everyone, 00:04:14.080 --> 00:04:15.939 so they're referring to him as he whom he loves. 00:04:16.000 --> 00:04:20.699 No, they seem to think that Jesus has a special affection for him and his family. 00:05:09.660 So when Jesus says that it is for the glory of God, 00:05:09.740 --> 00:05:11.540 that the Son of God may be glorified through it, 00:05:11.700 --> 00:05:13.440 he's saying that Lazarus' illness 00:05:13.440 --> 00:05:15.540 is going to lead to the revelation 00:05:15.540 --> 00:05:17.500 of the glory of the Son of God. 00:05:17.620 --> 00:05:19.220 It's going to reveal God's glory. 00:05:20.540 --> 00:05:23.540 Now, this knowledge that Jesus has 00:05:23.540 --> 00:05:26.840 leads to something quite strange in verses 5 and 6. 00:05:27.360 --> 00:05:28.600 Please follow along 00:06:44.160 that there was a Jewish superstition in those days 00:06:44.160 --> 00:06:47.460 that said that a soul of the deceased 00:06:47.460 --> 00:06:49.460 hovered over the dead, 00:06:49.820 --> 00:06:51.840 over the corpse basically for three days. 00:06:52.379 --> 00:06:54.220 And during those three days, 00:06:54.280 --> 00:06:55.939 would hover over the diseased corpse 00:06:55.939 --> 00:06:58.519 and try to reenter that body. 00:06:59.339 --> 00:07:00.860 But around the fourth day, 00:07:00.939 --> 00:07:02.500 when decomposition kicks in 00:07:02.500 --> 00:07:04.100 and the intentionally delaying his coming 00:07:24.139 --> 00:07:26.979 to make sure that Lazarus is good and dead 00:07:26.979 --> 00:07:28.439 and to make sure that everybody, 00:07:28.579 --> 00:07:30.199 no one's going to have a mistake in their mind 00:07:30.199 --> 00:07:31.860 that Lazarus is actually dead 00:07:31.860 --> 00:07:33.459 and he's never coming back to life. 00:07:34.279 -->
