about those who are in prison in that sense of being put in jail that this can apply to. 00:01:23.859 --> 00:01:27.120 You can apply it to the church here in Galatia. 00:01:27.219 --> 00:01:29.460 You could apply it to ourselves. 00:01:30.280 --> 00:01:37.060 The church in Galatia falls into this bracket because what we have as we read through this letter 00:01:37.060 --> 00:01:40.120 is a sense of being set free. 00:01:40.280 --> 00:01:43.180 The people being set free in Christ. 00:01:43.180 --> 00:01:50.420 But then within a short space of time finding themselves falling back into what we 00:04:31.459 In chapter 4 of this letter, Galatians, Paul makes reference to Abraham and Sarah and Hagar. 00:04:31.620 --> 00:04:34.620 They're from the Old Testament, from the book of Genesis. 00:04:35.319 --> 00:04:37.879 And the struggles that they had. 00:04:38.399 --> 00:04:39.139 They struggled. 00:04:39.680 --> 00:04:42.979 And you think, Abraham, he was a man sent by God. 00:04:43.599 --> 00:04:45.219 He was a father of the faith. 00:04:45.220 --> 00:04:47.340 Surely, he didn't have these struggles. 00:04:48.140 --> 00:04:49.180 But yes, he did. 00:04:49.920 --> 00:04:53.020 He struggled to trust God with his wife, Sarah. 00:04:53.500 --> 00:04:57.520 That God could take care of every situation that they were in. 00:04:57.800 --> 00:05:00.560 And instead, 00:06:02.899 How many times this week have you said, I wish I hadn't behaved like that? 00:06:02.899 --> 00:06:07.299 Again and again we can relate to these words. 00:06:07.919 --> 00:06:10.519 The good I want to do, I do not do. 00:06:12.719 --> 00:06:15.959 And so we are repeat offenders. 00:06:16.739 --> 00:06:18.279 It's a common struggle. 00:06:18.519 --> 00:06:20.599 It's a real struggle. this body of death? 00:06:51.660 --> 00:06:52.719 Well, he's able to say, 00:06:52.980 --> 00:06:57.759 Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord. 00:06:58.259 --> 00:07:01.139 He is able to rescue us. 00:07:01.139 --> 00:07:08.479 And that's what we have a reminder of here in chapter 5 of Galatians as well. 00:07:08.860 --> 00:07:11.419 Very similar to what Paul is saying in Romans. struggle. 00:08:53.240 --> 00:08:57.220 But have we or are we maturing in that sense? 00:08:57.220 --> 00:09:03.220 Are we growing in that sense of seeing life in all of its differences, 00:09:03.399 --> 00:09:05.600 all of its varieties, and all of its struggles? 00:09:07.040 --> 00:09:09.639 And recognizing that, hold on a minute. 00:09:10.540 --> 00:09:13.040 There's something serious about life here. 00:09:13.700 --> 00:09:15.759 It's not just frivolous. 00:09:16.320 --> 00:09:18.759 It's not just doing what I like, what I enjoy. 00:09:19.700 --> 00:09:22.060 But there are consequences to things. 00:09:22.059 --> 00:09:28.719 Paul here is speaking to the Galatians about two different types of lives that they can live. 00:09:29.759 --> 00:09:32.139 The first, we all live. 00:09:33.000 --> 00:09:37.479 But the second, we can only live through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. 00:09:38.419 --> 00:09:42.899 The first life he's speaking of here is the sinful life. 00:09:43.079 --> 00:09:47.719 The life, as he calls it, under the flesh, with the desires of the flesh. 00:09:47.720 --> 00:09:52.259 The other is the life that we have through the Spirit. 00:09:53.180 --> 00:09:56.759 And they both have an outline of what this entails. 00:09:56.920 --> 00:09:58.820 There's lists for each of them. 00:09:59.460 --> 00:10:04.399 If you are living a life of the flesh, he gives you a list of things that you are caught up in. 00:10:04.940 --> 00:10:09.879 If you are to live a life in the Spirit, then he gives you a list that is very different. 00:11:12.219 But that's not just being free from the struggle of sin entirely. 00:11:12.399 --> 00:11:15.399 That struggle goes on while we are in this world. 00:11:15.539 --> 00:11:18.859 We struggle with sin because we are repeat offenders. 00:11:19.399 --> 00:11:21.539 You see it time and a time again. 00:11:21.719 --> 00:11:25.339 Paul warns that we struggle in this freedom. 00:11:25.439 --> 00:11:27.039 That we can easily fall back. 00:11:27.139 --> 00:11:31.859 And sin can so easily just take over our lives once more. 00:11:31.860 --> 00:11:35.340 He's warned of it at the end of that road leads to life. 00:17:50.960 --> 00:17:54.660 And only a few will find it. 00:17:55.460 --> 00:18:00.579 As Paul said in Romans 7 verse 25, 00:18:00.740 --> 00:18:01.600 Who will help me?
