comparison between those days of Noah and that day of the coming of the Son of Man. 00:05:21.660 --> 00:05:24.460 We see that in verses 37 through, I think, 41. 00:05:24.819 --> 00:05:30.160 And then finally, in verse 42, we're going to land this plane in Jesus saying to you, 00:05:30.660 --> 00:05:33.480 because you don't know, this is how you live. 00:05:34.439 --> 00:05:36.460 And he uses an exhortation. 00:05:36.459 --> 00:05:38.519 He says, stay awake. 00:05:40.139 --> 00:05:48.719 So, a heavenly insight, a very interesting comparison, and then the present call to stay awake. 00:08:40.720 And he's submitting himself in such a way that he himself is saying, I can live with not knowing. 00:08:40.939 --> 00:08:43.159 I will live with not knowing because that's your will. 00:08:43.159 --> 00:08:52.100 And so what that does is, our king, risen king, doesn't know something and we share in his not knowing something. 00:08:52.439 --> 00:08:54.240 It unites us with him. those are the angels that he's talking to are the ones in 2431 who have been given the task of being sent out when Jesus comes back to gather all the elect to Jesus. 00:09:29.400 --> 00:09:29.560 Okay? 00:09:29.559 --> 00:09:33.179 So the angels who are going to do the gathering go to Archangel Michael. 00:09:33.379 --> 00:09:38.039 And they're like, Archangel Michael, is this day that day? 00:09:38.139 --> 00:09:39.919 Are we going back today? 00:09:40.339 --> 00:09:41.879 And Archangel Michael says, you know what? 00:09:41.899 --> 00:09:42.779 That's a really good question. second thing I want you to notice is a comparison in verses 37 through 41. 00:14:40.320 --> 00:14:53.020 Jesus is making a comparison about those days of Noah and saying, hey, they're like that day of the coming of the Son of Man. 00:14:53.019 --> 00:14:58.579 For as were the days of Noah, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. 00:14:59.299 --> 00:15:04.519 Here's what you need to know that's implied here that I need to make explicit for you. 00:15:05.860 --> 00:15:09.600 Noah did not know when the flood was going to hit. 00:15:09.600 --> 00:15:15.800 God told him in Genesis 6 that he needed to build this ark because the flood was coming. 00:15:16.159 --> 00:15:19.060 He did not tell him a day or an hour. 00:15:20.259 --> 00:15:22.279 And so Noah responds in faith. 00:15:23.100 --> 00:15:24.340 And he gets to work. 00:15:26.080 --> 00:15:31.100 And so what we see here, this illustration Jesus is using and pointing us to Noah. 00:15:31.100 --> 00:15:40.180 He's giving us a biblical precedent for something coming, a judgment coming that was unknown that you must be ready for. 00:15:41.920 --> 00:15:45.259 And so Noah, God said, hey, flood's coming. 00:15:45.399 --> in faith. 00:15:54.620 --> 00:15:56.700 He responded by getting ready. 00:15:56.700 --> 00:16:07.560 But something else you notice is that Noah, he's part of a smaller group in the context of a group of people who are living a very different life. 00:16:08.460 --> 00:16:09.620 Look at verse 38. 00:16:10.900 --> 00:16:14.879 For as in those days before the flood, they were eating and drinking,
