00:07:04.379 Songs of praise. 00:07:05.360 --> 00:07:09.379 Songs that tell a story and frame how we understand ourselves. 00:07:10.639 --> 00:07:13.680 We see people singing in their homes. 00:07:13.840 --> 00:07:16.379 And we see people singing in the temple. 00:07:17.259 --> 00:07:21.139 We see people singing even in prison cells in the Bible. 00:07:22.079 --> 00:07:24.819 The people of God seem to be always singing. 00:07:27.680 --> 00:07:30.259 And here in Exodus 15, we see a great example 00:07:30.259 --> 00:07:31.420 of why. 00:07:31.420 --> 00:07:31.539 Why? 00:07:32.180 --> people of Israel have just passed through the Red Sea to the other side. 00:07:47.019 --> 00:07:51.779 And there they stand on the shore of the Red Sea. 00:07:51.779 --> 00:07:52.740 Free. 00:07:55.099 --> 00:07:56.680 Liberated at last. 00:07:57.719 --> 00:08:00.759 God has rescued them from slavery. 00:08:00.759 --> 00:08:02.639 And they sing. 00:08:02.639 --> 00:08:08.500 And we know from Miriam's response in verse 20 and 21, 00:08:08.620 --> 00:08:10.939 kind of at the end of the section we just read, 00:08:11.439 --> 00:08:14.180 we know from Miriam's response that this song 00:08:14.180 --> 00:08:17.399 that Moses teaches the people that they sing together 00:08:17.399 --> 00:08:20.240 was meant to be sung again and again. 00:08:21.319 --> 00:08:23.959 Notice in verse 1, when you take a look through the first, 00:09:27.120 --> 00:09:30.080 say, 10, 11, 12 verses of this song, 00:09:30.399 --> 00:09:32.000 you see that God is praised here. 00:09:32.039 --> 00:09:33.639 This is a hymn of praise to God. 00:09:33.879 --> 00:09:35.100 And God is praised here, 00:09:35.200 --> 00:09:39.059 not just for sort of generally rescuing the people 00:09:39.059 --> 00:09:40.580 for bringing them out of Egypt. 00:09:40.919 --> 00:09:44.039 He's praised for something even more specific than that. 00:09:44.720 --> 00:09:45.279 Isn't he? 00:09:47.779 --> 00:09:49.320 This is a
