00:02:36.460 So what are we to do with them? 00:02:38.840 --> 00:02:46.960 I mean, granted, the Israelites experienced horrific treatment by the Babylonians when they besieged Jerusalem in 587 BC. 00:02:46.960 --> 00:02:58.060 Granted, the Jews' sacred temple and city was razed to the ground and they had been exiled from their land in 587 BC by the Babylonians. 00:02:58.760 --> 00:03:05.140 Granted that all these terrible things had happened to them and they would have had longings for home. 00:03:05.139 --> 00:03:12.139 But don't verses 8 and 9 just sound like they take things a wee bit in order to arrive at an answer to that question, we first need to let this psalm speak for itself. 00:03:35.719 --> 00:03:41.300 And before we even do that, we first need to feel the emotion of this that sort of hip-hop, boppy tune that you can dance to or swing your partner to? 00:04:08.399 --> 00:04:14.939 What's so bizarre about that tune is that it doesn't complement the words or feelings of this psalm. 00:04:15.259 --> 00:04:20.399 Did you notice the people are in a posture of despair and weeping, verse 1? 00:04:20.680 --> 00:04:23.459 They don't have it in them to sing, verse 2. 00:04:23.939 --> 00:04:25.939 They're not in the mood for dancing. 00:04:27.519 --> 00:04:34.120 By the end of the song, the psalmist is calling down judgments on his enemy to smash their babies' the emotion of this songwriter if we're going to understand this psalm correctly. 00:05:39.860 --> 00:05:43.300 Well, with that in mind, let's take a look at the psalm. 00:05:43.360 --> 00:05:46.379
