00:01:13.219 And on the fourth track of that album is a song called What If I Stumble. 00:01:13.219 --> 00:01:19.379 And it starts with the recording of Brennan Manning saying this. 00:01:20.039 --> 00:01:26.980 The single greatest cause of atheism in the world today are Christians who acknowledge Jesus with their lips, 00:01:27.140 --> 00:01:31.420 but walk out the door and deny him with their lifestyle. 00:01:31.560 --> 00:01:32.400 He goes on to say, 00:01:32.400 --> 00:01:38.380 that's what an unbelieving world simply finds unbelievable. 00:01:41.380 --> 00:01:44.400 But it's just not those... 00:01:44.400 --> 00:01:52.380 Our children find our hypocrisy unbelievable. 00:01:55.380 --> 00:02:00.340 Study after study has recently documented young people who have grown up in the church, 00:02:00.340 --> 00:02:04.800 churches which profess Jesus as the risen Christ, 00:02:04.799 --> 00:02:08.479 churches that hold to the authority of the Bible, 00:02:09.379 --> 00:02:09.800 churches, 00:02:09.800 --> 00:02:16.879 children from these churches who are leaving the churches in droves. 00:02:16.879 --> 00:02:19.419 The question is, 00:02:19.419 --> 00:02:19.979 why? 00:02:21.259 --> 00:02:22.799 Why are we losing our children? 00:02:25.259 --> 00:02:31.560 Well, one Christian sociologist has made this convincing argument that young people are leaving 00:02:31.560 --> 00:02:36.879 because they're being taught a different version of Christianity than what the Bible teaches. 00:02:36.879 --> 00:02:39.419 And he calls it moralistic, 00:02:39.799 --> 00:02:41.280 notice who he starts talking to. 00:07:10.539 --> 00:07:10.939 So remember, 00:07:11.300 --> 00:07:12.800 he is in the temple right now. 00:07:12.899 --> 00:07:14.019 This is Passion Week. 00:07:14.300 --> 00:07:15.199 He's a couple days out 00:07:15.199 --> 00:07:16.139 from being crucified. 00:07:16.799 --> 00:07:17.899 And so God incarnate 00:07:17.899 --> 00:07:18.779 is in the temple, 00:07:18.899 --> 00:07:20.159 and he's speaking words 00:07:20.159 --> 00:07:20.899 of judgment. 00:07:22.039 --> 00:07:23.579 And so he says to these crowds 00:07:23.579 --> 00:07:24.259 and God's saving reign. 00:18:31.500 --> 00:18:36.059 To enter the kingdom of heaven is to be saved, to be rescued, 00:18:36.400 --> 00:18:39.299 to come under God's gracious reign. 00:18:39.720 --> 00:18:42.400 And what these scribes and Pharisees were doing was 00:18:42.400 --> 00:18:46.079 they were shutting the door of the kingdom on people's faces 00:18:46.079 --> 00:18:48.380 because they were denying Jesus as the Christ. 00:18:51.480 --> 00:18:53.619 They're false teachers in that sense. 00:18:55.039 --> 00:18:56.660 And the hypocrisy of it is 00:18:56.660 --> 00:19:00.279 they actually think that they're teaching the kingdom of heaven. 00:19:01.500 --> 00:19:03.640 They think they have the right teaching. 00:19:04.619 --> 00:19:05.299 And Jesus says, 00:19:05.460 --> 00:19:17.880 --> 00:19:20.380 with this kind of warm glow behind him 00:19:20.380 --> 00:19:21.519 and you're walking up and like, 00:19:21.619 --> 00:19:23.759 Man, I want that guy. 00:19:24.000 --> 00:19:25.500 And as you're walking up to the door, 00:19:25.619 --> 00:19:27.420 this Pharisee walks in front of you, 00:19:27.779 --> 00:19:29.740 reaches inside and closes the door 00:19:29.740 --> 00:19:31.839 and say, No, Jesus for you. 00:19:33.500 --> 00:19:35.480 Slamming the door of the kingdom on people's faces. 00:19:38.700 --> 00:19:39.299 Woe to. 00:19:39.460 --> 00:19:42.000 They go to extreme measures to make a convert. 00:19:43.400 --> 00:19:44.980 And what they're converting them to 00:19:44.980 --> 00:19:48.579 is not the true meaning of the Old Testament, 00:19:48.839 -->
