00:00:26.800 --> 00:00:35.000 So it tells us that Jeremiah is the one who wrote this book, and that he had a priestly ancestry, and that he's from Anathoth in the land of Benjamin. 00:00:35.480 --> 00:00:45.799 It's possible that Jeremiah is descended from Abiathar, who was David's priest but was deposed by Solomon, his successor, and replaced with Zadok the priest. 00:00:46.260 --> 00:00:52.579 And then, because Abiathar then went back to his hometown of Anathoth in 1 Kings 2, 26 to 27. 00:00:52.579 --> 00:00:59.519 So if that's the case, then Jeremiah actually descended from the priesthood tumultuous times that Jeremiah ministered. 00:04:30.699 --> 00:04:38.860 And it was a time when the Assyrian Empire was declining and the Babylonian Empire was rising in the north of Judah and in Israel. 00:04:39.180 --> 00:04:42.819 And during that time, Judah was repeatedly subjected to other nations. 00:04:43.219 --> 00:04:49.240 And Jeremiah was charged with bringing the message of God's 00:05:17.799 --> 00:05:24.219 having determined allotted periods and the boundaries of their dwelling place, 00:05:24.219 --> 00:05:28.679 that they should seek God and perhaps feel their way toward Him 00:05:28.680 --> 00:05:30.639 and find Him. 00:05:30.959 --> 00:05:39.160 These details about Jeremiah's context teach us that God sovereignly placed Jeremiah in that particular location, 00:05:39.160 --> 00:05:45.139 at that particular time, to fulfill His salvation purposes. 00:05:45.139 --> 00:05:53.360 And that truth would have been of tremendous comfort to Jeremiah because he faced a lot of persecution and suffering and difficulties. 00:05:53.360 --> 00:05:57.159 And when he's tempted to ask himself, 00:05:57.160 --> 00:05:58.160 why me? 00:05:58.160 --> 00:06:05.000 Why do I have to be the one to deliver this message of judgment to Israel, to Judah? 00:06:05.880 --> 00:06:14.180 Why do I have to live in Judah at a time of faithlessness and disobedience rather than in of our life is a mistake or an accident. 00:06:46.300 --> 00:06:50.200 God's not caught off guard by the twists and turns of this life, 00:06:50.200 --> 00:06:52.840 so we can trust Him and persevere
