00:01:40.239 --> 00:01:42.039 He said, yes, I've just got 20 pounds. 00:01:42.140 --> 00:01:43.079 He said, why did you do that? 00:01:43.119 --> 00:01:46.419 He said, well, Sunday after Sunday, my dad comes home at lunch. 00:01:46.939 --> 00:01:53.840 He puts his head in his hands and prays, Lord, that's the poorest minister we've had for years. 00:01:53.840 --> 00:02:02.980 As we look at this, it's going to be short. 00:02:03.480 --> 00:02:08.819 As we gather this morning, we just take a look to think what it means about to be a joyous giver. 00:02:09.159 --> 00:02:16.259 What does that actually mean for us to bring joy back into that ability to be able to give and to share, 00:02:16.560 --> 00:02:18.539 which is what we've heard in our reading today. 00:02:18.539 --> 00:02:24.039 And there are three main areas that speaks about God's goodness, his provision. 00:02:24.219 --> 00:02:25.859 And so we should give that back. 00:02:26.159 --> 00:02:27.699 That should be part of our heart. 00:02:28.560 --> 00:02:31.500 Giving echoes what our hearts are trusting in. 00:02:31.560 --> 00:02:34.659 And I think that's so true as we look at these three truths. 00:02:34.819 --> 00:02:38.280 The truth, it gave them joy to give. 00:02:39.439 --> 00:02:44.120 Secondly, that self-sacrifice, that surrender to God and his purposes, 00:02:44.120 --> 00:02:48.099 and that overwhelming outpouring of God's grace, 00:02:48.460 --> 00:02:55.719 responding to that enormity to actually give back for all that we have received and will receive from God. 00:02:56.080 --> 00:02:58.060 This is the meaning. 00:02:58.960 --> 00:03:05.540 Mother Teresa, who lived amongst the world's poorest in deprivation, spoke a lot. 00:03:05.900 --> 00:03:10.240 This is the meaning of true love, she said, to give until it hurts. 00:03:10.240 --> 00:03:17.200 And she continued saying, joy is prayer, joy is strength, joy is love. 00:03:17.379 --> 00:03:22.640 Joy is a net of love by which you can catch souls. 00:03:23.860 --> 00:03:28.620 People catch it when we have that joy of giving and sharing. 00:03:29.300 --> 00:03:34.820 People see that because it is so counter-cultural to our communities. 00:03:35.879 --> 00:03:38.900 People are looking behind that thing and saying, what's the catch?
