You know, people get anxious about a lot 00:00:20.480 --> 00:00:28.800 of things. And sometimes there's a reason to be anxious, you might say, but how do we respond to 00:00:28.800 --> 00:00:39.719 that is important. And God gives us some direction and what to do, how to trust Him in those moments 00:00:39.719 --> 00:00:50.799 when life seems to be overwhelming our soul. Because really, that's anxiety is when the 00:00:50.799 --> 00:00:58.780 situations of life overwhelm us to the center of who we are. Anxiety can set in, and this 00:00:58.780 --> 00:01:07.620 idea of a seal of rest, of peace here is important. And, you know, and how we deal with that is 00:01:07.620 --> 00:01:11.920 important. Because, you know, some of you, have you ever heard of a store called J.C. Penney's? 00:01:14.439 --> 00:01:21.260 You know, James Cash Penny was the founder. We find that after he founded the store in 1902, 00:01:21.260 --> 00:01:29.540 the next 17 years, he had amazing growth and profit and everything. But in 1929, something happened. 00:01:30.780 --> 00:01:37.040 There's a major stock market crash, and everything went down. In order to make a payroll, 00:01:37.540 --> 00:01:41.920 he borrowed against his life insurance policies. And by the end of the Great Depression, 00:01:41.920 --> 00:01:49.620 he and the company were in financial ruin. And the personal toll of this stress took Penny, 00:01:49.900 --> 00:01:54.079 on Penny was tremendous, both physically and emotionally. You know, when things like that 00:01:54.079 --> 00:02:01.859 happen, it weighs on us both. The overwhelming nature of that, and we find that he eventually 00:02:01.859 --> 00:02:09.639 got to the point he checked himself into a hospital. And one night, as he was prescribed a 00:02:09.639 --> 00:02:15.419 sedative that quickly wore off, he awoke believing that he would die that night. And he wrote a letter 00:02:15.419 --> 00:02:20.799 to his family and fell asleep. The next morning, he woke up surprised that he was still alive. 00:02:21.339 --> 00:02:28.919 As he heard people singing a very familiar song, God will take care of you. He woke up to hearing it 00:02:28.919 --> 00:02:35.099 down sung in the chapel down the hall. And he found his way and listened to the singing and the message 00:02:35.099 --> 00:02:39.479 with a heavy burden upon his heart. But later, he said this, 00:02:39.560 --> 00:02:45.979 I felt as if I'd been instantly lifted out of the darkness of a dungeon into a warm, brilliant sunlight. 00:02:46.139 --> 00:02:52.099 I felt the power of God has never been felt before. I realized that I alone was responsible for my troubles. 00:02:52.219 --> 00:02:59.979 I knew that God and his love was there to help me. And that day to this, my life has been free from worry. 00:02:59.979 --> 00:03:05.659 And it's all because he realized God would do one simple thing. God would take care of him. 00:03:06.060 --> 00:03:14.139 That God is still there. That God is able to overcome the situations of life. And, you know, 00:03:14.179 --> 00:03:19.339 today there's really no shortage of anxiety in our world today. I mean, we live in a high stress, 00:03:19.439 --> 00:03:25.359 high dynamic. We have a lot of social tension. We have political tensions that cause anxiety. You know, 00:03:25.360 --> 00:03:30.600 what's going to happen next. You have just life anxieties that happen. You know, you got bills that 00:03:30.600 --> 00:03:36.780 come or unexpected news, or you have all these different elements involved in life. So there's no 00:03:36.780 --> 00:03:45.140 failure or no lack of things to be anxious for, because it's almost in life, if you notice things 00:03:45.140 --> 00:03:51.080 that make us anxious seem to be knocking all the time, something new all the time. Hey, I'm here. 00:03:51.080 --> 00:03:56.560 You know, you got this, or you got that. You got an unexpected bill, or something didn't come through, 00:03:56.760 --> 00:04:01.620 or, you know, there's things that happen all over the place in life that cause us to be distressed. 00:04:02.680 --> 00:04:08.060 Saying, how am I going to get through this? How am I going to overcome these things? And so today 00:04:08.060 --> 00:04:14.720 we're going to look at Psalm 62, because David here is dealing with something that is just overwhelming 00:04:14.720 --> 00:04:20.900 in his life. And this is one of those Psalms, we don't know exactly what time in David's life 00:04:20.899 --> 00:04:27.779 this was written. And the reality is this, sometimes anxiety, I think it's good we don't 00:04:27.779 --> 00:04:31.159 know when it was happening, because you know what, what David's dealing with is something we all deal 00:04:31.159 --> 00:04:39.439 with all the time. I believe David dealt with it in his life perpetually or continually. And we're 00:04:39.439 --> 00:04:45.939 going to see this, because we're going to focus here for a moment in Psalm 62, because it speaks about 00:04:45.939 --> 00:04:49.899 waiting on God. Let's look here in verse 1. It says this, 00:04:49.899 --> 00:04:57.719 truly my soul waiteth upon God, for him cometh my salvation. He is my rock and my salvation, he is my 00:04:57.719 --> 00:05:05.779 defense. I shall not be greatly moved. How long will I imagine mischief against man? Ye shall be slain 00:05:05.779 --> 00:05:14.500 all of you as a bowing wall, shall ye be and a tottering fence. They only consult to cast down from 00:05:14.500 --> 00:05:20.219 his excellence, and they delight in lies. They bless with their mouth, but they curse inwardly. 00:05:20.659 --> 00:05:30.959 Asila, O soul, thou only upon, wait thou only upon God, for my expectation is from him. He only is my rock 00:05:30.959 --> 00:05:38.620 and my salvation. He is my defense. I shall not be moved. In God is my salvation and my glory. The rock 00:05:38.620 --> 00:05:44.479 of my strength and my refuge is in God. Now look at verse 8. This is going to be the theme of our lesson. 00:05:44.599 --> 00:05:52.379 It says, trust in him at all times, ye people. Pour out your heart before him. God is a refuge for us. 00:05:53.579 --> 00:05:58.060 Let's pray. Heavenly Father, as we come before you this morning, Lord, as we understand the 00:05:58.060 --> 00:06:06.420 situations of life, Lord, everybody's is unique and to them, but Lord, it also has things of us 00:06:06.420 --> 00:06:14.379 learning to trust you as we walk through the challenges of life and the problems that it brings. 00:06:14.540 --> 00:06:22.019 And Lord, as we look here, the resilient life of overcoming anxiety and worry, and we do that by faith, 00:06:22.019 --> 00:06:28.479 by trusting you in the midst of the craziness of this life, knowing that you are the rock, you're the 00:06:28.479 --> 00:06:34.839 one that does not move, that you do not change. Lord, help us to always be mindful of those things 00:06:34.839 --> 00:06:41.159 as situations in life come and challenges are present, but Lord, that we know that you're there 00:06:41.159 --> 00:06:47.500 with us. Lord, that you'll get us through even the hardest moments that we face in this life. And Lord, 00:06:47.500 --> 00:06:53.379 we just ask it all in your precious name. Amen. You know, as we look here at Psalm 62, 00:06:53.899 --> 00:07:00.180 this passage speaks specifically about waiting on God. You know, part of our anxiety is because we say, 00:07:00.319 --> 00:07:05.480 well, God should deal with this on my timetable. Have you ever noticed that some of our anxiety, 00:07:05.579 --> 00:07:09.500 it's like, why God, why haven't you stepped in and take care of this? Why haven't you done this? 00:07:09.560 --> 00:07:14.639 Why haven't you done that? Why is this? Why are you allowing this to happen? But when we see here in 00:07:14.639 --> 00:07:21.899 Psalm 62, it points out that God is the rock of our salvation. He is the solid rock that we have 00:07:21.899 --> 00:07:25.939 in our life. It speaks about the enemies of righteousness. You know what? You're going to 00:07:25.939 --> 00:07:32.180 have enemies that stand against you. There's going to be things that stand against you. And the last 00:07:32.180 --> 00:07:37.919 part here, verses five through seven, return to the refrain of waiting on God, who is the rock of 00:07:37.919 --> 00:07:42.759 our salvation. It says, in other words, God's the rock of our salvation. We're going to have problems 00:07:42.759 --> 00:07:45.800 in trouble and people are going to be challenged, but you know what? God's still the rock of your 00:07:45.800 --> 00:07:54.920 salvation. And he says, for trusting him at all times. You know, when we are going to have to be 00:07:54.920 --> 00:08:03.199 resilient in life, we need to overcome that anxiety and worry by faith, by trusting God, because it's 00:08:03.199 --> 00:08:11.019 true that the presence of anxiety is unavoidable, but the prison of anxiety is optional. That's a pretty 00:08:11.019 --> 00:08:18.620 good dynamic. Anxiety is unavoidable, but the prison of it is optional. Because we can either let that 00:08:18.620 --> 00:08:25.459 control our lives or we can allow our lives to say, I'm going to trust God in the midst of the problem, 00:08:25.839 --> 00:08:32.819 in the midst of the situation. And it tells us that it's like, lets us free from when we trust God. It 00:08:32.819 --> 00:08:39.139 tells us that what kind of trust we need. And so we're going to look at this verse eight here this 00:08:39.139 --> 00:08:44.740 morning and unpack some dynamics here. I think it's important for us because the first one, 00:08:44.860 --> 00:08:51.139 when it comes to dealing with anxiety is to have a constant trust, a constant trust. You know, 00:08:51.399 --> 00:08:55.399 it seems to be, I don't know about you, but it seems easier to trust God when everything's going good. 00:08:57.379 --> 00:09:01.240 You ever notice that? It's real easy to say, I trust God when everything's going the way we think 00:09:01.240 --> 00:09:06.919 it should. You know, it's like, Hey, I'm on board with this God. This is doing good. But you know what? 00:09:06.919 --> 00:09:13.139 Psalm 62 reveals in David's life, much like in ours, that there comes a time when things didn't go well. 00:09:14.459 --> 00:09:20.639 Things didn't go the way David thought or things don't go the way we think. But he says, 00:09:21.079 --> 00:09:29.839 trust in God at all times, even in the midst of trouble, trust God. This word trust is very simple 00:09:29.840 --> 00:09:36.940 as this, to have confidence, to be confident, to be bold, to be secure, you know, to make secure, 00:09:37.180 --> 00:09:44.600 to feel safe. You know, that dynamic of trusting in God saying, I have a safe place to be. You know, 00:09:44.620 --> 00:09:50.680 people talk a lot about safe spaces today. The safest place and only safe space you can be is with God. 00:09:52.139 --> 00:09:57.060 He is the one that is there. He is the one that protects us, that walks with us 00:09:57.059 --> 00:10:04.299 because he's the one that's trustworthy. We can have complete confidence in him and in the fact 00:10:04.299 --> 00:10:09.459 that he cares. You know, there's a lot of times, you ever know, sometimes you'll tell somebody about 00:10:09.459 --> 00:10:13.199 your problems and they look at you like, I really don't care. But you know what? When we go to God, 00:10:13.199 --> 00:10:24.379 God says, I'm always care. I'm always there. I'm always available. You know, when we face situations 00:10:24.379 --> 00:10:32.659 that can cause our mind to go towards worry or anxiety, we need to refocus our minds and our 00:10:32.659 --> 00:10:38.799 thoughts and says, I know what's going on here, but I know I need to focus on God has it under control. 00:10:39.240 --> 00:10:45.799 That God is still over those things, those situations, to trust God at all times. And there's 00:10:45.799 --> 00:10:51.419 some times when it's easy to trust. You know, when things are going good, when God, you feel your 00:10:51.419 --> 00:10:57.179 prayers are being answered. You see results from your labors, you know, things are moving positive 00:10:57.179 --> 00:11:04.299 and, you know, you have hope and you imagine a blessing and future, but there's other times when 00:11:04.299 --> 00:11:10.240 it's harder to trust the Lord. When you've prayed for something for a long time and it doesn't seem 00:11:10.240 --> 00:11:17.899 to go away. When it doesn't seem like God is, you know, paying attention to the situation in my life 00:11:17.899 --> 00:11:22.699 where you've labored and served and you've done everything you're supposed to do. And you say, 00:11:22.779 --> 00:11:27.139 Lord, there's, there's no benefit. I don't see any benefit from all the effort I put forth. 00:11:29.079 --> 00:11:32.659 Because you know what? Oftentimes we do major things like, well, I put forth a lot of effort. 00:11:32.740 --> 00:11:34.659 I didn't see anything. So therefore we're going to do something different. 00:11:36.480 --> 00:11:43.179 But you know, we need to constantly, even in those moments when obstacles arise and seem impossible, 00:11:43.179 --> 00:11:52.099 you know, God is there. God wants us to trust him the way that he prescribes. And we understand 00:11:52.099 --> 00:12:00.839 in the middle of the darkness, God is still there. Faith in God is an abiding duty and a perpetual 00:12:00.839 --> 00:12:05.500 privilege that we have. He is worthy of our confidence. You know, look over to Philippians 00:12:05.500 --> 00:12:11.359 chapter one for a moment. You know, Philippians chapter one in verse six, the word of God tells us this. 00:12:11.360 --> 00:12:15.759 It makes it very clear. Philippians 1.6. Notice what it says there. It says what? 00:12:16.220 --> 00:12:22.240 Being confident of this very thing, that that which hath begun a good work in you 00:12:22.240 --> 00:12:27.500 will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ. Think about that for a moment. In other words, 00:12:27.600 --> 00:12:34.620 God says, if I start, if you're saved and I've started a work in your life, I will complete it. 00:12:34.620 --> 00:12:43.620 I am the one that's going to, that you can put trust in to lean upon him. You know, 00:12:44.240 --> 00:12:49.440 you know, we haven't sung it in a while, but there's an old hymn, leaning on the everlasting arms, 00:12:49.519 --> 00:12:54.139 you know, you know, that's the reason I like some of the hymns that from the past, you know what, 00:12:54.179 --> 00:12:59.980 they have a lot of substance to them, a lot of principle to them, a lot of scriptural basis 00:12:59.980 --> 00:13:08.879 of not just repeat, but foundational things. You know, the word that these everlasting arms 00:13:08.879 --> 00:13:14.759 aren't something that is just a phrase a hymn writer came up with. It's from, it doesn't 00:13:14.759 --> 00:13:22.060 honor me 33 in verse 27, where it says the eternal God is thy refuge and underneath are the everlasting 00:13:22.060 --> 00:13:29.759 arms. You know, we can learn to lean and trust God, that God is there, that God is over, 00:13:29.759 --> 00:13:36.059 these things. So when we're, have trouble, when darkness surrounds or anxiety gets ahold of us, 00:13:36.080 --> 00:13:42.840 it's when we need to trust. It's an active choice of faith because oftentimes we get the idea that 00:13:42.840 --> 00:13:50.659 faith is a one-time thing. Now, faith for salvation is a one-time thing, but trusting God is a perpetual 00:13:50.659 --> 00:13:57.899 thing because we have to constantly put, remind ourselves that God has us, that God is there, 00:13:57.899 --> 00:14:04.299 that God is over and above these things. It requires us to choose to trust him over and 00:14:04.299 --> 00:14:10.939 over again in each situation. We all go through these seasons of life. You know, it's a, I'm getting 00:14:10.939 --> 00:14:16.179 old enough now to see some seasons of life. You know, you see different things happen. You know, 00:14:16.220 --> 00:14:19.579 sometimes when you're in the middle of a season, especially when you're younger, you have this 00:14:19.579 --> 00:14:24.059 mindset, you get anxious, this will never end. You know, we have a bunch of moms, they started 00:14:24.059 --> 00:14:29.439 homeschooling and, and I remember every fall, the same thing, you know, this will never end. And they 00:14:29.439 --> 00:14:38.159 wake up one morning and they wave goodbye. And it's like, it ended. Seasons change. 00:14:40.139 --> 00:14:44.019 But you know what? The thing is, if we trust God in the seasons that we're in 00:14:44.019 --> 00:14:51.220 and the dynamics that's happening, it keeps our perspective correct. It helps us look at the 00:14:51.220 --> 00:14:58.399 right things. Because when your faith is weak, you can lean into God's everlasting arms that's 00:14:58.399 --> 00:15:03.799 always going to be there. And that's that active choice to choose the things of God. 00:15:05.879 --> 00:15:12.039 Because life is going to change. You know, one thing living very long will tell you life is going to 00:15:12.039 --> 00:15:22.000 change. Situations are going to change. You know, every time a family, when, you know, 00:15:22.019 --> 00:15:26.000 we're blessed to see a lot of young families and having babies, you know, every time a baby's added, 00:15:26.099 --> 00:15:34.480 there is change. You know, the first one's a big change. By the third one is still change, 00:15:34.539 --> 00:15:39.419 but a different change. It's like, oh, they just blend in. And then like some of these families with 00:15:39.419 --> 00:15:43.039 nine kids, it's like, how do they even know they had another one? The noise level can't change much. 00:15:45.000 --> 00:15:53.639 Yeah. You know, it's like this dynamic of seasons of life and pretty soon kids move out and things 00:15:53.639 --> 00:15:59.479 change. But seasons change. But even the challenges, the seasons of challenges in our life change. 00:16:01.000 --> 00:16:04.679 The things you're faced with today are not the same things you were faced with yesterday. 00:16:04.679 --> 00:16:10.379 And you know what? The reality is the things you might be faced with tomorrow might be totally 00:16:10.379 --> 00:16:15.539 different from the things of today and the things from yesterday. But the things you face may change. 00:16:16.120 --> 00:16:23.439 But the God you can trust is always the same. To trust in him at all times. To trust in him. You 00:16:23.439 --> 00:16:29.139 know, we can trust the Lord in every season of life. You know, that's one of them. If you want to see 00:16:29.139 --> 00:16:35.519 some dynamics of seasons, Ecclesiastes 3 describes those things. You know, it talks about for everything, 00:16:35.720 --> 00:16:43.259 there is a season, a time to be for every purpose under heaven. A time to be born. A time to die. A 00:16:43.259 --> 00:16:48.120 time to plant. A time to pluck up that which is planted. A time to kill. A time to heal. A time to 00:16:48.120 --> 00:16:53.299 break. A time to build up. A time to weep. A time to laugh. A time to mourn. A time to dance. A time to 00:16:53.299 --> 00:16:58.620 cast away stones. And a time to gather stones together. A time to embrace. And a time to refrain from 00:16:58.620 --> 00:17:04.400 embracing. A time to get. A time to lose. A time to keep. A time to cast away. A time to rent. A time to 00:17:04.400 --> 00:17:09.200 sow. A time to keep silent. A time to speak. A time to love. A time to hate. A time of war. A time of 00:17:09.200 --> 00:17:15.920 peace. What profit hath he that worketh that therein he laboreth? Have seen the travail which God hath 00:17:15.920 --> 00:17:20.880 given to the sons of men to be exercised in it. But you know, the next verse says this, but he hath made 00:17:20.880 --> 00:17:30.600 everything beautiful in his time. To trust in God at all times. But also to trust in God in all things. 00:17:30.860 --> 00:17:37.040 We need to trust God in the things of life. We live in a day when there's so much around us changing. 00:17:38.000 --> 00:17:44.960 You know? The cultural shift we've seen even in the last five years within our society is 00:17:44.960 --> 00:17:52.740 moving so fast it's hard to measure all the dynamics that have happened and the things that have changed. 00:17:52.740 --> 00:17:59.319 And these shifts in the mindset and you see the divisions. You see the economic shifts and the 00:17:59.319 --> 00:18:06.539 social shifts that are happening at these unprecedented speeds. And you know, it's coming faster and faster. 00:18:08.620 --> 00:18:12.620 You know, the one thing about I can say today that I think is different from the past, I think the 00:18:12.619 --> 00:18:20.719 pace in which things is coming at us is accelerated. The acceleration of it seems what makes it 00:18:20.719 --> 00:18:27.500 overwhelming. You know? It seems like you can deal with things easier when they're kind of slow 00:18:27.500 --> 00:18:33.219 trickling upon you. But then it feels like you got one of those walls of water come running down at you. 00:18:33.819 --> 00:18:41.439 You know? The quantity and the speed makes a difference. And it's not just in society, you know? 00:18:41.440 --> 00:18:47.000 They tell us this, that when the U.S. Patent Office was established in 1790, 00:18:48.019 --> 00:18:57.279 the first decade of the Patent Office, they granted 229 patents in the first 10 years. Any idea what 00:18:57.279 --> 00:19:05.840 the current rate is? The U.S. Patent Office grants 229 patents every 7.2 hours. Things are accelerating. 00:19:05.839 --> 00:19:12.480 Some of these changes have led the world and especially in our Western world further from 00:19:12.480 --> 00:19:19.220 biblical values. I mean, some of the economic changes have personal implications for people. I mean, 00:19:19.220 --> 00:19:25.980 just trying to survive. I mean, you get to these dynamics of markets and shifts and trying to figure 00:19:25.980 --> 00:19:29.599 out how you're going to pay for retirement and how you're going to pay for kids and how you're going to 00:19:29.599 --> 00:19:35.439 pay for college and all the different elements. I mean, things just seem to keep piling and changing. 00:19:36.779 --> 00:19:41.019 But all these changes around us, we can understand that God hasn't changed. 00:19:42.359 --> 00:19:50.819 The pace of change isn't something that overwhelms God. It might overwhelm us, but it doesn't overwhelm God. 00:19:51.659 --> 00:19:55.139 God is still the same. You know, take a look over to Matthew chapter 10 for a moment. 00:19:55.140 --> 00:20:02.140 Matthew chapter 10. And we'll look here at verse 29 as Jesus here is speaking and he's reminding us 00:20:02.140 --> 00:20:07.400 of something very important. Because sometimes we think things are so overwhelming that God isn't 00:20:07.400 --> 00:20:14.400 keeping up with it. But think about this. Look down at verse 29. Are not two sparrows sold for a 00:20:14.400 --> 00:20:20.820 farling? And one of them shall not fall to the ground without your father. But the very hairs of your head 00:20:20.819 --> 00:20:26.819 are all numbered. Fear ye not, therefore ye are more value than many sparrows. In other words, 00:20:27.819 --> 00:20:34.419 I grew up in the country and sparrows are like this plentiful little bird that's always pestering 00:20:34.419 --> 00:20:40.960 everything. They make a mess of everything. And it's just when one falls, nobody pays attention. 00:20:42.700 --> 00:20:47.079 But you know what? Jesus uses this as an illustration. What you pay no attention to, 00:20:47.079 --> 00:20:54.220 God says, I'm still paying attention to the details. And if I'm paying attention to the detail of one 00:20:54.220 --> 00:21:01.899 sparrow that falls, how much more am I paying attention to what's going on in your life? 00:21:03.539 --> 00:21:09.839 He says, I'm a God of details. I know the details of your life. I'm there. I know what's happening. 00:21:09.839 --> 00:21:15.740 And one of the most important things to remember is always that dynamic. You know, look at a familiar 00:21:15.740 --> 00:21:20.519 verse, Proverbs chapter 3. I mean, most of us could probably say it, you know, where it says, 00:21:20.899 --> 00:21:28.619 trust in the Lord with what? All thine heart. And do what? Lean not unto thine what? Own understanding 00:21:28.619 --> 00:21:35.379 in all thy ways. Acknowledge him and he shall direct thy paths. You know, oftentimes we need to apply this 00:21:35.379 --> 00:21:39.039 when we feel anxiety because you know what happens when we get anxious about situations? 00:21:39.039 --> 00:21:47.099 We try to rely upon how we perceive them or how we understand them to try to overcome them. 00:21:48.240 --> 00:21:55.619 Instead of saying, what has God given to me? What do I need to trust him in this area to do that? 00:21:55.759 --> 00:22:03.639 And to understand how God has given us the ability to walk through those situations by trusting him 00:22:03.639 --> 00:22:08.720 and relying upon him rather than just our reason. Because you know, sometimes what we feel we ought to do 00:22:08.720 --> 00:22:14.740 isn't the right thing to do. This is how I perceive it. So therefore, how I ought to react. You know, 00:22:14.759 --> 00:22:19.799 what we need to do is to trust God and say, how does God say that I need to look at this? 00:22:21.140 --> 00:22:25.380 How, what should be my response? Now you say, preacher, what are you talking about? You know, 00:22:25.420 --> 00:22:29.880 when people get anxious and things happen, like sometimes people lash out in bitterness and anger, 00:22:30.000 --> 00:22:33.720 and they lash out at people that they shouldn't lash out at. You know what they're doing? They're 00:22:33.720 --> 00:22:37.819 responding in their own feeling and their own understanding of a situation. But you know, the reality is, is that while there's value in a plan, 00:24:29.279 --> 00:24:35.440 it's also good to understand that God is in control. And sometimes to look and see what God 00:24:35.440 --> 00:24:41.940 is doing, to learn to trust God in those things. You know, I'll look over Philippians chapter 4 for a moment. It doesn't say the circumstance is going to go away. You're able to think clear. You're able to do what needs to be 00:31:38.879 --> 00:31:45.939 done because you're trusting God, that emptying trust to trust him and that he's the one that's going 00:31:45.939 --> 00:31:52.619 to keep our hearts and minds where they ought to be, but also an earnest trust. There's an earnestness 00:31:52.619 --> 00:31:58.019 to what David's saying to pour out your heart before him. This is because God already knows 00:31:58.019 --> 00:32:03.039 everything. You know, in Psalm 139, David said this, he begins, 00:32:03.159 --> 00:32:08.759 O Lord, thou hast searched me and known me. In other words, you're at liberty to talk to God because he 00:32:08.759 --> 00:32:14.439 already knows anyways. The information you give is not something new. They already know. God already 00:32:14.439 --> 00:32:19.779 knows. He's there. We understand that God is there through the midst of all those things. 00:32:19.779 --> 00:32:27.059 To understand that God tells us to put our thoughts and our deepest parts of our hearts 00:32:27.059 --> 00:32:33.119 to the Lord, to pour them out to him.
