goings on there. 00:00:46.760 --> 00:00:51.500 But this chapter at first seems to have not much happening in it. 00:00:51.500 --> 00:00:59.820 And then at a second look you realise, wait, what's going Testament writers frequently make much of the links between David 00:01:27.760 --> 00:01:31.599 and great David's greater son. 00:01:33.359 --> 00:01:35.260 But David is just a man. 00:01:36.260 --> 00:01:38.939 A fallen man like the rest of us. 00:01:40.140 --> 00:01:43.920 And in this passage we see him not so much as a picture of Christ, 00:01:44.579 --> 00:01:48.240 but as a picture of us in all our weakness and folly. 00:01:48.239 --> 00:01:52.640 I hope I'm not being too harsh on David. 00:01:53.979 --> 00:01:58.000 But while some of his actions in this chapter may be debatable, 00:02:41.099 But fear is nothing new to David. 00:02:42.479 --> 00:02:45.839 Saul's been chasing him on and off for the last nine chapters, 00:02:46.619 --> 00:02:48.179 probably about as many years.
