the manger scene, it's pretty rare to have those verses read out at Christmas services around the world. 00:06:03.480 --> 00:06:13.500 They seem rather depressing, even though they get, in fact, to the very heart of the meaning of Christmas. 00:06:14.140 --> 00:06:20.200 The words of Simeon tells us that Jesus Christ came to be rejected, 00:06:21.160 --> 00:06:26.240 and he had already reveals the ordinariness of our inner lives, of our hearts. 00:11:44.220 --> 00:11:45.879 See what Simeon says in verse 35? 00:11:46.000 --> 00:11:49.179 The thoughts of many hearts will be revealed. murderous rampage and kills boys, everyone in the vicinity of Jesus, 00:14:03.439 --> 00:14:04.600 around the age of Jesus. 00:14:06.399 --> 00:14:15.240 When Jesus Christ comes to anybody and reveals himself as the true ruler of our lives, 00:14:15.240 --> 00:14:19.340 our first instinct is to get angry with him. 00:14:21.480 --> 00:14:25.500 And people will get upset with any Christian who lives and loves like Jesus 00:14:25.500 --> 00:14:30.419 because it reminds them of their own heart and their own priorities and their own actions. 00:14:31.419 --> 00:14:34.220 The self-justification engine kicks into gear. 00:14:34.220 --> 00:14:39.560 And yet the reality is you don't have to be perfect to get rejected. 00:14:40.620 --> 00:14:50.660 Living a life like Jesus exposes corruption, --> 00:16:17.019 Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering. 00:16:17.700 --> 00:16:22.180 Yet we considered him punished by God, stricken by him and afflicted. 00:16:22.179 --> 00:16:26.579
