00:00:46.219 --> 00:00:49.540 Advent comes from a Latin word that means to come or arrive, 00:00:49.540 --> 00:00:53.939 and so Advent is simply the time of year when we celebrate the fact that Jesus came. 00:00:54.060 --> 00:00:57.640 He arrived as a man in a manger in this world on this earth. 00:00:57.640 --> 00:00:59.500 And so we do two things. 00:00:59.579 --> 00:01:02.259 We celebrate Jesus' first coming when he came, 00:01:02.620 --> 00:01:05.980 and we also long for and look forward to his second coming, 00:01:06.040 --> 00:01:08.840 the fact that he has not just come once, but he's going to come again. 00:01:09.540 --> 00:01:12.060 He is, as some people say, the once and future king. 00:01:13.760 --> 00:01:18.659 And now we're at the very end of our sampler pack of the book of Micah. 00:01:18.740 --> 00:01:22.219 You remember the book of Micah is a book written in the 8th century B.C., 00:01:22.219 --> 00:01:27.840 and it's filled with the prophecies of a man named Micah who was a prophet to Israel, 00:01:28.560 --> 00:01:32.620 the southern kingdom of Israel, Judah, in the 8th century, in between two times. 00:01:32.680 --> 00:01:37.700 It was after the great kings of Israel, after the times of Saul and David and Solomon, 00:01:38.980 --> 00:01:40.599 but before the exile. 00:01:40.780 --> 00:01:44.700 And so things are not going well for Israel, but they haven't gone into exile quite yet. 00:01:44.960 --> 00:01:46.700 And it's a book about two things. 00:01:46.739 --> 00:01:48.539 It's a book about judgment and salvation. 00:01:48.540 --> 00:01:51.800 read the Supreme Court cases when they came out. 00:03:27.360 --> 00:03:29.360 And then he would discuss them with us at the dinner table. 00:03:29.439 --> 00:03:31.319 He'd say, OK, this is the court case that was decided. 00:03:31.740 --> 00:03:32.759 Here's how it ended up. 00:03:32.819 --> 00:03:34.060 Here's why it ended up that way. 00:03:34.060 --> 00:03:40.539 Anyway, we are finishing up Micah's legal docket. 00:03:41.960 --> 00:03:44.719 If you remember all the way back three weeks ago 00:03:44.719 --> 00:03:46.180 when we looked at Micah chapter 1, 00:03:46.240 --> 00:03:49.060 I began by telling you that God had a court case 00:03:49.060 --> 00:03:50.539 that he was suing his people. 00:03:51.280 --> 00:03:53.699 And he was suing his people for the sins 00:03:53.699 --> 00:03:55.659 that were outlined in chapters 1 through 3. 00:03:56.719 --> 00:03:58.140 Now, we skipped chapter 6. 00:03:58.480 --> 00:04:00.360 But in chapter 6, it's brought up again 00:04:00.360 --> 00:04:01.640 that God is suing his people. 00:04:01.639 --> 00:04:05.139 And so there's a court case that God is bringing against Israel 00:04:05.139 --> 00:04:08.519 because of the ways that they have failed to obey his law. 00:04:09.899 --> 00:04:13.339 And now we get to find out the end of the case. 00:04:13.439 --> 00:04:15.019 We get to see how it's decided. 00:04:16.519 --> 00:04:18.500 And so our question of this passage is simply, 00:04:18.639 --> 00:04:21.279 how does it end when God sues you? 00:04:23.919 --> 00:04:27.899 What is the outcome of God's court case against you? 00:04:28.060 --> 00:04:30.500 That's what Micah is going to tell us in this passage. 00:04:30.500 --> 00:04:33.779 We're in Micah chapter 7, and we're going to start at verse 8. 00:04:33.879 --> tells us that his word is more precious than gold, 00:04:49.579 --> 00:04:50.560 even the finest gold. 00:04:51.579 --> 00:04:52.899 And it is sweeter than honey, 00:04:53.500 --> 00:04:55.939 even
