away just one day before my birthday of my cousin. 00:03:27.519 --> 00:03:38.000 So the question is, who can bring true comfort, but the one who is the life himself? 00:03:38.000 --> 00:03:49.479 That is God himself, the God who took human nature, the God who is the life himself, and 00:03:49.479 --> 00:03:53.919 in his human nature, he died. 00:03:53.919 --> 00:04:01.159 And through his death, we being blessed. 00:07:15.160 --> 00:07:20.560 And this is because we forgot how and why we have to mourn. 00:07:20.560 --> 00:07:31.560 And finally, sometimes our Christian living is becoming so dry because we do not consider 00:07:31.560 --> 00:07:36.600 the promise attached here to those who mourn. 00:07:36.600 --> 00:07:40.240 And that is true comfort. 00:07:40.240 --> 00:07:45.560 So this night I would like to talk just about two things according to this text about the 00:07:45.560 --> 00:07:54.000 necessity of true mourning, about the nature of true mourning in order to experience 00:12:18.719 That sin affects our life in a way that we don't feel even pain when we hurt someone. 00:12:18.719 --> 00:12:26.199 That's, that's, that's the result of sin, that we are doing something so bad that we 00:12:26.199 --> 00:12:36.079 are sinning against God, the God who brings true comfort, the God who uses others to comfort 00:12:36.080 --> 00:12:45.240 us, and we are so blind sometimes because of sin that we don't feel any mourning. 00:12:45.240 --> 00:12:54.560 That's a tragedy of sin. 00:12:54.560 --> 00:12:57.240 This is indolence. 00:12:57.240 --> 00:13:04.640 Sin is so awful that blind our sense of mourning and make us indolent people. 00:13:04.639 --> 00:13:15.279 At the same time, sin is so terrible because it depel us a false mourning, false mourning, we talk about true mourning, therefore there's some false mourning. 00:13:25.799 --> 00:13:27.319 What is this false mourning? 00:13:27.320 --> 00:13:36.080 It is the pain we feel for losing things that glorify our names and not God. 00:13:36.080 --> 00:13:46.000 In other words, when a man, when a person cannot satisfy his idolatry. 00:13:46.000 --> 00:13:48.240 What do I mean by this? what I'm talking about. 00:14:00.519 --> 00:14:08.719 It could be money, a career, fame, reputation, whatever, ministry. 00:14:08.719 --> 00:14:20.519 So when that idol is gone, when we cannot satisfy even a secret, sinful desire, we get frustrated 00:14:20.519 --> 00:14:28.279 and we mourn. 00:14:28.279 --> 00:14:35.639 Remember the story in the Old Testament, when someone was yearning for a vineyard. 00:14:35.639 --> 00:14:39.600 I have mourning for Nabot's vineyard. 00:14:39.600 --> 00:14:47.379 And he laid down on his bed and turned away his face and would eat no food. 00:14:47.379 --> 00:14:54.080 Because he was so desperate for getting just a single vineyard. 00:14:54.080 --> 00:14:59.720 And because he couldn't, he just mourned. 00:14:59.720 --> 00:15:01.559 This is a false mourning. 00:15:01.559 --> 00:15:09.000 This false mourning lead us to run even to seven worst idols or sins. 00:15:09.000 --> 00:15:14.320 It is to mourn for the absurd. 00:15:14.320 --> 00:15:18.320 And you can think, but Israel, why are you talking about this? 00:15:18.320 --> 00:15:20.360 Because sadly this is the reality of sin. 00:15:20.360 --> 00:15:22.560 We are mourning for the absurd. 00:15:22.560 --> 00:15:28.600 It's like mourning for the death of the one who tortured and oppressed us. 00:15:28.600 --> 00:15:34.080 Thus, there's a lack of true mourning. 00:15:34.080 --> 00:15:38.200 So let's talk about the nature of true mourning. 00:15:38.200 --> 00:15:45.640 When we read the prophet about the prophet Isaiah in chapter 6, and when we saw and when 00:15:45.640 --> 00:15:54.680 he had this vision of God, and the seraphim, one called to the other and said, Holy, holy, 00:15:54.680 --> 00:15:56.400 holy is the Lord of hosts. 00:15:56.400 --> 00:16:00.320 The whole earth is full of his glory. 00:16:00.320 --> 00:16:04.920 What was the response of this prophet? 00:16:04.919 --> 00:16:13.279 He just declared, woe is me, for I am lost, for I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell 00:16:13.279 --> 00:16:18.599 in the midst of a people of unclean lips. 00:16:18.599 --> 00:16:28.159 So first in true mourning, there is a pain, a mourning for having sinned against God. 00:16:28.159 --> 00:16:33.279 Woe is me, for I am lost, for I am a man of unclean lips. 00:16:33.279 --> 00:16:37.120 Here we can see a recognition of three things. 00:16:37.120 --> 00:16:43.120 The first is this declaration, woe is me. 00:16:43.120 --> 00:16:54.240 Woe is an expression of grief and despair because of the recognition of God's curse 00:16:54.240 --> 00:17:02.159 or wrath above him, above me. 00:17:02.159 --> 00:17:09.039 So again, this is not a time for a party, but for mourning. 00:17:09.039 --> 00:17:15.159 The prophet here, he is conscious of God's judgment because he is before the one who 00:17:15.159 --> 00:17:18.599 is thrice, holy. 00:17:18.599 --> 00:17:28.879 And he's declaring that he is a person, he's a man of unclean lips. 00:17:28.879 --> 00:17:31.480 He's conscious of God's judgment. 00:17:31.480 --> 00:17:38.559 He's aware that he's a lost person, and that is that he's lost or ruined. 00:17:38.559 --> 00:17:43.079 And this is an echo of a poor in spirit. 00:17:43.079 --> 00:17:48.480 This is being poor in spirit again, that we have nothing to offer, but at the same time 00:17:48.480 --> 00:17:56.799 we are just declaring the reality of our disposition, every act. 00:19:15.240 --> 00:19:25.839 Probably, probably, sometimes we do not consider the ugliness of sin or in an old-fashioned 00:19:25.839 --> 00:19:37.359 way the sinfulness of So here, this prophet, I say, was a man of, not only he was a man of unclean lips, but 00:20:55.599 --> 00:20:57.599 also the people. 00:20:57.599 --> 00:21:05.839 Woe is me, for I am lost, for I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of 00:21:05.839 --> 00:21:10.879 a people of unclean lips. 00:21:10.880 --> 00:21:24.200 We mourn, we sorrow because we envy others, because we are envy, 00:25:25.519 We mourn not as professional and very emotional mourners of Jesus' time, but we mourn even 00:25:25.519 --> 00:25:29.319 as Jesus did. 00:25:29.319 --> 00:25:35.640 Jesus wept because of the bed of his friend Lazarus. 00:25:35.640 --> 00:25:43.000 So in the Old Testament you see like professional mourners that they were just mourning for 00:25:43.000 --> 00:25:45.040 money. 00:25:45.040 --> 00:25:50.360 But Jesus is calling us to true mourning. 00:25:50.360 --> 00:25:55.320 And Jesus wept because of the death of Lazarus. 00:25:55.320 --> 00:26:02.440 There's a true mourning because Jesus knew and loved his friend and he knew the condition 00:26:02.440 --> 00:26:04.400 of his friend. 00:26:04.400 --> 00:26:13.600 So for true mourning there must be a true knowledge, not just in our heads, but a relational 00:26:13.600 --> 00:26:15.680 knowledge. 00:26:15.680 --> 00:26:20.720 In this case was between Jesus and Lazarus. 00:26:20.720 --> 00:26:24.360 So there's a true mourning because Jesus knew and loved his friend and he knew about 00:26:24.360 --> 00:26:25.700 his condition. 00:26:25.700 --> 00:26:33.680 So we are truly blessed when God illuminates our heart and convinces us about having sinned 00:26:33.680 --> 00:26:41.920 against him, against our friends, against society. 00:26:41.920 --> 00:26:44.720 So true mourning lead us to true comfort. 00:26:44.720 --> 00:26:52.320 Now the second point of this, we are blessed because we are comforted here on earth. 00:26:52.320 --> 00:26:54.960 We know that there is a promise for the future. 00:26:54.960 --> 00:26:58.759 They shall be comforted. 00:26:58.759 --> 00:27:08.559 But also we can taste a little bit of that here while we are pilgrims. 00:27:08.559 --> 00:27:21.480 God
