that told of his coming. 00:00:24.839 --> 00:00:26.280 It's a popular passage. 00:00:26.400 --> 00:00:27.519 You've probably heard it before. 00:00:27.519 --> 00:00:31.160 It's in Isaiah chapter 9, verse 6 and 7. 00:00:31.300 --> 00:00:31.579 It says, 00:00:31.800 --> 00:00:34.780 For us a child is born, to us a son is given. 00:00:35.519 --> 00:00:37.299 And the government shall be upon his shoulder, 00:00:37.359 --> 00:00:41.500 and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, 00:00:41.600 --> 00:00:44.060 Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. 00:00:44.460 --> 00:00:47.640 Of the increase of his government and of his peace, 00:00:48.079 --> 00:00:51.159 there will be no end on the throne of David and over his kingdom 00:00:51.159 --> 00:00:54.879 to establish it and 00:02:56.299 --> 00:02:59.859 It's in Luke chapter 1, beginning in verse 30, and it says this. 00:02:59.860 --> 00:03:01.400 And the angel said to her, 00:03:01.520 --> 00:03:06.400 Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. 00:03:07.180 --> 00:03:10.240 And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear son, 00:03:10.320 --> 00:03:12.600 and you shall call his name Jesus. 00:03:13.340 --> 00:03:17.480 He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. 00:03:17.640 --> 00:03:21.540 And the Lord God will give to him the throne of his father, David. angelic message that is given focuses on three areas of God's provision 00:03:47.120 --> 00:03:49.159 that I want to focus on this morning. 00:03:49.159 --> 00:03:55.620 And I hope it will give you comfort, encouragement, possibly conviction, if needed, this morning. 00:03:56.680 --> 00:04:00.539 First thing is, he is the one who rules. 00:04:01.180 --> 00:04:03.159 That is the theme of this passage. 00:04:03.620 --> 00:04:06.400 There are five descriptions given to this point. 00:04:06.900 --> 00:04:08.960 He says in verse 32, he will be great. 00:04:09.379 --> 00:04:14.300 That may not sound like much, but when you realize it was spoken in contrast to the rest of humanity, 00:04:14.740 --> 00:04:17.920 it just begins to get the ball rolling of sorts. 00:04:17.920 --> 00:04:21.720 He goes on to say, and will be called the Son of the Most High, 00:04:22.040 --> 00:04:25.080 which means he will be the offspring of God himself. 00:04:26.160 --> 00:04:27.640 It speaks of the throne of God. 00:04:27.720 --> 00:04:29.300 He will reign over the house of Jacob. 00:04:29.660 --> 00:04:32.040 In other words, he is the Messiah. 00:04:32.280 --> 00:04:33.780 He is the Savior. 00:04:34.160 through the lineage of David. 00:05:26.560 --> 00:05:29.779 But in reality, it would be much greater than David in Christ. 00:05:30.399 --> 00:05:32.500 He'll be the leader of God's people. is backed up by the words of Isaiah chapter 9, verses 6 and 7, when it speaks of the prince of peace and the wonderful counselor. 00:08:00.720 --> 00:08:04.800 Literally in the Hebrew, it speaks of a Now, I want you to imagine, if you would. 00:08:31.899 --> 00:08:54.039 Can you imagine going to a counselor that knew all about you and knew your situation, every part of it, more than you knew about it, much more than you knew about it, before you even spoke? 00:08:54.039 --> 00:09:00.659 A counselor you could go to, and there would be no need for you to explain your circumstances. 00:09:02.179 I'll say, rejoice. 00:09:52.139 --> 00:09:55.019 If you're rejoicing this morning, inform your face, okay? 00:09:56.019 --> 00:10:01.180 If you know the Lord Jesus, you have an eternal security that you can rest in. 00:10:01.179 --> 00:10:05.779 And no matter what your circumstances may be, you know that God's on top of it. 00:10:06.159 --> 00:10:07.859 And you, well, we ought to rejoice in that. that very hour, that hour they're talking about, 00:14:25.079 --> 00:14:29.079 is the hour in which they presented Christ in the temple. 00:14:30.179 --> 00:14:35.799 She began to give thanks to God and speak to him to all who were waiting for the redemption. 00:14:36.299 --> 00:14:40.179 And to speak of him to all who were waiting for the redemption of Jerusalem. 00:14:41.159 --> 00:14:42.220
