00:00:25.219 --> 00:00:27.620 Well, it's great to be with you this morning 00:00:27.620 --> 00:00:31.320 as we are continuing our sermon series on Christ 00:00:31.320 --> 00:00:35.560 as the Creator, the Redeemer, and the Sustainer. 00:00:35.560 --> 00:00:38.039 As a reminder, I want all of us to know 00:00:38.039 --> 00:00:41.240 that this series is based off of three different passages 00:00:41.240 --> 00:00:42.280 in Scripture. 00:00:42.280 --> 00:00:46.000 In your notes, you'll see that Christ as Creator, Redeemer, 00:00:46.000 --> 00:00:50.620 and Sustainer is biblically based off of Colossians chapter one, 00:00:50.620 --> 00:00:53.719 verses 15 through 20, John chapter one, 00:00:53.719 --> 00:00:57.479 verses one through 14, and Hebrews chapter one, 00:00:57.479 --> 00:00:58.519 verses one through three. 00:00:58.519 --> 00:01:02.619 So it's a pattern that was found in Scripture. 00:01:02.619 --> 00:01:05.519 You know, when we discover patterns in the Word of God, 00:01:05.519 --> 00:01:07.900 it is something that should not be ignored. 00:01:07.900 --> 00:01:10.039 It is something that should be studied 00:01:10.039 --> 00:01:12.340 and shared with others. 00:01:12.340 --> 00:01:16.159 And with this in mind, we're going over Jesus Christ 00:01:16.159 --> 00:01:18.200 as the Redeemer. 00:01:18.200 --> 00:01:20.599 And that is a very exciting message. 00:01:20.599 --> 00:01:21.599 I'm very excited. 00:01:21.599 --> 00:01:24.679 And I hope that all of you are excited for the message 00:01:24.679 --> 00:01:26.000 this morning. 00:01:26.000 --> 00:01:29.399 We're going to be focusing on Christ's sacrifice 00:01:29.399 --> 00:01:31.519 on the cross for us. 00:01:31.519 --> 00:01:34.719 In his death, we have the ability 00:01:34.719 --> 00:01:36.640 to receive everlasting life. 00:01:36.640 --> 00:01:40.599 It's his death, his burial, and his resurrection. 00:01:40.599 --> 00:01:42.679 You know, what makes Christianity different 00:01:42.679 --> 00:01:44.799 than any other faith in the world 00:01:44.799 --> 00:01:50.280 has to do with God sending his own son to die for our sins 00:01:50.280 --> 00:01:54.079 rather than us continually doing this never ending 00:01:54.079 --> 00:01:58.640 checklist of paying for our own sins, basically, 00:01:58.640 --> 00:02:00.840 to please God for a moment. 00:02:00.840 --> 00:02:03.760 It's like having this never ending payment, if you will. 00:02:03.760 --> 00:02:06.480 And God forbid you miss a payment, right? 00:02:06.480 --> 00:02:08.280 Oh man, I don't want to miss that payment. 00:02:08.280 --> 00:02:10.080 But you know what? 00:02:10.080 --> 00:02:14.680 I believe in Jesus Christ who died on that cross for my sins. 00:02:14.680 --> 00:02:16.759 Do you believe in Jesus Christ? 00:02:16.759 --> 00:02:21.439 Do you recognize that Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world, 00:02:21.439 --> 00:02:23.079 the Messiah? 00:02:23.079 --> 00:02:26.159 Because Christ, as the Redeemer for our sins, 00:02:26.159 --> 00:02:29.359 is the greatest sacrifice for us. 00:02:29.359 --> 00:02:31.799 We can't redeem ourselves. 00:02:31.799 --> 00:02:33.319 We cannot. 00:02:33.319 --> 00:02:37.560 We cannot earn salvation on our own merit and our own works. 00:02:37.560 --> 00:02:41.919 We are all sinners who are in need of a Savior. 00:02:41.919 --> 00:02:44.039 And what is great about God, like I said, 00:02:44.039 --> 00:02:49.719 is that he sent his own son to die on the cross for us 00:02:49.719 --> 00:02:53.039 rather than what all the other religions say. 00:02:53.039 --> 00:02:55.359 It's all about what you do as opposed 00:02:55.359 --> 00:02:58.280 to what has been done for you. 00:02:58.280 --> 00:03:01.519 On the third day, he rose again from the dead. 00:03:01.519 --> 00:03:06.159 Christ, our Redeemer, rose from the dead conquering death 00:03:06.159 --> 00:03:07.639 itself. 00:03:07.639 --> 00:03:12.239 This was to fulfill the prophecies of the holy scriptures 00:03:12.240 --> 00:03:16.080 or the sacred writings of the Old Testament. 00:03:16.080 --> 00:03:20.200 It was to show us the love that God has for us. 00:03:20.200 --> 00:03:24.280 And I pray that today we may come closer to God, 00:03:24.280 --> 00:03:27.520 that we will have that saving knowledge of him, 00:03:27.520 --> 00:03:30.000 and that we can grow in such knowledge 00:03:30.000 --> 00:03:33.800 with the implanted word going from milk to solid food 00:03:33.800 --> 00:03:35.840 of the word. 00:03:35.840 --> 00:03:38.840 But before we go any further, I'd like for us to pray. 00:03:38.840 --> 00:03:41.520 Will you pray with me? 00:05:48.159 --> 00:05:49.599 Right? 00:05:49.599 --> 00:05:52.799 I think maybe we all can answer that question 00:05:52.799 --> 00:05:54.759 by saying, yes, the world's going mad. 00:05:54.759 --> 00:05:57.639 Have you turned on the news just for a moment? 00:05:57.639 --> 00:05:59.559 Maybe you've scrolled through Facebook. 00:05:59.560 --> 00:06:03.319 Maybe you've gone on TikTok, or you've read Yahoo News, 00:06:03.319 --> 00:06:04.399 or whatever. 00:06:04.399 --> 00:06:06.480 And you're reading all of these stories 00:06:06.480 --> 00:06:12.399 about all of the trying times that are going on. 00:06:12.399 --> 00:06:16.680 More than ever before, the world is changing. 00:06:16.680 --> 00:06:18.279 There's all these recent events that 00:06:18.279 --> 00:06:22.600 have happened locally, nationally, internationally. 00:06:22.600 --> 00:06:25.840 And it seems that there's this long, never-ending list 00:06:25.840 --> 00:06:28.959 of bad event after bad event after bad event 00:06:28.959 --> 00:06:30.359 that's happening. 00:06:30.359 --> 00:06:32.560 And reading the news and hearing the stories, 00:06:32.560 --> 00:06:34.439 doesn't it drain you? 00:06:34.439 --> 00:06:37.159 Doesn't it suck the life out of you? 00:06:37.159 --> 00:06:38.359 I mean, when's the last time you've 00:06:38.359 --> 00:06:42.759 read good news online? 00:06:42.759 --> 00:06:46.359 Maybe you raise a hand here, because I'm thinking about it. 00:06:46.359 --> 00:06:49.079 I can't think of the last time that's happened. 00:06:49.079 --> 00:06:53.719 Usually, when we go on the news, it's nothing but bad news. 00:06:53.719 --> 00:06:56.439 And it makes you wonder, will things ever get better? 00:06:56.439 --> 00:06:58.799 When will Jesus come back and really 00:06:58.800 --> 00:07:02.759 put to order this chaos of this world that we're living in? 00:07:02.759 --> 00:07:05.319 We live in this changing culture, 00:07:05.319 --> 00:07:09.280 and where what is right seems wrong, 00:07:09.280 --> 00:07:13.480 and what is wrong is being proposed as right. 00:07:13.480 --> 00:07:16.720 Living in a world where truth is presented as a lie, 00:07:16.720 --> 00:07:19.639 and lies are being presented as truth, 00:07:19.639 --> 00:07:22.280 what a twisted world we live in. 00:07:22.280 --> 00:07:25.920 And it reminds me of Proverbs chapter 14, verse 12, 00:07:25.920 --> 00:07:28.519 that there is a way that seems right to a man, 00:07:28.519 --> 00:07:31.479 but its end is the way of death. 00:07:31.479 --> 00:07:33.279 That's how it works with sin. 00:07:33.279 --> 00:07:36.359 It seems right, but it is not right. 00:07:36.359 --> 00:07:39.439 It may feel right, but it is not right. 00:07:39.439 --> 00:07:43.639 In a time of lies, we need truth. 00:07:43.639 --> 00:07:48.599 In a culture of death, we need life. 00:07:48.599 --> 00:07:51.159 In a place where there's no direction, 00:07:51.159 --> 00:07:54.759 don't we need the way? 00:07:54.759 --> 00:07:57.839 There is no greater time than the here and the now 00:07:57.839 --> 00:08:01.119 for us to come to Jesus Christ, and for those of us 00:08:01.119 --> 00:08:04.839 who know Jesus Christ to share in our testimony, 00:08:04.839 --> 00:08:10.319 in the love of Christ, share the gospel with other people. 00:08:10.319 --> 00:08:14.759 Jesus Christ is the way, the truth, and the life. 00:08:14.759 --> 00:08:18.079 He is the constant in this ever-changing world. 00:08:18.079 --> 00:08:20.959 For no one comes to the Father except through Him, 00:08:20.959 --> 00:08:23.039 through Jesus Christ. 00:08:23.039 --> 00:08:26.799 For in Christ, there is new life. 00:08:26.800 --> 00:08:30.480 There is salvation that is available for all who believe 00:08:30.480 --> 00:08:31.600 in Him. 00:08:31.600 --> 00:08:33.159 There is security. 00:08:33.159 --> 00:08:36.560 There is safety and assurance in knowing God. 00:08:36.560 --> 00:08:39.519 There is confidence in knowing the Lord. 00:08:39.519 --> 00:08:42.399 There is peace that comes from Him. 00:08:42.399 --> 00:08:45.680 There is joy that comes from Him. 00:08:45.680 --> 00:08:49.840 For Christ, He is the Redeemer, and it is in Him 00:08:49.840 --> 00:08:53.360 that we do not need to worry. 00:08:53.360 --> 00:08:56.680 How many of us worry when we read the news? 00:08:56.679 --> 00:09:00.239 May we be reminded to have our faith and our trust 00:09:00.239 --> 00:09:07.039 in Jesus Christ, the solid rock, the firm foundation. 00:09:07.039 --> 00:09:09.919 We don't need to worry about anything, not war, 00:09:09.919 --> 00:09:13.079 not changing culture, not the ways of man, 00:09:13.079 --> 00:09:15.519 not the ways of this world. 00:09:15.519 --> 00:09:17.479 We don't need to worry. 00:09:17.479 --> 00:09:20.799 Our faith should be in Jesus Christ. 00:09:20.799 --> 00:09:23.639 For Christ is the Redeemer for our sins. 00:09:23.639 --> 00:09:25.959 He provides an alternative. 00:09:25.960 --> 00:09:29.519 And let me tell you, this alternative is a better way 00:09:29.519 --> 00:09:32.519 than the way that seems right. 00:09:32.519 --> 00:09:36.440 I wish to place my trust in what is right, not what feels 00:09:36.440 --> 00:09:41.480 right, not what seems right, but what is right. 00:09:41.480 --> 00:09:43.680 A better way than the ways of this world 00:09:43.680 --> 00:09:46.200 or what other faiths have to offer. 00:09:46.200 --> 00:09:48.680 Other faiths tell you they give you 00:09:48.680 --> 00:09:50.879 a list of things that you must do, 00:09:50.879 --> 00:09:54.759 like I was saying, it's this never-ending list of things 00:09:54.759 --> 00:09:56.919 that you have to constantly do. 00:09:56.919 --> 00:10:00.559 Religion will tell you, ABC, dress this way, 00:10:00.559 --> 00:10:04.080 pray that way, or pay this much for your salvation. 00:10:04.080 --> 00:10:06.600 That's what they'll tell you. 00:10:06.600 --> 00:10:08.720 It's like that monthly payment I was mentioning 00:10:08.720 --> 00:10:10.439 a little bit earlier, right?
