of war that's going on in this section of Isaiah, right? 00:04:11.699 --> 00:04:13.719 On the one hand, here's the one team. 00:04:13.719 --> 00:04:18.100 On the one hand, God has been making some seriously big promises to his people 00:04:18.100 --> 00:04:24.920 about what he will do for them when they soon find themselves in exile, 00:04:25.259 --> 00:04:28.879 away from the homeland, in Babylon, and they're thinking it's game over, 00:04:29.040 --> 00:04:30.620 thinking that God's finished with them. 00:04:31.579 --> 00:04:34.680 And he's been making big promises of how, 00:04:35.060 --> 00:04:41.100 and just taking these promises of how he will pardon their iniquity, all right? 00:04:41.100 --> 00:04:46.080 Iniquity, sin, transgression, where we've overstepped the mark against a holy God. 00:04:46.680 --> 00:04:48.420 How God is going to make that right? 00:04:49.720 --> 00:04:51.540 How God is going to rescue them? 00:04:52.439 --> 00:04:56.520 How God is going to forgive them and remember their sins no more? 00:04:57.900 --> 00:05:02.360 Promises, and get this, that this God is so lovingly committed to 00:05:02.360 --> 00:05:10.000 that he can describe his people as ourselves. 00:05:46.339 --> 00:05:53.219 But so often it's the case that it's selfishness and greed in our hearts that motivates us to claim things. 00:05:54.279 --> 00:05:56.759 But you've got to see with this God, it's the other way around. 00:05:56.759 --> 00:06:03.219 It's because of who he is that the gospel is even possible, yet alone true. 00:06:03.599 --> 00:06:06.759 He is a loving of Isaiah. 00:06:32.920 --> 00:06:43.400 But if you've got promises pulling on the one rope, okay, pulling back at the other rope is the fact that God has been putting his finger on some seriously big
