Israel looked for God to rebuild their national pride, their city and end their pain. 00:05:12.620 --> 00:05:18.920 And we might hope for a world with no injustice, no greed and peace under this sun. start in verse 2. 00:06:20.060 --> 00:06:26.240 First, God sees thick darkness that covers the earth. 00:06:26.759 --> 00:06:28.980 Everything I've just talked about, God sees it. 00:06:29.500 --> 00:06:30.420 It's good news. 00:06:31.019 --> 00:06:32.800 God sees Israel's plight. 00:06:33.480 --> 00:06:34.680 God sees your struggle. 00:06:36.360 --> 00:06:38.540 He sees all people in spiritual darkness. 00:06:38.920 --> 00:06:42.000 And he promises to melt away the darkness of the world. 00:06:42.519 --> 00:06:46.439 And he asks you in verse 1 to open your eyes and behold. 00:06:46.439 --> 00:06:51.560 Not for some whisper in an earthly sunrise. 00:06:52.639 --> 00:06:55.839 But to behold the glory of a merciful God. 00:06:57.759 --> 00:07:00.939 And then he says to Israel in verse 10. little summary of a number of verses in chapter 60. 00:07:56.439 --> 00:07:57.339 Where he says, 00:07:57.339 --> 00:08:18.939 Beautiful city for a beautiful people. 00:08:19.379 --> 00:08:20.039 That's right. 00:08:20.099 --> 00:08:22.539 He's going to rebuild Israel's ruins. 00:08:22.540 --> 00:08:27.379 Israel's city lies empty in verse 15 as it says. 00:08:29.420 --> 00:08:32.159 But God will fill it and restore its pride. 00:08:32.920 --> 00:08:36.080 And as Gary read, even give it new walls. 00:08:37.560 --> 00:08:44.620 The harsh rulers as well will be replaced with peace and
