In our study of this account, John's account of Jesus of Nazareth, His life, 00:00:45.780 --> 00:00:51.700 we've just been seeing His glory in the last of seven signs. 00:00:52.359 --> 00:00:56.079 Signs that Jesus performs to point us to who He is. 00:00:56.079 --> 00:01:02.439 And just in this last one, He has raised Lazarus from the dead and said, 00:01:02.619 --> 00:01:05.840 I am the resurrection and the life. 00:01:06.980 --> 00:01:14.079 After several weeks further away from Jerusalem, away from the leaders who are plotting His death, 00:01:14.079 --> 00:01:17.780 Jesus now heads back towards Jerusalem. 00:01:17.780 --> 00:01:24.179 And He stops in Bethany again, that same town where Lazarus is raised from the dead. 00:01:24.620 --> 00:01:29.159 And maybe no surprise, they throw a dinner in His honor. 00:01:29.340 --> 00:01:33.620 Lazarus and His sisters are guests at the dinner. 00:01:33.620 --> 00:01:38.640 Before we read about that extravagant celebration of Jesus, 00:01:39.020 --> 00:01:43.600 let me just make one point from verses 9 through 11. 00:01:43.599 --> 00:01:52.099 We mentioned last week that not only did the Jewish leaders begin to get concerned about 00:01:52.099 --> 00:01:55.019 too many people believing in Jesus, so they wanted to kill Him, 00:01:55.299 --> 00:01:59.560 but also Lazarus became a problem. 00:01:59.739 --> 00:02:03.239 Lazarus was walking around alive and telling his story 00:02:03.239 --> 00:02:06.679 and causing too many people to believe in Jesus, 00:02:06.680 --> 00:02:10.520 so they decided they needed to kill Lazarus too. 00:02:11.580 --> 00:02:18.180 All of a sudden, Lazarus is a star witness for Jesus, isn't he? 00:02:18.800 --> 00:02:22.780 But as far as we know, Lazarus never taught a class, 00:02:23.719 --> 00:02:26.520 never led a community work day, 00:02:26.700 --> 00:02:30.000 never did anything at all that we know of 00:02:30.000 --> 00:02:34.300 besides walk out of a grave at Jesus' calling. 00:02:34.300 --> 00:02:38.700 And I hope that is an encouragement to you, 00:02:39.060 --> 00:02:42.600 that being someone who shares the good news of Jesus 00:02:42.600 --> 00:02:46.620 is not about what you have done for Jesus, 00:02:46.920 --> 00:02:49.880 but about what Jesus has done for you. 00:02:50.120 --> 00:02:54.640 Lazarus shows us that that's what makes for a
