cave system, miles underground, the waters raised up, and they were stuck. 00:05:27.899 --> 00:05:34.139 And these divers flew from all over the world, and they came, and they managed to save every one of them. 00:05:34.419 --> 00:05:37.839 Quite a remarkable story of rescue. 00:05:38.859 --> 00:05:41.959 You know, in times of difficulty, we do need to look for help. 00:05:41.959 --> 00:05:43.839 But where do we look? 00:05:43.839 --> 00:05:55.060 Well, this morning, we'll see that the people here, well, they trust in the Lord, even in their difficult times in life. 00:05:55.060 --> 00:05:57.060 Why do they do so? 00:05:57.060 --> 00:06:00.199 Well, because he has been faithful. 00:06:00.199 --> 00:06:02.800 He will be faithful. 00:06:02.800 --> 00:06:07.899 And because he is, by definition, by character, faithful. 00:06:08.319 --> 00:06:10.660 The Lord is faithful. 00:06:10.660 --> 00:06:14.800 So we're going to look at it in three sections. 00:06:15.860 --> in their days, in days long ago. 00:07:00.720 --> 00:07:05.360 With your hand you drove out the nations and planted our ancestors. 00:07:05.640 --> 00:07:09.680 You crushed the peoples and made our ancestors flourish. 00:07:13.000 --> 00:07:15.480 So we see this faithful passing on. 00:07:15.740 --> 00:07:20.100 The people writing this psalm, they have heard from the previous generations. 00:07:20.320 --> 00:07:25.720 It has been passed down just what God has done for them in times gone by. 00:07:25.720 --> 00:07:36.720 And as Peter mentioned this morning, actually, that there is many situations in the Bible where people are instructed to pass on the good that God has done for them. 00:07:37.260 --> 00:07:50.460 In Exodus chapter 10, verse 2, Moses, when the plagues are going on, Moses is instructed by God to pass on to your grandson and your grandchildren all that God has done and that you have seen. 00:07:50.459 --> 00:07:58.560 And in Deuteronomy 6, the people of Israel are instructed to pass on the goodness of God from generation to generation. 00:08:00.079 --> 00:08:08.159 And they are remembering times that God drove out the nations, planted their ancestors, crushed the peoples and made the ancestors flourish. 00:08:09.159 --> 00:08:13.259 You know, potentially they're talking about the promised land, the land of Canaan. 00:08:13.259 --> 00:08:22.759 And if we know that story, then the people of Israel, they were taken out of Egypt and eventually they ended up in the promised land, in their own glorious land. 00:08:23.939 --> 00:08:27.719 But they admit in verse 3 that it was all God's work. 00:08:28.839 --> 00:08:34.899 It was not by their sword, the ancestors' sword, that they won the land, nor did their arm bring them victory. 00:08:34.899 -->
