what we see happening as we read through is a gradual decline in how long people lived. 00:03:13.979 --> 00:03:21.359 As the effects of the curse take hold, so the span of life shortens. 00:03:21.360 the different accounts that we've been looking at? 00:04:24.980 --> 00:04:28.960 First, there were the lies Abraham told about his wife Sarah. 00:04:29.680 --> 00:04:33.480 Whenever they arrived to a new place, they were nomadic people, 00:04:33.620 --> 00:04:36.280 so they would travel from one destination to another. 00:04:36.279 --> 00:04:40.699 And when they arrived in a new place, 00:04:41.279 --> 00:04:46.439 it seemed the ruling lords were known for killing off the men and taking all the women. 00:04:46.759 --> 00:04:49.459 So Abraham came up with a wonderful plan. 00:05:55.379 Abraham, Abraham, we're told, 00:05:55.680 --> 00:05:58.000 had taken another wife. 00:05:58.919 --> 00:06:04.879 Which suggests that he actually had more than one living wife. 00:06:05.759 --> 00:06:08.859 In fact, the text tells us that he did have others. 00:06:09.240 --> 00:06:10.519 Look down at verse 6. 00:06:11.419 --> 00:06:13.539 But while he was still living, 00:06:14.079 --> 00:06:17.379 he gave birth to the sons of his concubines. 00:06:17.379 --> 00:06:21.359 Now, concubines were other women that men took. 00:06:21.360 --> 00:06:25.259 Well, they weren't quite a wife or in the category of wife, 00:06:25.340 --> 00:06:26.360 just a little bit below. 00:06:26.540 --> 00:06:29.480 But they took them to themselves nonetheless. 00:06:30.960 -->
