is that in the midst of all this human failure, 00:03:47.319 --> 00:03:53.979 all this rejection, abandonment, betrayal, false accusation, condemnation, and denial, 00:03:53.979 --> 00:03:59.780 there is this unbelievable divine revelation. 00:04:01.060 --> 00:04:06.099 It's in the midst of his rejection that he's truly revealed. 00:04:06.099 --> 00:04:12.740 It's a climactic confession of the Christ. 00:04:15.560 --> 00:04:17.360 And it will keep you from falling away. 00:04:21.139 --> 00:04:26.839 Mark 14 begins with the chief priest two days prior to Passover plotting the death of Jesus. 00:04:27.019 --> 00:04:31.040 And then Jesus is, in his own words, anointed for burial. 00:04:31.040 --> 00:04:37.100 Following that, Judas approaches the chief priests in order to betray Jesus for money. 00:04:37.660 --> 00:04:41.260 And then the disciples are in the upper room during the Passover. 00:04:41.980 --> 00:04:48.420 And Jesus tells them that one of them will betray them as the scriptures are written. 00:04:50.220 --> 00:04:54.100 Following that, they're out on the Mount of Olives. 00:04:54.100 --> 00:04:59.860 And Jesus goes on to say, they're all going to be scattered according to Zechariah 13. 00:05:00.060 --> 00:05:01.379 More it is written. 00:05:03.140 --> 00:05:08.340 Then there's Gethsemane, those hours where Jesus in his turmoil is praying, 00:05:08.700 --> 00:05:10.360 and Peter, James, and John are sleeping. 00:05:12.700 --> 00:05:14.300 And that brings us to 43. 00:05:14.300 --> 00:05:19.220 And what we're going to see unfold are several scenes. 00:05:19.780 --> 00:05:20.460 Betrayal. 00:05:21.319 --> 00:05:22.040 Abandonment. 00:05:22.699 --> 00:05:23.740 False accusation. 00:05:24.319 --> 00:05:25.379 Condemnation and mocking. 00:05:25.920 Psalm 55, 12 through 15. 00:08:19.579 --> 00:08:23.180 the betrayal of a close friend. 00:08:24.959 --> 00:08:26.339 What's amazing about this 00:08:26.339 --> 00:08:28.639 is God is sovereignly 00:08:28.639 --> 00:08:30.899 orchestrating these events. 00:08:32.279 --> 00:08:33.319 And yet, 00:08:34.120 --> 00:08:36.079 Judas is fully responsible 00:08:36.079 --> 00:08:37.220 for his actions. 00:08:37.220 --> 00:08:39.319 For the Son of Man 00:08:39.319 --> 00:08:40.819 goes as it is written, 00:08:41.620 --> 00:08:42.539 but woe to the man 00:08:42.539 --> 00:08:44.220 by whom the Son of 00:10:19.440 --> 00:10:20.600 and then he runs away naked. 00:10:24.200 --> 00:10:25.280 When the Bible talks 00:10:25.280 --> 00:10:26.120 about nakedness, 00:10:26.680 --> 00:10:28.480 it's often talking about 00:10:28.480 --> 00:10:29.400 nakedness in terms 00:10:29.400 --> 00:10:30.259 of humiliation, 00:10:32.040 --> 00:10:33.680 exposure, 00:10:34.019 --> 00:10:34.480 and shame.
