He made me His own. 00:02:24.000 --> 00:02:27.000 And I'm free now not to run my own life. 00:02:27.000 --> 00:02:30.000 He runs it better. He runs it better than I do. 00:02:30.000 --> 00:02:34.000 That's the truth for anyone who's in Christ is you are purchased. 00:02:34.000 --> 00:02:37.000 You're not your own anymore. Jesus first. 00:03:23.000 --> 00:03:24.000 Okay. 00:03:24.000 --> 00:03:27.000 That's what preeminence means in its first place. 00:03:27.000 --> 00:03:28.000 Okay. 00:03:28.000 --> 00:03:32.000 And my main texts are going to be in Colossians and in Ephesians. 00:03:32.000 --> 00:03:36.000 And kind of a little background, what I've been thinking about. 00:03:36.000 --> 00:03:41.000 The verse in Proverbs 29 and 18 says, where there is no vision, the people perish. 00:03:41.000 --> 00:03:42.000 Okay. 00:03:42.000 --> 00:03:46.000 So, Jesus Christ is the Lord of the microbe. 00:03:46.000 --> 00:03:48.000 He's in the details. 00:03:48.000 --> 00:03:50.000 He's also Lord of the macro. 00:03:50.000 --> 00:03:51.000 Big picture. 00:03:51.000 --> 00:03:52.000 Okay. 00:03:52.000 --> --> 00:04:16.000 And there is no greater vision for the church than her savior. 00:04:16.000 --> 00:04:18.000 And I aim to show that. 00:04:18.000 --> 00:04:20.000 I think it's self-evident in the scripture. 00:04:20.000 --> 00:04:23.000 The difficulty of preparing for this sermon is just weeding it down. 00:04:23.000 --> 00:04:25.000 You could just say, read the New Testament. 00:04:25.000 --> 00:04:28.000 And that's what it says, you know, but you can't just read the whole New Testament here. 00:04:29.000 --> 00:04:31.000 But we need a vision bigger than us. 00:04:31.000 --> 00:04:32.000 Okay. 00:04:32.000 --> 00:04:33.000 We perish without vision. 00:04:33.000 --> 00:04:41.000 We need the Lord to give us something outside of ourselves that's bigger than ourselves for life to have any kingdom of God and his righteousness. 00:05:15.000 --> 00:05:22.000 And all of these things, meaning all the necessaries, everything you need for life, will be added to you. 00:05:22.000 --> 00:05:23.000 Make it simple. 00:05:23.000 --> 00:05:25.000 There's one thing that's needful. 00:05:25.000 --> 00:05:28.000 Seek first the kingdom of God, his righteousness. 00:05:28.000 --> 00:05:47.000 --> 00:05:52.000 And ultimately my goal is to answer two questions about this, this mission statement. 00:05:52.000 --> 00:05:55.000 One is, how does Jesus fit into this? 00:05:55.000 --> 00:05:56.000 Okay. 00:05:56.000 --> 00:05:57.000 Kingdom of God. 00:05:57.000 --> 00:06:00.000 Mormons talk about kingdom of God. 00:06:00.000 --> 00:06:01.000 All right. 00:06:01.000 --> 00:06:03.000 Jehovah's Witnesses talk about kingdom of God. 00:06:03.000 --> 00:06:04.000 Muslims. 00:06:04.000 --> 00:06:17.000 You know, there's a lot of people who claim obedience and worship to the one true God and are comfortable with this kind of language. 00:06:17.000 --> 00:06:19.000 What differentiates us from them? 00:06:19.000 --> 00:06:22.000 You know, I want to talk about that. 00:06:22.000 --> 00:06:24.000 And what differentiates us is Jesus. 00:06:24.000 --> 00:06:27.000 By the way, the true, the true Christ. 00:06:27.000 --> 00:06:28.000 Okay. 00:06:28.000 --> 00:06:29.000 We'll talk about why. 00:06:30.000 --> 00:06:31.000 And then what's the point? 00:06:31.000 --> 00:06:32.000 What's the goal? 00:06:32.000 --> 00:06:33.000 Why? 00:06:33.000 --> 00:06:40.000 You know, is there some ultimate reason that we should seek first the kingdom of God? 00:06:40.000 --> 00:06:42.000 There is. 00:06:42.000 --> 00:06:45.000 And it's important to know that reason. 00:06:45.000 --> 00:06:51.000 Otherwise, we make God an instrument for our own selfish interests. 00:06:51.000 --> 00:06:52.000 I want to be happy. 00:06:52.000 --> 00:06:54.000 God's ways are good. 00:06:54.000 --> 00:06:55.000 I want to be happy. 00:06:55.000 --> 00:06:59.000 So I'm going to do these things so I have a happier life. 00:06:59.000 --> 00:07:00.000 You know? 00:07:00.000 --> 00:07:02.000 Or I don't want to go to hell. 00:07:02.000 --> 00:07:05.000 Like, not wanting to go to hell is a very good motivation. 00:07:05.000 --> 00:07:07.000 The Holy Spirit gives us that motivation. 00:07:07.000 --> 00:07:09.000 It's great, but it shouldn't stay there. 00:07:09.000 --> 00:07:15.000 There's a lot more to the motivating work of a regenerated heart in the Holy Spirit. 00:07:15.000 --> 00:07:17.000 There's a lot more motives that he puts in there. 00:07:17.000 --> 00:07:21.000 And they're a lot bigger than just avoiding hell and just having a happy life. 00:07:21.000 --> 00:07:26.000 Although, there's no life that's happier than being in Christ. 00:07:26.000 --> 00:07:29.000 So, anyway, there's the two. 00:07:29.000 --> 00:07:31.000 That's my aim. 00:07:31.000 --> 00:07:35.000 To understand, in this mission statement, the kingdom of God and all of life together. 00:07:35.000 --> 00:07:38.000 How does Jesus fit into that? 00:07:38.000 --> 00:07:40.000 And for what purpose? 00:07:40.000 --> 00:07:42.000 You know, what's the goal? 00:07:42.000 --> 00:07:45.000 So, let's dive into question number one. 00:07:45.000 --> 00:07:48.000 How does Jesus fit into this? 00:07:48.000 --> 00:07:52.000 Well, Jesus Christ is the king of the kingdom of God. 00:07:52.000 --> 00:07:53.000 Okay? 00:07:53.000 --> 00:07:54.000 Very simple. 00:07:54.000 --> 00:07:56.000 --> 00:09:44.000 Well, he is the king. 00:09:44.000 --> 00:09:57.000 And we have not just a sort of, I don't know, an ungrounded, untethered, unpersoned conception of the kingdom of God. 00:09:57.000 --> 00:09:59.000 It's a person. 00:09:59.000 --> 00:10:04.000 We're married and under the reign and the rule of a person. 00:10:04.000 --> 00:10:08.000 We have a personal relationship to our king, Jesus. 00:10:08.000 --> 00:10:11.000 We're directly ruled now by him. 00:10:11.000 --> 00:10:12.000 I'm not ruled by myself anymore. 00:10:12.000 --> 00:10:14.000 I'm ruled by Jesus Christ. 00:10:15.000 --> 00:10:17.000 So, the kingdom of God. 00:10:17.000 --> 00:10:18.000 Jesus is king in the kingdom of God. 00:10:18.000 --> 00:10:19.000 That's how he factors in. 00:10:19.000 -->
