00:01:08.460 --> 00:01:10.140 You know, that question of authority. 00:01:10.600 --> 00:01:15.140 And we find that they started to ask all sorts of different things about, 00:01:15.140 --> 00:01:20.920 how do we give up tribute or responsibility and accountability between Caesar, 00:01:21.260 --> 00:01:23.719 which is the government, and with God? 00:01:23.819 --> 00:01:25.739 How do those things balance? 00:01:25.939 --> 00:01:29.599 Remember, Jesus said to render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar's, 00:01:29.620 --> 00:01:31.599 and unto God the things that are God's. 00:01:32.079 --> 00:01:37.799 And He answered them well, and they had a probing question about marriage and the resurrection. 00:01:37.799 --> 00:01:44.140 And finally, one came, as we looked last week, and asked Him the question very clearly, 00:01:44.259 --> 00:01:45.920 you know, which is the greatest commandment? 00:01:46.000 --> 00:01:53.399 Which commandment gives us priority, and which one sets the parameters for the rest of them? 00:01:53.879 --> 00:01:55.439 On what are those things hung? 00:01:55.560 --> 00:01:57.739 How do those things put together? Whose son is he? 00:04:01.699 --> 00:04:05.039 He's asking them a question of whose son is Christ. 00:04:05.179 --> 00:04:07.179 In other words, who is the Messiah? 00:04:08.399 --> 00:04:09.579 Is what he's asking. 00:04:09.679 --> 00:04:11.199 How do those things fit together? 00:04:11.579 --> 00:04:13.280 How are those things put together? 00:04:13.280 --> 00:04:17.060 Because Jesus, after they say, because notice this, 00:04:17.120 --> 00:04:17.959 they say unto him, 00:04:18.060 --> 00:04:19.839 The son of David. 00:04:20.819 --> 00:04:22.139 Now I want you to understand, 00:04:22.259 --> 00:04:25.800 they had a partially correct answer. 00:04:27.660 --> 00:04:30.300 There was nothing inaccurate about their answer. 00:04:31.839 --> 00:04:33.899 But you know, when you were in Messiah 00:07:12.779 --> 00:07:15.639 impacts everything. 00:07:15.639 --> 00:07:19.060 The question Jesus is asking here 00:07:19.060 --> 00:07:20.680 is still relevant today 00:07:20.680 --> 00:07:22.939 because what somebody thinks about Jesus 00:07:22.939 --> 00:07:27.439 when it comes to answering what Jesus is asking here 00:07:27.439 --> 00:07:29.879 has eternal implications. 00:07:31.579 --> 00:07:34.639 Because our very salvation is built upon the fact 00:07:34.639 --> 00:07:38.860 that Jesus is all that he is. 00:07:38.979 --> 00:07:40.399 Not just that he's man, 00:07:40.500 --> 00:07:41.719 and not just that he's God, 00:07:41.839 --> 00:07:43.339 but that he was the God-man. 00:07:43.339 --> 00:07:47.179 You know, the fancy term theologically 00:07:47.179 00:08:40.639 because the common teaching of the day 00:08:40.639 --> 00:08:42.580 that Christ or Messiah 00:08:42.580 --> 00:08:45.080 would one day come through the lineage of David. 00:08:45.879 --> 00:08:48.419 Now their answer we saw there in Matthew 00:08:48.419 --> 00:08:49.960 was pretty quick and concise, 00:08:50.460 --> 00:08:53.639 was not any disagreement among them. 00:08:53.679 --> 00:08:54.639 Now I want you to understand, 00:08:54.740 --> 00:08:55.779 when you see in the scripture, 00:08:56.480 --> 00:08:58.779 Christ or Messiah, 00:08:58.779 --> 00:09:02.120 they're referring to the same. 00:09:03.740 --> 00:09:05.100 There's no difference. 00:09:05.220 --> 00:09:06.959 One is a Greek reference word, 00:09:07.059 --> 00:09:08.620 the other is a Hebrew word, 00:09:09.139
