of his birth, 00:05:18.579 --> 00:05:24.860 but even more so, the Old Testament had spoken graphically about the nature of his death. 00:05:24.860 --> 00:05:31.280 We sang earlier that song, Man of Sorrows, pointing us to Isaiah 53, 00:05:32.280 --> 00:05:37.720 where we read of one who was despised and rejected by man. 00:05:38.860 --> 00:05:44.480 One who took up our pain and bore our suffering. 00:05:44.480 --> 00:05:51.900 One who was pierced for our transgressions and crushed for our iniquities. 00:05:52.520 --> 00:05:57.720 One who, we're told, was cut off from the land of the living. 00:05:59.420 --> 00:06:02.379 And at the very end of that chapter, Isaiah writes, 00:06:02.840 --> 00:06:05.700 he poured out his life unto death 00:06:05.700 --> 00:06:10.680 and was numbered 00:08:18.539 and declares, I am innocent of this man's blood. 00:08:18.540 --> 00:08:18.660 Pilate. 00:08:21.360 --> 00:08:23.460 Yet here Jesus is, 00:08:24.460 --> 00:08:28.740 numbered with the transgressors. 00:08:29.960 --> 00:08:32.399 Now, anyone should be able to see 00:08:32.399 --> 00:08:35.960 that this is the greatest injustice. 00:08:38.320 --> 00:08:40.560 And yet it is the very reason 00:08:40.560 --> 00:08:43.080 that Jesus had come into the world. 00:08:43.080 --> 00:08:46.280 to die in the place of sinners, 00:08:47.100 --> 00:08:50.360 to take the judgment that we
