:04.259 --> 00:01:05.099 You must be what? 00:01:05.679 --> 00:01:06.599 Born again. 00:01:07.439 --> 00:01:12.859 You know, that was a gospel interaction between Jesus and Nicodemus. 00:01:12.859 --> 00:01:19.379 Nicodemus came and asked questions and Jesus gave him answers. 00:01:20.560 --> 00:01:24.060 You know, that's one kind of interaction that you'll have. 00:01:24.120 --> 00:01:25.739 Sometimes people come with questions. 00:01:26.200 --> 00:01:30.840 But I want you to look over into John chapter 4 because here in John 4 we have something different. 00:01:31.420 --> 00:01:35.719 And actually you might say the total opposite of Nicodemus in chapter 3. 00:01:35.719 --> 00:01:43.579 Because in John chapter 4 you have another famous interaction and it's Jesus with the woman of Samaria. 00:01:45.019 --> 00:01:49.260 Now, the difference between these two, one came looking for Jesus. 00:01:50.140 --> 00:01:52.939 The other had no idea who Jesus was. 00:01:53.299 --> 00:01:58.640 As a matter of fact, we're going to look at a little bit of this this morning because now once we find here, 00:01:58.640 --> 00:02:04.879 notice in chapter 4, he says this in verse 4. 00:02:05.780 --> 00:02:06.359 It says, 00:02:06.439 --> 00:02:09.199 He must needs go through Samaria. 00:02:09.699 --> 00:02:13.099 And they cometh he to a city of Samaria, which is called Sakaar, 00:02:13.560 --> 00:02:16.800 near to the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph. 00:02:16.920 --> 00:02:19.439 Now Jacob's well was there. 00:02:19.560 --> 00:02:21.759 Jesus, therefore, being wearied at his journey, 00:02:22.280 --> 00:02:24.979 sat thus on the well, and it was about the sixth hour. 00:02:24.979 --> 00:02:29.299 And there cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water, 00:02:29.419 --> 00:02:30.979 and Jesus saith unto her, 00:02:31.500 --> 00:02:33.419 Give me to drink. 00:02:33.579 --> 00:02:35.639 Now I want you to see one very important thing here. 00:02:35.699 --> 00:02:38.379 When Jesus went to share the gospel here, 00:02:38.959 --> 00:02:40.439 the first thing you need to have, 00:02:40.500 --> 00:02:42.319 sometimes people aren't going to come to you, 00:02:42.379 --> 00:02:43.359 you need to have intention. 00:02:44.579 --> 00:02:45.519 Jesus knows here, 00:02:45.599 --> 00:02:47.199 I must needs go through Samaria. 00:02:48.039 --> 00:02:50.339 In other words, Jesus went with intention. 00:02:51.199 --> 00:02:52.859 And sometimes to share the gospel, 00:02:52.859 --> 00:02:54.179 you have to have intention. 00:02:54.979 --> 00:02:58.840 You have to be intending and looking for opportunity. 00:03:00.079 --> 00:03:02.739 You know, that's one of the keys you'll find in Jesus 00:03:02.739 --> 00:03:04.299 as we look at this interaction. 00:03:04.780 --> 00:03:06.659 It involves intention. 00:03:08.459 --> 00:03:08.899 Intentionality. 00:03:09.019 --> 00:03:10.519 I must needs go through Samaria. 00:03:10.620 --> 00:03:11.939 Why did Jesus want to go through there? 00:07:10.020 --> 00:07:10.860 He was strolling down, 00:07:10.939 --> 00:07:11.080 says, 00:07:11.160 --> 00:07:11.620 Zacchaeus, 00:07:11.620 --> 00:07:12.800 what are you doing up in the tree? 00:07:14.920 --> 00:07:16.980 Jesus initiated contact 00:07:16.980 --> 00:07:20.379 and then went to Zacchaeus' house 00:07:20.379 --> 00:07:23.060 and shared the gospel with him. 00:07:23.519 --> 00:07:24.480 Zacchaeus was a sinner. 00:07:24.540 --> 00:07:25.699 He was a tax collector. 00:07:26.600 --> 00:07:28.000 If you read that passage, 00:07:28.139 --> 00:07:30.100 Zacchaeus wasn't popular in the community. 00:07:30.459 --> 00:07:31.800 He'd ripped a lot of people off. 00:07:33.280 --> 00:07:34.340 He was a shyster. 00:07:35.079 --> 00:07:36.959 And here Jesus is going to his house. 00:07:36.959 --> 00:07:37.959 Why? 00:07:39.159 --> 00:07:40.239 Not to be a shyster. 00:07:42.139 --> 00:07:43.819 But there had to be that contact. 00:07:44.339 --> 00:07:48.099 Jesus interacts here with the lady here, 00:07:48.180 --> 00:07:50.060 but it was a daily course of events. 00:07:50.479 --> 00:07:52.219 He spoke to her at the public well. 00:07:52.299 --> 00:07:52.759 In other words, 00:07:53.120 --> 00:07:56.599 we understand this woman was an adulterous woman. 00:07:56.959 --> 00:07:59.019 She was living with a guy who was not her husband. 00:07:59.299 --> 00:08:01.759 But yet Jesus didn't focus upon that. 00:08:02.819 --> 00:08:05.539 He met her in a public place with a conversation. 00:08:05.540 --> 00:08:07.520 Because I want you to say 00:08:07.520 --> 00:08:10.020 it's important to understand something as a believer. 00:08:10.980 --> 00:08:13.439 And as I was thinking through here recently, 00:08:13.439 --> 00:08:14.879 I came across a statement 00:08:14.879 --> 00:08:16.660 that I thought was a pretty good application. 00:08:17.480 --> 00:08:18.460 As believers, 00:08:18.700 --> 00:08:20.740 we need to be insulated from the world, 00:08:20.840 --> 00:08:21.620 but not isolated. 00:08:22.000 --> 00:08:23.620 I thought that was a pretty good description. 00:08:23.900 --> 00:08:26.540 Our lives need to be insulated from the world, 00:08:26.700 --> 00:08:28.680 but not isolated of the world. 00:08:29.700 --> 00:08:31.800 Now, let's look at Jesus' principle. 00:08:31.960 --> 00:08:33.039 Turn to John 17. 00:08:33.039 --> 00:08:35.899 John 17 and verse 15. 00:08:37.839 --> 00:08:39.719 The Bible tells us this, 00:08:39.939 --> 00:08:43.500 and Jesus says this as he's praying for you and I. 00:08:43.860 --> 00:08:45.639 He's praying for believers here. 00:08:46.000 --> 00:08:46.879 And you know what he says?
