writing of this song, 00:07:10.920 --> 00:07:14.500 the narrator wants us to see David as the conquering king 00:07:14.500 --> 00:07:18.240 whose enemies, the Philistines, Saul, Absalom, 00:07:18.240 --> 00:07:21.379 lie defeated around his feet. 00:07:22.740 --> 00:07:25.079 David has taken the field of battle in his life 00:07:25.079 --> 00:07:27.460 over and over and over again, 00:07:27.699 --> 00:07:30.800 and every time the Lord has given him the victory. 00:07:31.540 --> 00:07:33.439 We've seen this over the last months 00:07:33.439 --> 00:07:36.680 as we've gone through David's life chapter by chapter. 00:07:38.139 --> 00:07:40.379 And so after he has defeated these enemies, 00:07:40.560 --> 00:07:43.019 he's now cleared out a living place 00:07:43.019 --> 00:07:45.000 for the people of God in Israel. 00:07:45.620 --> 00:07:48.100 He's established a reign of peace. 00:07:48.240 --> 00:07:51.139 That would be used by his son Solomon 00:07:51.139 --> 00:07:54.379 to marshal might interpret this simply as David trying to escape blame for his fault. 00:19:23.019 --> 00:19:26.179 But that wouldn't explain the Psalms, he writes. 00:19:26.419 --> 00:19:28.559 Wherein he confesses his sin to God. 00:19:29.079 --> 00:19:32.220 David is not one who runs from his sin. 00:19:33.460 --> 00:19:36.859 Except to run from his sin to his God. 00:19:38.519 --> 00:19:42.019 And that I think is why he can say the things he says here. 00:19:43.059 --> 00:19:50.440 Instead, I think we ought to see here that David is convinced of two things about God and his sin. 00:19:51.139
