And the last point is that there's evidence here for you to believe. 00:05:20.379 --> 00:05:22.400 So there's a time for you. 00:05:23.759 --> 00:05:27.520 Now, Ecclesiastes tells us there's a time 00:06:04.540 You'll see Jesus' approach to time really come through in verse 6. 00:06:06.159 --> 00:06:11.860 When he had heard that Lazarus was ill, he stayed two days longer in the place where he was. 00:06:11.959 --> 00:06:13.759 He delays to act. 00:06:13.759 --> 00:06:19.519 The Son of God would have rightly have known the severity of Lazarus' condition. 00:06:20.099 --> 00:06:24.399 How ill he was waits not just one, but two days. 00:06:24.399 --> 00:06:29.639 And the message has come from his two sisters, Mary and Martha. 00:06:29.739 --> 00:06:32.679 And it's not a message that says, brother, is ill. 00:06:33.019 --> 00:06:33.719 Come quickly. 00:06:34.679 --> 00:06:40.379 It's a message that says, Lord, he whom you love is ill. 00:06:40.379 --> 00:06:48.279 And the love of Jesus, it kind of backdrops this whole scene. 00:06:49.019 --> 00:06:51.899 Because it's highlighted and emphasized in verse 5. 00:06:53.040 --> 00:06:59.420 It says there specifically, Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus. 00:06:59.420 --> 00:07:02.800 It's almost like he loved to be with them. 00:07:02.980 --> 00:07:11.520 And the message from his sisters that he whom you love is ill almost emphasizes that great love that was evident between them. 00:07:13.379 --> 00:07:20.259 And you would, well, we would expect Jesus to go straight as he could to the one he loved. 00:07:21.220 --> 00:07:23.220 That they might get better. 00:07:23.220 --> 00:07:31.060 But we see Jesus doesn't respond in the way that we would expect or the way in which Mary and Martha would expect. 00:07:33.880 --> 00:07:38.120 And all this is happening whilst in the conversation with the disciples. 00:07:41.040 --> 00:07:47.840 Jesus goes on to say that they're going to return to Judea again. 00:07:47.839 --> 00:07:54.179 The disciples hearing that, their ears plucked up. 00:07:54.819 --> 00:07:59.079 Because if they're going to go to Judea, they know that the Jews are there ready to stone Jesus. 00:08:00.399 --> 00:08:03.839 If we're going to go there, we're possibly going to get killed. 00:08:08.359 --> 00:08:12.359 For the disciples, it seems like the right time to stay put, doesn't it? 00:08:13.159 --> 00:08:14.599 It would be the wise thing to do. 00:08:15.219 --> 00:08:16.799 Stay where we are. 00:08:17.839 --> 00:08:25.379 Jesus responds by saying in verse 9 that, well, there's 12 hours in a day. 00:08:27.000 --> 00:08:28.359 He refers to time. 00:08:29.239 --> 00:08:34.659 And commentators will agree that, well, what he's saying here is that, well, there's a time for work to be done. 00:08:35.279 --> 00:08:41.139 You know, you graft your hours in the daytime and then you rest in the dark in the evening. 00:08:41.139 --> 00:08:44.960 Jesus is saying, what needs to be done will be done. 00:08:44.960 --> 00:08:50.120 And the time that I've been given, my hour has not yet come. 00:08:51.659 --> 00:08:54.740 These are the days to work for the glory of God. simply. 00:13:27.879 --> 00:13:33.159 But Martha recognizes, yes, there's going to be a day of resurrection. 00:13:34.279 --> 00:13:38.240 She knows and she understands that everyone will rise.
