idea of joy really floods the Christmas season. 00:01:47.420 --> 00:01:49.859 Unbelievers think they have joy in this season. 00:01:49.980 --> 00:01:55.980 They think they have it through spending time with their family or receiving a bunch of material gifts. 00:01:55.980 --> 00:02:01.320 But believers, we see this good news of great joy that is to be to all people. 00:02:01.540 --> 00:02:04.460 That salvation that the Lord is bringing. 00:02:04.579 --> 00:02:11.780 And so this morning, I want to help us get a glimpse of a few different aspects of that joy that Christ has brought like to walk through it a bit. 00:03:47.020 --> 00:03:53.780 And just to show a lot of the aspects of joy, because there are a lot of different things about it that are pretty incredible for us as Noah Webster was making dictionaries, he used to cite scripture references for all of his definitions. 00:04:42.420 --> 00:04:46.900 And this is one that's way back in the day when that was the case. he used that word, Piper is super quick to emphasize that it is something that is produced by the Holy Spirit. 00:07:51.899 --> 00:07:56.860 And how it comes to us is by seeing the work of Christ, both in his word and in the world. 00:07:57.279 --> 00:08:01.740 So coming from those two perspectives, I think we can clearly see that, yes, it is a feeling. 00:08:02.360 --> 00:08:08.139 And it's a feeling that we get as we look to that hope that we have in Christ that we spoke about last week. 00:08:08.139 --> 00:08:13.060 And I think it's a really good thing to look to hope, to see joy. learning about them as they've become a part of our fellowship. 00:16:42.319 --> 00:16:44.759 That's Christ's work in the world that is bringing us joy. 00:16:44.759 --> 00:16:48.220 Those same types of stories that we see in acts of people coming to faith, 00:16:48.480 --> 00:16:49.419 we see that now. 00:16:49.600 --> 00:16:51.100 We see that in the world around us, 00:16:51.120 --> 00:16:52.439 00:24:43.539 --> 00:24:45.700 and therefore provides. 00:24:46.539 --> 00:24:49.039 God values his people and therefore provides. 00:24:49.039 --> 00:24:51.379 We can trust our Lord 00:24:51.379 --> 00:24:53.480 because he provides for birds and grass 00:24:53.480 --> 00:24:56.159 and remember who we are to him. 00:24:56.779 --> 00:24:58.379 We are his holy nation, 00:24:58.559 --> 00:25:00.779 his peculiar people that he has brought about 00:25:00.779 --> 00:25:02.759 so that we can proclaim his excellencies. 00:25:03.240 --> 00:25:05.359 Will he not much more provide for us? 00:25:06.480 00:25:24.180 focused on material things. 00:25:24.259 --> 00:25:26.660 And they might even worry about some good things 00:25:26.660 --> 00:25:29.599 like how they can best provide for their family 00:25:29.599 --> 00:25:31.599 or how they can eat healthy. 00:25:32.279 --> 00:25:35.480 But they do this so often out of a heart of anxiety, 00:25:35.619 --> 00:25:36.539 a heart of worry. 00:25:38.119 --> 00:25:39.799 Anxiety characterizes unbelievers. 00:25:41.160 --> 00:25:42.720 And verse 34 says, 00:25:43.240 --> 00:25:44.920 Tomorrow will be anxious for itself. 00:25:45.940 --> of Jesus' teaching 00:26:23.339 --> 00:26:25.039 not to be anxious. 00:26:25.039 --> 00:26:29.799 So what are we doing when we're continuing in our anxiety? 00:26:31.180 --> 00:26:31.879 We're from the Lord, 00:27:41.000 --> 00:27:41.740 in His providence, 00:27:42.240 --> 00:27:43.579 where we have our joy, 00:27:44.420 --> 00:27:47.359 and it puts it back on the cares of this world.
