and all those rebellious tribes were destroyed and they destroyed a lot of judah but jerusalem did not 00:16:19.939 --> 00:16:27.360 fall god protected jerusalem it stayed right because god was ups and downs but jerusalem never fell because of god's steadfast love and faithfulness 00:16:39.740 --> 00:16:46.419 isn't this wonderful can you can't you imagine even the psalmist just you know let in 587 bc 00:17:00.259 --> 00:17:09.519 because the thing is if you read on in the bible david's kingdom did end josiah was the last great 00:17:09.519 --> 00:17:14.900 king and he brought revival but after josiah came the babylonian empire and they were big 00:17:14.900 --> 00:17:22.700 they were powerful and they took over the middle east and they came to jerusalem and they took away 00:17:22.700 --> 00:17:27.420 the king and they took away the upper class and the middle class and the silver and the gold and 00:17:27.420 --> 00:17:34.980 sent them all into exile and they installed a puppet king uh zedekiah and after a few years he rebelled 00:17:34.980 --> 00:17:40.920 and then the babylonians yeah they sent their whole army and they besieged jerusalem for three years 00:17:40.920 --> 00:17:49.779 it was a horrific siege they ran out of food they ran out of water it was terrible now the king tried to escape 00:17:49.779 --> 00:17:56.980 he tried to run away but he was captured and what did they do with the king well first they made him watch 00:17:56.980 --> 00:18:03.700 as uh all his sons were killed it's like the end of the family line right no more sons no more descendants the previous king you know he became king at age 18 he 00:24:12.519 --> 00:24:20.240 was just a teenager when babylon came he surrendered he was taken to exile but because he surrendered he was 00:24:49.519 it's not what they expected they didn't realize the scope of god's plan they didn't realize how big god's 00:24:49.519 --> 00:24:55.519 plan was they kind of thought you know david and solomon are good enough we just need a good king who can 00:24:55.519 --> 00:25:01.459 defeat our enemies they didn't realize what they really needed what they needed was a king who could deal
