Outwardly successful, financially comfortable and yet emotionally distraught. 00:01:35.439 --> 00:01:44.799 You see sometimes people look lost but lost people don't always look lost. And I guess if we 00:01:44.799 --> 00:01:51.120 have met Zacchaeus in the street we would have been quite impressed with him. That sharp Armani suit. 00:01:51.759 --> 00:01:57.039 We'd have tried not to be too envious of him as he climbed into his large new Mercedes. 00:01:57.039 --> 00:02:02.879 And we would quietly have thought to ourselves, here is a man who is successful in his business career. 00:02:03.920 --> 00:02:08.159 Yet if we dug a little bit deeper into his assets we might have admired him a little bit less. 00:02:08.159 --> 00:02:13.759 An official who was in league with the hated authorities, collecting their taxes for them. 00:02:13.759 --> 00:02:19.199 An official who unofficially made his wealth by ripping off his own countrymen. 00:02:20.319 --> 00:02:25.680 In fact he was the chief tax collector wasn't he? When blind Bartimaeus says, I want to see. 00:06:01.500 --> 00:06:03.780 And Jesus says, receive your sight. 00:06:04.640 --> 00:06:07.280 What he's talking about is not just physically seeing. 00:06:07.740 --> 00:06:09.040 But spiritual sight. 00:06:09.500 --> 00:06:11.600 Of trusting God and following him. 00:06:11.600 --> 00:06:13.960 It is about spiritually receiving sight. 00:06:14.360 --> 00:06:17.240 And so when Zacchaeus, when Jesus looks up into the tree. 00:06:17.620 --> 00:06:19.560 He says exactly the same words. 00:06:20.520 --> 00:06:22.780 It says he saw Zacchaeus.
